He's great with communication, and his estimate was right on point. I had some drainage work done at my house which trashed my entire irrigation system, so I needed to have it replaced, both in the front and back yard. The McKay crew did a bang up job of it. They came in on time and on budget. They had the whole system laid out and running within about two days. Then Sherman spent some time with me to make sure I knew how to operate the controllers. In fact, they do more than irrigation, and I will likely have them come back and put in some new plants and do some other work in my backyard. They did such a good job with the irrigation system that I have high confidence they will make quick work of the other jobs too. I strongly recommend them.

I was surprised my call was answered & thrilled that Gerado said he would be in my area in an hour or so & could take a look. When he arrived he gave me a quote & said he could repair it now. Everything was in good repair & done at a very reasonable price. A week later late in the evening I noticed another section had begun showing some seeping at the popup heads & figured to check it in the morning. Next morning to my surprise I received a text from the water co that my smart meter had alerted them to a continuous flow. I went right to work & saw I had a valve problem. I thought I could handle the repair on my own following some you tube advice, I replaced the top of the valve body. Long story short I was unsuccessful & couldn't stop the ebb. I called Gerado who determined possibly because my original valve was over 16 years old there could be some minor variance to the molding process or I purchased a defective valve. We agreed to replace the entire valve assembly. Gerado who returned again on Sunday with a new valve installed the valve in short order. Immediately all was back to good working order. He tested the power at the main control unit checking for power and continuity. He went to each valve and checked for power finding and replacing the power solenoid that controls the valve. He went through and got each valve working. Also discovered leaking pipe causing low water pressure on that circuit. After about 3 plus hours had everything working like when it was first installed. We looked through multiple designers, contractors, etc. and decided to go with David and Inside Out. Our overall goal was to maximize the backyard space for play, add bike storage, benches for seating, tropical plants, and a grill space. We went through a couple design iterations with David. He had great recommendations on plants, great thoughts on design and was flexible on the fly. We originally were trying to save some existing plants moving them to another location but I am glad we cleared everything out and started with a clean slate. We were also thinking about a raised garden but decided to go with storage benches, another decision I am glad we made. His team took out all the pea gravel, jackhammered and removed the concrete slab, removed sand/dirt accordingly, removed all existing plants/trees. His team was very professional, they arrived/left at the same time everyday. We added two benches with storage which was a great hit during many play dates having multiple places for adults and kids to seat/play. We also store various toys, gym equipment (weights for me), bbq items in plastic containers so they do not get wet with the morning dew or rain. The bike storage unit is practically waterproof. Everything stays cool and dry even when it pours in the winter. The turf is still flat, no crazy gopher mounds like you get elsewhere in the Outer Sunset (they installed gopher wire below the turf). Our plants: *King Palms *Queen Palms *Fern trees *Podocarpus Elongatus (ice tree) *Giant Birds of Paradise *Other plants Inside Out also does maintenance and guarantees the plants for the 1st year. We have them come out monthly and have had them replace some of the smaller plants as some did not last. All of the large plants and trees are doing great along with the Giant Birds of Paradise. We also had Inside Out build us a trash bin area out front after they finished the backyard. Everything looks great! Many of our neighbors and friends have commented on how great our backyard looks. We even got a nice note from a neighbor we did not know saying how he enjoys waking up with the view of palm trees out of his bedroom window. Very competent and profession people, just a little pricey…read more I called these guys to fix a problem that another company created. A previous contractor had broken some of the PVC pipes that came out of my sprinkler system and they "fixed" them. Unfortunately they did not fix them correctly. I only found out after I made some changes to my irrigation system. I needed AJS to revise the PVC pipes coming out of two valves in my system so that one pipe went to my backyard and two pipes went to two areas in my front yard. Because there are a lot of pipes in a small area I wanted someone else to do it. So I called AJS. It was easy to make an appt. The 3-person crew showed up within the 2 hour window. I appreciated the foreman's concern about making sure it was clear exactly what needed to be done before they started the work. After two hours they completed the work and I am very happy with the results. They were clearly more concerned about getting the job done right rather than getting it done quickly. My only complaint is about the cost: $515 for two hours of work and parts (a few PVC parts). They have a set schedule for work, and treated this as two broken pipes, plus an hourly labor cost and parts. In the end it seemed significantly higher than I expected. I would consider using them again, but would like to get a better idea of the cost before starting the work. FYI, they charge a minimum of $115 for a service call, which is reasonable.

Our problem: We have an irrigation system with 9 valves mapping to 9 different zones on the…read moremicrocontroller. Zones 1-4 stopped working suddenly. Also our Zone 9 was disconnected and we had a separate "workaround wire" for Zone 9 which we never liked because it was a visible extraneous wire glommed on as a hack/workaround. Quote: Ramon came to our place and gave us an honest quote. No blanket solutions like "replace all the wiring", "replace all valves", "replace the controller", etc. Ramon has a device that can trace the electrical wires (from the controller to the valve) and locate the disconnect. No digging up of wires involved. Solution: Ramon showed up punctually for the appointment and found the disconnect. The previous crew had spliced bunch of wires which was susceptible to disconnection. Ramon put in the proper connectors and gave us a 5-year warranty on his work. Now all the zones are working nicely and no superfluous/extraneous wires. Ramon also replaced some sprinkler heads and drip outlets that seemed broken. Solid work and great value. Master Tech Irrigation is likely the most honest and capable crew in the Bay Area at this point.
