I've been putting off writing this review because I wanted to give it the attention it deserves. I have moved many times in the past and have had some horrible experiences. This was the exact opposite of that! Kecia, John and their crew couldn't have been more professional and made the entire process smooth and uneventful. We moved from CT to FL and they stayed on target in terms of promised timelines and dates. Communication couldn't have been more efficient. Our belonging arrived without damage as they very much took the time to ensure things were packed properly. You can tell the team has worked together for some time as they worked as a team who cared about our belonging as though they were their own. I sincerely recommend them for all types of moving both local and long haul. There's no broken promises, no changes in price or surprises. The best parts of working Jonathan Alexander & Sons were their great communication and their speed. I requested a quote on Yelp after seeing a handful of positive reviews here (and no negative ones). I had a tight deadline, as the warehouse holding my goods was about to close. I had already asked for estimates from two nearby storage companies, only to find either negative or mixed reviews for them on Yelp and elsewhere on the web, so I was concerned about finding a reputable company. Kecia responded to me via Yelp immediately, and when she realized I was located overseas, she called me on WhatsApp to inquire about my move. She reached out to the warehouse right away and arranged a visit with them the following day. She then scheduled the pickup for later that week, well within the deadline, having already sent me the contract and given me a quote, etc. Because I could not be present for the move, Kecia sent photos of my goods once they reached the unit at Jonathan Alexander. The inventory provided was very clear and easy to read (which is never a guarantee) ... and because of that, as well as the photos, I quickly realized that my biggest and most expensive item had not been accounted for. Luckily, she had even thought to photograph and send the original inventory from the old warehouse. It turned out that the old company had been storing the large item separately from my other stuff, and had forgotten about it! Pretty stressful, but Kecia worked with them on it and made sure to get it picked up, still within the deadline. Throughout the entire process, including the curveball at the end, she kept me updated via WhatsApp, email and phone, so I never had to worry -- I knew the company was on top of everything and working quickly. read more

These people are ridiculous. I schedule a very simple move, (within the same building) I asked for a confirmation email and they call me shorty thereafter to tell me that they're just not going to do it. They gave me a reason that was clearly a lie and was very quick to hang the phone on me. Basically 'we can't do it we don't care bye'. Two days before the move. I live three hours north from where they are headquartered, and I would still use them over competitors who are closer in proximity. This family owned company cares about your move. Kecia, who oversees the business aspect of the company, was working hand-in-hand with the moving team, packing items away, to ensure that we would move in a timely and efficient manner. Each mover (and again, I can't stress this enough) was so kind to my kids. Pricing is very fair and the attention to detail is impeccable. We can not say enough good things about Alexander & Sons! Everyone dreads moving for about a gazillion reasons, rightfully so. From the get-go, we went to the Better Business Bureau to find A+ rated companies because we did not want to have one of those horror stories where your stuff is held hostage, you're charged way more than quoted, or the moving crew shows up trashed. I reached out to 5-6 companies on a Sunday, and Kecia responded within minutes. We ended up getting 4 full quotes. A&S landed in the mid range price-wise, but we could tell that they would stand by their word and be available to us throughout the process, so we decided the extra $$ was well worth it. Kecia did a FaceTime walk-through to avoid extra in-person visits during the pandemic. Super thorough, and not a thing changed from the FT walkthrough to the final quote to the price we paid when they left our new doorstep at drop-off. We packed most things ourselves, and she gave us good tips to make sure they wouldn't have to undo/redo anything and to ensure the protection of the boxes on the trip. We did an exclusive (direct, our stuff only) move from NJ to Chicago. Pickup on a Friday and delivery on a Monday (to give me time to get there, too!). The pack-up in NJ was UNREAL. Every single crew member introduced themselves, asked to use the restroom when they needed (totally unnecessary), and wore masks. Jonathan made the rounds telling each person what was next to move things along as quickly as possible. Some of the guys were carrying entire dressers down stairs on their own. The athleticism!! They were so friendly and efficient. They have a well oiled machine at A&S! Drop-off in Chicago was seamless, too, which amazed me. They worked with a local company to have a few more staff, since only some of their usual team made the trip. Kecia did a few "mask checks" as necessary to ensure safety and remind everyone to keep them on. They refused to leave just because they couldn't find a lightbulb for one of the lights (the attention to detail!!), but I insisted it was of course fine. No damages (What?! How is that possible?!). At the end of what must have been such a long day for them, a couple of the guys helped me even more by taking stuff into a storage unit (totally unplanned because things were just too chaotic around that time for me to have thought ahead!). If it wasn't yet clear, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALEXANDER & SONS. (We have family who might be working with them soon, too, based on our experience.)I even feel like I have a new friend in Kecia. We were mentally prepared for this to be a super stressful experience no matter what, and Kecia, Jonathan, and their entire team ensured it was the exact opposite. Go with A&S, for sure!! read more

Move started off a little rough because of a circumstance they couldn't control (they were running several hours late due to another job) Kecia personally came and apologized for the inconvenience. She even offered to have the move done at no cost- which was extremely courteous. But We couldn't accept that offer because they are a family owned business and they did exceptional work. also they were the most efficient and thorough movers I've ever dealt with. Constantly asking if the placement of things were OK with me. The movers and the company went above and beyond to correct the issue. They ALL are hard working and genuinely good people- in the end everything went smoothly. Thank you for making my move less stressful, I will 100% use them again. We had an excellent experience with this company. They wrapped everything and took such good care of our things. Can't say enough good about this company. Highly recommended. Also no bait and switch on the price. A friend had used a well known competitive company. They were supposed to show up at 8 a.m. and they arrived at 6 p.m. Also when that company couldn't fit her couch up the stairway at her new home they charged her the mileage and time to drive the couch back 20 miles to the original home. read more

I have used Alexander & Sons services 4+ times in the past few years, beginning in '10. They have moved my entire apartment contents to and from CT/NY to Florida multiple times. They are the only firm that I would trust with my personal possessions. My 1st meeting with them came when I had to move from Stamford CT to West Palm Beach FL. The mover that I had already reserved cancelled the day before they were supposed to move me. I called Alexander & Sons out of desperation and not only did they come by for an immediate quote (far less than the previous firm), they assured me that they could handle everything. And sure enough- they did. Everything was wrapped & packed securely and safely; care was taken to make sure all my fragile items were isolated and wrapped separately and to top it off, they had me inspect and make sure that all my items were accounted for before the move. They kept me informed of daily progress and at the delivery's end, they made sure I was involved in every step of unloading and moving inot my new apartment. Since that 1st move, they have helped move from FL back to NY, then from NY into a storage facility and then back again from NY to FL. I cannot say enough good things about this firm. Kecia responds promptly to all communication and is wonderful to deal with. Forget the big box, national movers- Kecia and the team at Alexander & Sons are incredible. read more
