This review is overdue, but add me to the list of very happy clients of Master Tech Irrigation. Having interviewed several contractors for this project, it was quickly apparent that Ramon is an experienced, irrigation expert and he would be able to address our needs. The project entailed mapping an existing irrigation system, replacing an aging controller, and identifying / fixing leaks. During that process, he resolved mismatched sprinkler heads that a handyman had used to band-aid a previous issue. He did also warn that he suspects other leaks may exist in the main line that will require more serious leak detection (but that's my next project). Due to rainstorms, I didn't run the system for a few weeks - after the first run, the water usage still seemed a bit high. I found a couple of issues after testing the individual zones (easy task with my new irrigation maps) and notified Ramon. Last Nov, we let go of our gardener who has been managing our yard for the previous few years. As we took over the service ourselves, we noticed that many of my sprayers were not covering the lawn entirely and that a few plants were getting water, but others were not. Since the irrigation system was 22 years old and San Jose is moving forward with water restrictions, We felt this was an excellent opportunity to put more efficient sprayers and add bubblers. Oddly enough, maybe because of Covid, most companies wanted us to send pictures of our existing system to provide us a quote over email. On a Friday, we discovered a significant leak in our irrigation and had to turn off all our sprinklers in the middle of the recent 100+ degree heat spell. I hired Ramon and Master Tech because a couple of my sprinkler zones stopped working, and there were a few problems related to the original installation (done by someone else years ago), which was not done properly in a variety of ways (e.g. cooper and galvanized pipe connections). The installation issue was the underlying cause of some valves going bad, which led to the sprinkler zones not working. He relocated and properly installed new valves, and redid/fixed some of my drip lines. My system now works great! He was very prompt and communicative about the entire process, and I thought he was very fair and transparent. In fact, my job ended up being a little more complicated than he originally thought, but he still only charged the original estimate, which was priced competitively. Aside from this, he cares a lot about maintaining relationships with his customers. 2 days after he fixed our system, one of the drip lines broke. Although I didn't see it happen, I'm pretty confident it was one of my kids and not a defect in the original system. Despite this, Ramon came out later that day and fixed the problem without charge. As a new mom, I wanted to get back into gardening after having missed a season, but I knew that I couldn't commit as much time to hand watering all of my plants as before. I was also interested in putting up a number of hanging plants for the first time, but learned that they required frequent watering over the hot summer months (up to once a day). I did some research online to see if installing an irrigation drip system was something I could do on my own, and quickly realized that I would need a professional.
