I found Alexandra's on the Howard County Restaurant week list and was won over by their menu. It's located within the Turf Valley Resort. The restaurant looks like most restaurants that are located within hotels. I came on a Friday which happens to be the night for live music. I sat at the bar and was greeted right away. The bartender was very nice and attentive. Here are the items I ordered and my thoughts on them: Black Cherryflo-rita: It is pretty much a cherry margarita. It was very good but a tad bit too sweet. Bartender was heavy handed with the tequila and I appreciated that. You probably wouldn't want two of them because all the sugar may give you a headache. Cheesesteak eggroll: good but not great. It was on the oily side. It was more of a steak eggroll with Cotija cheese sauce served on the side. The menu said it came with deli hots but I didn't taste any. Filet Mignon: It was topped with a rosemary demiglace and served with roasted new potatoes and grilled asparagus. Filet was cooked perfectly. Demiglace was slightly salty but it helped to balance out the potatoes and asparagus which could have used some salt. Overall, it was a great meal in a cool atmosphere. read more

We invited guests for brunch Sunday, August 30. The service was non-existent. Not even water was served when we were seated. Our food, which most of us ordered from the a la carte menu, was served one full hour after we arrived, and then, only after I went for help from someone on the staff. Then, after their abysmal performance, we were charged an"auto service" fee, most undeserved! The food was OK. Cappuccinos were OK. The tea was lukewarm. Throughout the time we were there, the tables were cleaned with a spray which filled the space with a most unpleasant odor. read more

Alcohol and non alcoholic beverages were flowing, and everyone was happy. 10'1'2023 Welp, a group of 25, and I visited this establishment for someone's 60th birthday brunch. The buffet was sad. I had 50 minutes until we had our facial and massages. We arrive at the restaurant at 2:50pm on a Saturday. Me and my friend was super hungry so we ordered a hamburger and fries before our service. We had a waiter named Alex. We asked him the wait times and he stated 20-30 mins . We then waited until 3:30 to ask him for our drinks only for him to say he's leaving his shift is over. He never brought us our drinks only for us to get another server Jeff and he said he asked Alex what our drinks were and he forgot. Jeff the was very social with another table and seems to not want to be bothered with us. Ten more minutes passed and we asked him about our food. Our drinks came to us at 3:35 and our food came out at 3:45. Mind you the restaurant wasn't busy. Honestly I don't think he put our order in when we ordered because he knew his shift was over. It just sucks we had to rush and eat our food. Long story short in my opinion the service was bad, I don't understand how it wasn't busy at all. read more

Overall nice ambiance, service and decent food it's nice portions. We enjoyed the back, egg and cheese croissant and Chesapeake omelet. The omelet could benefit from more lump crab, but the flavor was good. The view of the golf course made for a calming breakfast. I would recommend if you're in the hotel, but not if you coming just to eat at Alexandra's. There's better options in the area with a larger selection. read more

The view of the golf course sells this place. We came for the Thursday $40 prefix menu as advertised by an IG influencer, but quickly learned that it was ''members only'. Disappointing but they honored us anyway and provided menus. We had a new waitress so we were patient with her. Overall the main courses were great. Our group of 6 ordered salads, crab soup, crab cakes, steak variations and salmon - all good. The smashed potatoes were not smashed - they were fingerlings. That should be clarified on the menu. I'd return to try their normal menu options - the apps looked appetizing! We also got dessert on the house, which was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their options, including raspberry sorbet, carrot cake, apple crumble and tiramisu (mine). The food was excellent and the waiter was friendly, but the interactions in the very beginning and very end of the meal left much to be desired. When we arrived for our reservation, the hostess was seemed annoyed and acted curt. We were able to sit at a table outside, which overlooks the golf course. I preferred this to an indoor table, the inside was a little bit loud for our liking. For cocktails we sampled all of the four special cocktails on the menu. I really liked all of them, with the exception of the Strawberry Lemonade Fizz. It was tasty but I thought it was just a little bland. It tasted like watered down strawberry lemonade. But the Southern Style Smash, Flo-Rita, and Mobtown