I recommend staying away. Policy was to pay in advance. Alex closed the training facility with 4 days notification;refusing to refund multiple members. We had to take him to small claims court to get our money back. The judge decided in our favor. Thank God for justice! read more

My kids have been going to Alex for years now. My daughter trained with Alex after a concussion injury and to get in shape. My daughter loved working with Alex who was patient and when basketball season started my daughter was In shape and ready to go. Years later her little sister broke her ankle and wanted to build up the strength in her ankle, but also get back in shape. She is always shy with trainers being only 12, sit she came back after her 1st workout and injured working with Alex and everyone working out in the area was so nice and encouraging. read more

I don't even know where to begin. What Alex and his brother Anthony offer here is beyond what I had even hoped for when I was referred here. I've been dealing with chronic pain, I'm older, and I refuse to slow down and give in. They understand that. In just a couple of months, I've gone from constant pain to being able to tear my yard up, and then go for a workout. I just wanted to get my 5-star review in as soon as possible so anyone else considering ADV's Going Vertical can just stop reading and sign up (haha!), but I'll leave an update review later as I progress. To sum up, I came to him with chronic pain literally from neck to toe, on a referral from my physical therapist--5 stars there, too; it's Kinections, Inc. owned by Lino Cedros); it's only been three months and I'm so much more flexible than I used to be, and able to sustain the 20-minute car ride to his facility. It used to be agony from the moment I got into the car until well after getting out. So much more to say about this man, his family, values, how he conducts business, how he shows up in life... but I'll have to end it here for now. I'd recommend Going Vertical to anyone. I didn't come here to get ripped--I came to reverse years of chronic pain--but the physical changes are definitely visible--and the reduced pain I'm in lately is proof that Alex and company know their stuff. While Alex seems nice, I found his help to be very generic as it appears he has everyone doing similar exercises and stretches. I asked him for a refund of my prepaid visits due to having physical therapy that was different from his routine and told him I moved out of the area he said he does not give refunds. This is unacceptable to me and wonder if his policy is even legal. read more

I had to leave a review. His new facility is awesome, the equipment here is nothing like your normal neighborhood gym. It's a great feeling when you work with trainers that mean business. Everyone here sweats, works, and earns that after workout grin. The pricing is right, where else can you get one on one training for reasonable prices with real results. I've spent tons of cash at Family Fitness, but never could get the results I was looking for. Alex has a awesome demeaner and I would no problem recommending this place to everyone I know. I often see professional atheletes here but it's not intimidating like one might think. It's inspiring to see them, and even more inspiring to see families here taking working out serious. My son is junior in high school and plays on the varsity football team. We were looking for a top notch speed trainer and Alex came highly recommended from the Head Coach of a top track and field program in the area. My son started training with Alex about a month ago in order to work on his speed and conditioning during the off season. He said that he is already seeing and feeling the results of his training! He also really enjoys working with Alex and the rest of the Going Vertical staff. Alex has state of the art equipment....things you imagine would be in an NFL training facility. AVD Going Vertical is great for all ages. Alex and Mike know sports training because they have lived it all their lives. My sons have been going for a couple of years and when they go regularly and do as instructed, they are ripped. I mean, you will be a beast if you stick to the program. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to work out in this great facility when I visited Sacramento last week. I had seen huge changes in my daughter and grand kids who were all working out at Going Vertical. Right away Alex made me feel comfortable and confident that he would give me a great and safe workout. The atmosphere in the gym is very motivating. I absolutely love this establishment. I've been going here on and off for 3 years. I now bring my young football star here to train as well. These work outs absolutely work. My son has a edge over every kid on the field, and only I know why.....Alex is why. My child is the fastest and his endurance is very high. I got up off the couch and into Alex Van Dykes Going Vertical several years ago. I got tired of watching my son work out and decided I needed to get in shape. The atmosphere is amazing here at Going Vertical. I feel so comfortable here, huffing and puffing my middle aged body around -which I have never felt anywhere else. I can now run, do lots of crunches, lift weights... and many other things I could never do. Alex, Mike and Drew are exceptional trainers. They are athletes, and they do a great job with the athletes that work out here to improve their speed, agility etc., but they are equally wonderful with us Cardio people! it is like getting a personal trainer, in a small and very supportive group! I have tried other ways to get regular exercise but this is the ONLY thing I have ever done regularly year after year. It works!! It is not easy, but the results from working out here come super fast! I feel great! read more
