They still want you to pay upfront & now it will take up to a week turnaround. There was once sign in the window that said 'same day service'. Today I took in some dress shorts, take up 2 inch inseam & 2 inch waist, $40.00. I keep coming back because there is no real competition in the area & I never have had to bring anything back because the work wasn't done well. read more

I have taken items here for years as a loyal customer and even recommended it to others. However, no longer will I recommend this business to anyone. Short version - owner is rude, disrespectful, disorganized, unprofessional, and threatens to keep you clothing if she can't locate it due to her mistake. Do not go here. Longer version. Kim made a mistake on altering the straps on my dress and they continued to keep falling down. I brought it back to have it corrected and the owner was rude and condescending to me. She questioned if I got it done there and finally backed down when I offered to bring up my credit card statement. I put name my first name and my two last names on the ticket and phone number so I could get it in a few days. When I came back to pick up the dress, the owner was blatantly rude and disrespectful to me in front of several other ppl. She asked me my last name after waiting several minutes. I provided both names. She couldn't locate my dress. Began raising her voice and yelling at me about it. She then went on to tell me to leave and she is not going to give me my dress and claimed she didn't have it. When I produced the ticket and tell her I'm not leaving without my dress and told her she has no right to speak to a customer that way, again she refused to apologize. She instead became more angry bc she placed the dress under my first name, although that's not what she asked nor is that her system. She double downed when again I calmly said she was disrespectful and made mistake and should not treat a repeat customer this way especially in front of others as they are witnesses to the way she treats ppl and customers. read more

Are used to use Kim's for absolutely everything when I lived in Fort Mill. They were really great and did an amazing job at a very good price. Unfortunately, a more recent encounter left a lot to be desired. My sister and I took our formal evening gowns to be altered for an upcoming wedding. My sister went first, and she was slightly hesitant in deciding how high to hem the dress, and how snug she wanted the bodice to fit. The lady helping us was immediately and obviously irritated and impatient, and just left my sister standing there while she attended to her next client. Granted, the place was very busy much busier than I'd ever seen it before. Still, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be treated kindly, and with a modicum of patience and even mentioned that this was my sister's first time wearing any kind of dress like this, and so that's why she was a little unsure about a couple of decisions, but that did not seem to soften the lady who was helping us. In the end, they did a nice job on the dress though. Then it was my turn. I have worn formal gowns many times before this was not new territory for me. I knew exactly what I needed as far as having the skirt up a little bit. The same lady helped me and she seemed irritated because the skirt of my account was pleated chiffon. I didn't understand the irritation, because this is not uncommon, and I expected it to cost more because of the pleats. But I didn't need the attitude. I needed some guidance from the lady helping us regarding my bodice, because the sleeves of my dress tended to slip off my shoulders, and I did not know how to solve the problem, not being a seamstress myself. So I asked her about it, and she said there's nothing that can be done. Nothing. I suggested at the very least, perhaps stitching in some bras stays. (which our little loops that you snap your bra straps into so they stay with the dress.). She waved her hand dismissively and said that won't work. Again, she appeared, irritated and walked away and helped another client while I just stood there. For what it's worth, I observed her giving everybody the same kind of shitty attitude, so at least it wasn't just my sister and me. I gave the dress to her to at least get the hem done. But I was quite unsettled by the experience, and not confident about, leaving my dress with her. Two days later, I had a change of heart and went to retrieve my dress. She ended up charging me for the labor of pinning up my hem. I was just done with it, so I paid the fee and left. I ended up taking my dress to Ruby's Alterations (Hwy 49 and Carowinds) who were very friendly and very accommodating, and not at all, impatient with my many questions, and inquiries about how to keep my shoulder straps on my shoulders. I'm glad I took my dress to Rubys. I'm giving the shop three stars because I know they do excellent work. But I would've given them just one for the customer service and shitty attitude. read more