Martini were very good and tastefully mixed. We started with the Butter Board, which I had thought might be a little closer to a cheese or charcuterie board, but really was just large globs of butter with pitas. The butter was delicious of course, but ultimately the appetizer could be improved by adding some other elements like jams, cheeses, and meats to the plate. The crab soups however, were fantastic!! They have a Cream of Crab soup, which is obviously a white cream based soup. They also have a Maryland Crab soup which is more tomato broth based. The third soup mixes the two of them, I'd recommend this option! Mixing the two together offsets the heaviness of the cream and creates a really delectable flavor. I ordered the lamb chops for my entree. It comes with four chops and is served over a bed of couscous mixed with spinach and chickpeas. A couple of the land shops were a little bit fatty, but they were cooked to perfection and so incredibly tender! I also loved the bed of couscous that the chops sat on. It was a substantial amount and the chickpeas and spinach provided exquisite flavor and texture compliments. My boyfriend ordered the Shrimp Stir Fry and was pleased with it he said the amount of food was substantial and the spice level was perfect. The one downside to the dishes that the shrimp are served with the tails on but other than that it was a fine dish. My mom got a filet cooked to her liking and ate every morsel. We ended our meal with the Apple Streusel dessert, which was basically an apple crisp topped with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzled with caramel. Really good, and pretty big and definitely shareable for two. While we were finishing up our desserts and drinks, one of the employees came over and told us that they would be locking the door to get back into the resort. This rubbed me the wrong way because I felt like I was being rushed to finish my meal, and I felt the door shouldn't be locked until we had gotten up and left. We did have a late reservation, at 8:30, and the restaurant closes at 10:00 p.m., but I think it's important not to chase late reservations out of a restaurant, and this made the difference between three and four stars for me. I would recommend this restaurant if you're staying at the resort. Great experience we came for HH and they also had steak night the food was really good and it was a beautiful place to be at. We got nachos they were good not the best I ever had but it was still nice. The steak was cooked perfectly And the Cesar salad was a 10/10 no complaints the bartender was also really nice One star taken away because the house manager was very rude for no reason I'm not sure what her name was but started off polite and when we asked for our check that we asked for 30min prior she caught an attitude. It entailed, roasted potatoes, bacon, sausage, eggs / option to create your own omelette. There was baked salmon, vegetables and a delicious tender prime rib. The dessert spread did not disappoint; offering chocolate mousse, strawberry shortcake, fresh warm bread pudding and freshly cut fruit. This place was adorable. A family member selected this place for a small, family celebration. It's adjacent to a golf course and located inside of a hotel. Though we did not have reservations, the 5 of us were seated immediately. The outdoor patio was large and provided a beautiful view of the golf course and fountain. The indoor dining area is spacious and simplistic with minimal decor. Our waiter was excellent. For example, he described the appetizers we were interested in because some of them (like the nachos) are served in a non-traditional manner. We had the calamari and brussel sprouts. Both apps were good. I didn't love the sauce that came with the calamari but the calamari was good alone. It was crispy, fresh and seasoned well. The brussel sprouts had crispy bacon mixed into the buffalo sauce base. I ordered the maple glazed salmon and it was so good. The roasted potato and mixed veggies that come with it were a nice compliment. My partner loved his brisket sandwich. They pack it with meat that is tender and top it with fried onions. To my surprise, the flavor was great and did not need any salt or condiments. The others in our party ordered a classic burger. It was huge and they enjoyed them. The dessert menu is diverse. We opted to get 2 different sorbet flavors: vanilla, pineapple basil and honey dew. Both flavors were good with the honey dew having a creamier texture than the vanilla, pineapple basil flavor, which had the traditional gelato texture. Came here for a happy hour with some old friends visiting in town. Let me tell you, I think we struck gold. It was a perfect day sitting outside in the shade having a real cold one and trying out new foods. One dish that blew me away is the brisket nachos. This dish is not like