However, we were surprised twice by unexpected bills that somehow were our responsibility even though our insurance had fully covered it the previous 2 visits. His admin/ billing staff continued to send past due payments for a simple cleaning that is always covered by insurance. After calling my insurance company, they said no coverage lapsed or changed but that he had raised his rates. The office did not inform us of this and expected us to just know. After a phone call to one of his staff, it's clear they do not have patients best interest in mind. The staff was condescending, blaming (saying "it's not our responsibility to know what your insurance should be paying" and "we don't have a crystal ball to see into the future") There could have been a better way to answer my questions and handle the situation. It's just unfortunate to lose patients over $50. So of course now the bill is paid but I feel completely misunderstood and dismissed by a business that should be mindful of customer satisfaction. Responses like "I completely understand your frustration" or "yes, this is absolutely something we can work out. Let's see what the options are, perhaps we can resubmit this claim..." Lesson I learned is not to do any standard cleaning unless I'm fully educated about price increases and insurance agreements with the provider.