I am so impressed with the overall service I got from this business. I needed a suit altered and quickly and they came through. It seems more and more rare these days, but this business did everything they said they would and did it to a high standard. The alterations I request to both pants and jacket were not easy(fast) adjustments and it was after 4pm when I dropped the suit off. I took in a couple pairs of brand new yoga pants to get altered a couple weeks ago. I had tried them on prior and there was no issues with the pants other than the fact that they were too long. When I picked them up, one of the pairs of pants had a slit across the thigh, a perfectly straight cut almost as if the fabric had been folded under while being cut by accident. I called afterwards and was very nice and explained the problem. I did not ask for a refund, or for them to purchase me a new pair of pants. Instead I told them I was ordering a brand new pair (that I was paying for) and asked if they could fix them for free. They told me they would see what they could do. I just brought in the old pants and the new pants and the lady working was very argumentative and defensive. She claimed they did not make the cut in the pants even though they most definitely did, and I was not even mad about it, and I was happy to order a new pair and not even ask for a refund. I ask that she fix the new pair for free and she told me no and got very defensive and rude. Anyways, don't recommend this place at all! Horrible customer service! read more

This place is awesome! Been needing a place like this since we moved. And decided to try it. I needed several items to be addressed. Two hems and an alternation of pants. I know, hems are easy. If I had a sewing machine, it would be done but I do not, so here I am. The alteration was a fix from a previous shop. I told them the issues, tried on the pants, a pin here and there, and VIOLA I had a fabuluos pair of professional slacks to wear. They were able to fix the previous issue and new ones never addressed. They have reasonable prices, just need to pay up front. Professional people, great service, and excellent work. read more

I had a pillow cover made at Kims. Gave specific instructions of how I wanted it. Was highly disappointed. I had a new pillow insert and expensive screen print fabric. Went in gave ticket. Girl could not find what I had come to pick up said what did you have, I said a pillow. Oh! she said it is in that basket. It was not as we discussed when I left the fabric and insert. I asked for the pillow cover to be made as an envelope style and I also asked for their expertise on envelope style or zipper. I chose the envelope style. The pillow cover was sewn shut and pillow insert inside. I can not wash the cover or remove the pillow insert. I had an altercation with them and went off on them. She said leave it and they would fix it or wait and they would fix it. I do not have a car and 75 years old, so I have to get transportation to every thing I have to do. I ended up with the pillow and my $15.00 back. She asked me what was wrong with me? Then I was told to leave and never come back. LIKE I WOULD! read more

I rarely use alterations but every now and then you just need it. My daughters prom dress was a perfect fit and only needed 2 seems restitched on the back one about an inch long and the second about two inches long. I asked how long until I get it back and I was told 4 weeks from the date I was dropping it off of which I was kind of taken back so I asked how much and was told $20. I'm not a seemstress which is why I came into Kim's. I asked why so much and the owner looked at me and ripped the ticket from the counter, threw it in garbage and asked me to leave. I couldn't believe what was happening, so basically if you walk into their establishment you have got to pay what they say and accept the long waiting time of when your piece of clothing will be completed. It is quite obvious to me that you have way too much business and you don't need mine. I happinly left and went down the street to Lapels they charged me $10 and I got my dress back in two days, plus I received a 25% discount for being a new customer. I have been going to kim's alterations for years but in the last few years have had several items that were completely botched. What's worse is when I bring the item in for adjustment there is a ton of attitude and questioning with regards to whether or not they were the ones who made the initial alteration. I have had problems more than once here. I have an item now that I have had to bring in twice and frankly, I'm dreading dealing with Kim again. It has cost me so much to continue bringing it in for more "fixes" and the whole process of dealing with her attitude leaves me exasperated! Seeking alternatives now. read more

Kim's does good alteration work. The lady who waits on you can be a little aggressive at times. If you bring an item in for a price on alterations and decide not to get the work done for whatever reason, beware...... the quoted price may change if you bring it back to get alteration done. read more