a nacho supreme type but 4 tortilla with the smoked brisket on top with some fixings. What I tasted was very smoky and delicious. I mean that was it right there. I really can't remember the other appetizers or even the burger because I was fixated on the brisket. And this from a man who doesn't particularly care for brisket because I've seen some places butcher it by making it too dry. This was not that. Crab cakes we had were good but service lacked! We had dinner here before the Reagan Years 80s band show event we were attending at Turf Valley. Our dinner bill for 5 was just under $300. Hubby picked up bill and my 3 other friends put in cash for tips total $70, which I thought was undeserved! BUT under current Covid thing was the right thing to do for the service industry. It just left a bad taste in my mouth knowing our server barely provided service. He took our orders and another guy delivered our food. We even flagged other servers for straws or ice after waiting awhile and we had to flag the receptionist to bring us the bill. Service doesn't have to be bad, just saying... My friends said their food was okay, one ordered a steak $44, another a salmon $34, shrimp cocktail (4 pcs) $18, hubby's crabcakes (2 pcs) with small amount of fries and slaw was $48. Located in a golf focused hotel, Alexandra's has a beautiful view of the kept golf green outside. The furniture throughout the hotel could use a facelift and modernization. I came to Alexandra's for lunch. Grabbed a salad with an added crab cake. The crab add on was pricey at $19, but tasty. The greens were fresh and the balsamic dressing nicely flavored. A very interesting space tucked inside the resort hotel, we enjoyed their Christmas eve buffet greatly. I was a bit disappointed in the festive level- there was definitely tinsel and decorations on the buffet tables but there was nothing on the walls or hanging off the upper level railings so it all just felt dated, not special. I loved the food overall and the holiday drinks were indeed festive and delicious. It was all you can eat and you could absolutely indulge in huge shrimp, prime rib, pasta bar, charcuterie, cookies, cheesecakes, hot cocoa bread pudding. I might recommend additional hot cooks for the pasta bar and smaller pieces- the line gets bad with just 2 cook tops and large chunks to try and cook quickly. The Mother's Day brunch was very underwhelming. I'm giving two stars because our server (Justice?) was great and my mimosa was never empty! The food itself is mediocre at best. Long lines for the omelette station. A problem is that there are no scrambled eggs on the buffet. If you want scrambled eggs you have to wait for the omelette station. The bread selection was poor. I would have loved a bagel, but would have settled for a piece of toast or an English muffin. The only non sweet bread item was an inedibly dry cheddar scone. We just went this weekend for the Santa breakfast and Santa was wonderful as always. He was very sweet and took lots of time with each child. The buffet on the other hand was terrible. The eggs were dry and had no flavor, the sausage tasted like jerky. My daughter didn't even like the bacon! The desserts were good, but the main courses were definitely lacking. This is for their Fairway Bar upstairs from the main dining room. Let's say understanding a great bar experience is one of the few things right in my wheelhouse. I've experienced the best, and the worst, nationally and internationally. And my reviews are usually more nuanced, factoring in multiple elements. It's rare that a single part of the experience can make the full grade. The main bartender, Kevin is a consummate professional in every sense of the word. The view of the grounds was beautiful and the option of buffet style meal we chose was spot on. Everyone raved about all of the food and dessert, but particularly the beef brisket and the bread pudding. I returned a month later with my girlfriends for my bday. I wanted to treat my wife to a nice dinner for her birthday and chose to go to Alexandra's from the many other choices that we have nearby. We arrived for an early dinner at 5:30, were seated and greeted by our server about a minute later. We ordered drinks and appetizers, cream of crab soup and shrimp cocktail. The soup was very good and had the perfect amount of crab meat. Portion size was good as well. The shrimp cocktail was nothing special. It contained only 4 pieces of shrimp and could have been presented better. Perhaps a bit of crushed ice in the glass to sit the cocktail sauce on. Also I think that it should have had 5 pieces of shrimp instead of 4. My wife ordered the Spicy Honey Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry and I ordered the 16oz ribeye . Both arrived in a reasonable amount of time and were presented nicely on the plates. My wife enjoyed her shrimp but