We hashed out the details with Nate over email. Our area was 8.5 feet by 21.5 feet and involved digging out the subgrade, setting concrete and rebar, tiles (including a curved path), and gravel. We set the construction date for February 19th which lasted until February 25th. Jesus, the foreman, was great at communicating the steps required for the build. He would often check in to make sure that we got the end product we desired and was receptive to feedback for the design. With their workmanship guarantee, we have nothing to worry about. Overall, the process was smooth and hassle free. We would be happy to recommend them to others for their landscaping needs.

He's great with communication, and his estimate was right on point. I had some drainage work done at my house which trashed my entire irrigation system, so I needed to have it replaced, both in the front and back yard. The McKay crew did a bang up job of it. They came in on time and on budget. They had the whole system laid out and running within about two days. Then Sherman spent some time with me to make sure I knew how to operate the controllers. In fact, they do more than irrigation, and I will likely have them come back and put in some new plants and do some other work in my backyard. A plumber recommended replacing the sprinkler valve, but Machtinger Landscaping came out and saved us from unnecessary repairs as it is working as it is supposed to and explained why. I now know to trust Machtinger Landscaping as opposed to a plumber who isn't qualified nor licensed to work with sprinkler systems. Noah was super helpful, he replaced a sprinkler riser, tried to investigate a water hammering issue, and adjusted the watering coverage of the lawn, and didn't charge us for any of his time. He is very responsive, helpful, and knowledgeable. I would definitely call him back again.

A previous contractor had broken some of the PVC pipes that came out of my sprinkler system and they "fixed" them. Unfortunately they did not fix them correctly. I only found out after I made some changes to my irrigation system. I needed AJS to revise the PVC pipes coming out of two valves in my system so that one pipe went to my backyard and two pipes went to two areas in my front yard. Because there are a lot of pipes in a small area I wanted someone else to do it. So I called AJS. It was easy to make an appt. The 3-person crew showed up within the 2 hour window. I appreciated the foreman's concern about making sure it was clear exactly what needed to be done before they started the work. After two hours they completed the work and I am very happy with the results. They were clearly more concerned about getting the job done right rather than getting it done quickly. My only complaint is about the cost: $515 for two hours of work and parts (a few PVC parts). They have a set schedule for work, and treated this as two broken pipes, plus an hourly labor cost and parts. In the end it seemed significantly higher than I expected. I would consider using them again, but would like to get a better idea of the cost before starting the work. FYI, they charge a minimum of $115 for a service call, which is reasonable.

Logan got back to me…read moreright away and set up an appointment to check out my mess of a drip system (I had tried to repair myself and wisely decided to turn it over to more capable hands). Logan came out and was up front and honest about "high end/low end" costs based on issues that may come up. We scheduled and the job was done in short order. Cost was lower than anticipated and Logan outlined various ways I could save money based on what I wanted to do. He was making sure I got the best value for my money. Also, his guys are pleasant, respectful, and communicative. Some landscape companies I have used in the past made me worried that the guys were casing my place to rob it later..... We are planning a whole back yard remodel and I will be using S.L.&G. for the job. Treat yourself, don't cheat yourself and contact these guys for your landscape needs.

With just me and my mom holding down the fort, we haven't gotten around to the garden work in several years. Sustainable L&G came for an initial consultation - to scope out the property and to hear what we wanted to do. Logan approximated it would take 1-2 days to tackle the mess of a yard. Two weeks later, Logan and team came to our house and immediately start hacking away at the jungle that was our yard. The team was extremely respectful of our house and the residents. The staff knocked on our door at the end of the day to have us inspect their work to see if we approved/needed anything else. They accommodated all the other wishes my mom had (random tree hacking/bush removal/etc). The process took one whole day and by the end, our property was completely transformed. They left all the trimmings in one part of our drive way to collect the next morning. My one complaint is that they were later than initially stated. However, once I contacted the other owner (Chen) - Logan immediately called me back and set up another time for pick up. Luckily, my day was pretty open and this did not interfere with my day. Logan was very friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I know that my mom and I will definitely use Sustainable L&G again in the future.

Our problem: We have an irrigation system with 9 valves mapping to 9 different zones on the…read moremicrocontroller. Zones 1-4 stopped working suddenly. Also our Zone 9 was disconnected and we had a separate "workaround wire" for Zone 9 which we never liked because it was a visible extraneous wire glommed on as a hack/workaround. Quote: Ramon came to our place and gave us an honest quote. No blanket solutions like "replace all the wiring", "replace all valves", "replace the controller", etc. Ramon has a device that can trace the electrical wires (from the controller to the valve) and locate the disconnect. No digging up of wires involved. Solution: Ramon showed up punctually for the appointment and found the disconnect. The previous crew had spliced bunch of wires which was susceptible to disconnection. Ramon put in the proper connectors and gave us a 5-year warranty on his work. Now all the zones are working nicely and no superfluous/extraneous wires. Ramon also replaced some sprinkler heads and drip outlets that seemed broken. Solid work and great value. Master Tech Irrigation is likely the most honest and capable crew in the Bay Area at this point.
