So typically, I'm at my local Firestone two or three times a month as I drive a lot of miles for my job and need frequent work and oil changes. Easiest time for me to go is Monday morning to place, Chris's diner isn't open on Monday. There's also multiple other restaurants in this area like Little Venice and Burger Mondays that oddly enough will the name like Burger Monday... Is also closed on Monday. So I found myself looking for another option and Alexander's wasn't too far of a walk. I'm very happy that I did take a chance on this place. I typically have a lot of sandwiches while I'm driving so I wasn't really too cracked up about the idea of going to a little sandwich place but with the lack of options I figured why not. It's kind of a small place and you order at the counter which is right next to the kitchen. They basically have a fine selection of paninis, some breakfast items, a few soups and a couple of desserts. It's located downtown near the office buildings and as I was there at a little after 12:00 in the afternoon it filled up pretty quick. The home menu was written on a chalkboard behind the front counter so it took me a little bit to look at it and figure it out however I settled for a panini called the chenango, and I wasn't disappointed.. You basically order at the counter and if you want to eat there they give you a little number on a stick and you'll go find yourself a table and they'll bring it out to you when it's ready. Unfortunately, the contents of panini were COLD inside- not sure if thats the intent of how they make the sandwiches but the cheese was fully cold and 0% melted. Bread was good and the best part because it was warm but was super disappointing because I was so excited for this panini and it just didn't hit the spot. Hoping it was just a one off- would try again if i ever end up back in the area and just ask the staff to maybe cook it extra? I'm all about supporting local businesses. Why go to panera when you can go to a cute locally owned cafe with unique food thats homemade from the chef? I have NOT been cooking lately, its just not convenient as a traveling nurse. I stopped by Alexanders Cafe for a quick lunch and I'm SO glad I picked this spot! I think its a little pricey to be honest but everything is homemade with the best ingredients. I got their homemade butternut squash soup (3/5) the flavor was off, somewhat bland. But better with pepper and salt. I also got the napoleon panini (5/5) delicious fresh motz, portobello mushrooms, roasted red peppers, & balsamic aioli. So good. People were bringing their dogs in, standing in line, and ordering right by the kitchen and I thought that was gross and unsanitary as well. The food was bland. If you're in a rush and Chef knows it, he'll call you *by name* and get your order started as you walk through the door. You can be in and out in a matter of minutes, so if you're on the go searching for a relatively healthy and full-bodied quality meal this is your place. Don't be afraid to call ahead, either. I'm not a dessert guy in the SLIGHTEST, but I'm quite certain those chocolate peanut butter "CookieWichs" are crafted by angels and forged from the leftover happy-crying tears of dog lovers in the Triple cities that haven't already drained into the Binghamton Aquifer. They are quite literally the tastiest treat I've ever had the privilege of tasting. The way Chef combines flavors into these divine masterpieces is unreal. Surreal. Every single sandwich I've gotten here I've unwrapped like my first birthday present and savored like my last meal. My favorite is the London broil stuffed WH Lane. I'll tell you it's so good it should be illegal...for driving in the wrong Lane. Eating it is as close to a religious experience I've ever had the blessing to experience. Take your friends and coworkers. Send your family in town for your family reunion. They will be impressed with your taste in Sandwich Culture. Decided to stop by to pick up lunch for my family and I since I had business nearby and everything was so good! I had the Mr. Lucky panini and a turtle pie. The panini was very filling and I like that you can choose the cheese you want on it. The turtle pie was very unique, and even though it was so hard to choose a dessert looking at everything they had I don't regret my choice (although I'm tempted to come back to try the rest). I also tried some of their shamrock shake and it was just as delightful as everything else, and tastier than the fast food version. The staff was really nice and patient. The chef on the other hand is so awesome! He's young and friendly, and makes awesome sandwiches. I really hope this place succeeds. The Scorcher, a spicy chicken panini is my go to option for lunch. The chef specials are also frequently excellent, including the pastrami reuben that i just enjoyed. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. They also have great desserts. Alexander's is a hidden gem in Binghamton. I wanted to go for a while but honestly wasn't expecting too much. My friends and I came on a Saturday around noon and it wasn't too busy. We sat down and had to wait for our friend so we held off on ordering for a while. The owner saw us sitting for a while and made sure we knew where to order. After we finally ordered, the food all came out really quick and they made sure to modify the orders however we asked. I ordered the french onion soup and the 123 court. The french onion soup was delicious but could have been slightly bigger for the price. The paninis were well priced and delicious. The 123 court had roast beef, garlic aioli spinach, and a feta cheese mix. The whole sandwich was great but honestly, the bread might have been what stood out to me most. The bread was amazing, which is really important in a sandwich. My friends all had the Chenango sandwich, which was really good as well. All in all, Alexander's is a small and nice sandwich shop, whose owner truly cares about the customer experience. I had my first experience at Alexander's after hearing glowing reviews from my fiance. To be honest, I was jealous when I first heard about this "fantastic cafe" that he went to for lunch with a coworker. HE KNOWS I LOVE SANDWICHES. After reconciling due to this ultimate betrayal, I guilted him into bringing me here for lunch. I should have been more prepared, ya'll. When we arrived at Alexander's, I was so overwhelmed by the number of choices that I froze. Soup? Salad? Wrap? Panini? What do I choose? Everything sounded so good. I should have done some recon prior to arrival. There was a line building up behind us, so I impulsively blurted out "IwanttheAlexanderandacupofChickencheddarBroccolisoupplease." I am a self-proclaimed Broccoli cheese soup connoisseur, as it is my all time favorite. Alexander's soup is fantastic; I love how he incorporated chicken into it. In addition to my soup, I ordered the Alexander Panini: turkey, provolone, roasted red peppers and aioli. The sandwich was hot, fresh, and very flavorful. The portions are also very generous! I was only able to eat half of my sandwich. I finished the other half for lunch today, which inspired me to write my review. I will briefly touch on the customer service.