found the red chili a bit too strong. Luckily the chili was presented on the side of the plate which allowed her to only use a small bit of it to spice her shrimp up a little. Overall she said that her meal was very good and had the perfect portion of shrimp to rice. As for my ribeye, it looked nice, tender and juicy. Well I was disappointed as soon as I tried to cut into it. It was cooked to medium rare as I requested but was on the tough side. It appeared to be a choice cut of beef but for the price that I paid, $42, I would expect a prime cut instead. It wasn't seasoned in any way but was eatable after applying a bit of salt and pepper. I ate it but it wasn't very happy with it. For desert we chose the Peach Cardamom Crisp which was extremely good with fresh peach slices and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall the dining experience was good but not exceptional for the price that I paid. Cocktails, appetizers, entrees and desert ran about $125, which was a bit high for the quality which I will only rate our dining experience at no more than 4 stars. read more

This restaurant should have been a great place for brunch, and from the other reviews they have a good happy hour so i had high hopes. This restaurant is located in the turf valley golf club so the views from all angles were scenic. You walk into the lobby and can directly look over the railing into the dining room below. That was a nice touch. Going down the steps there was a man who abruptly stopped us to ask if we were lost. Odd question sir but no I know where im going. Downstairs the hostess sat us at a great table (see picture) that sas nice to look at during the meal. The decor was fine nothing jumped out to say the furnishings were chosen with a specific theme in mind. Id imagine the tables and chairs have been there and will continue to be there. Onto the food, this was a brunch buffet but no waffle or pancakes but they did have french toast even though it was tough to cut through and pretty basic flavor wise. There is also an omlette station however the person manning said station couldnt make a decent omelette, the cheese wasnt melted and some of those fresh ingredients looks closer to day old. The breakfast potatoes were dry and hard. The pasta was tasteless. Only sort of bright spot was the carving station even though there was only one meat option. For desert they had chocolate cake, a cheesecake, some pastries and ice cream. The ice cream was melted on top i dont think they thought the presentation though, ice cream cant be kept out for hours without it melting no one wants to eat that. The cake i had was dry that couldnt be in house so whoever they are bulk ordering cake from needs to be considered. This brunch also included mimosas and/or bloody Marys. I am a fan of unlimited drinks with my meal buuutttt i only had my initial drink and 1 refill, our waitress asked me if i would like another clearly after we were done with the meal. Our waitress was perfectly pleasant but she wasnt really around that often, hence the lack of drink refills. There just seemed to be a lack of awareness and the dining room isnt that big nor was it that crowded so i dont know where she got off too. It took us over 15 minutes from the time she took our plates away to even come back and ask if we were done. Not come back with a check but just to ask if we wanted it. And also the check was odd to me. The first copy of the check she presented had the signature line and tip and total line. You filled that out and they just ran your card for everything and you were done is that a new thing? And is the new thing also to have the lowest suggested tip amount listed to be 18%? He mentioned alternatives but then proceeded to say that he did not like how they were prepared. The statement was surprising to me. My friends and I were excited to go here for breakfast, but when we learned they did not offer non-dairy milk, we left and went to another cafe in the area for our breakfast & coffee. Dinner was delicious. My husband and I had our anniversary dinner here and I was throughly pleased. It was a very quiet evening and the ambiance was fitting for the occasion. I ordered the crab caprese salad and was Sooooo good. Jumbo lump crab, delicious fresh tomatoes which were not soft and mushey, nice and firm, mozzarella was amazing and the best balsamic glaze was perfect. I would definitely orde this dish again and it was great as a meal, very filling. My husband ordered the rib eye steak and brussel sprouts hash, both very good. The steak was prepared perfectly and the hash was different but good and tasty, he enjoyed it and the little piece I tried was good. I will be attempting to make this hash at home soon. I also had my version of the Moscow mule, and the bartender did a great job . Dinner ended with chocolate covered strawberries, yummy.
