We love Oscar's -- it's one of our go‑to spots. We usually order the burgers, and they're always delicious. I typically get the Oscar's Alehouse Burger, and it's amazing. My husband gets the classic burger, which is also very good. Our kids usually get the pizza, tenders, or the butter noodles with Parmesan cheese. Their favorites are definitely the tenders and the butter noodles. The fries are very tasty, too. We also always get the pretzel and cheese appetizer, and it's a hit with all of us. The atmosphere is nice, and they have a great selection of draft options -- our go‑to is the Lucky 12. The staff is extremely friendly, and we always feel welcome. Five stars means we really enjoyed our food, experience, and value at Oscar's. We are residents of Ellicott City and live only 10 mins away. I'm surprised that we had not been there before. Since our first visit, I've been back two more times in two weeks. So far, we've tried their special burger, Caribbean chicken wrap, buffalo chicken sandwich, French fries, onion rings, and house salad. Everything was delicious. Service was friendly and fast. We sat at the bar high top this time to watch the football game. When we got there the bar was empty but people packed in slowly and all of a sudden the bar was full! Sam was the bartender and server and she was wonderful. I couldn't decide on the beer and she recommended me some seasonal beers and had me try them. I finally decided on the apple cider beer which wasn't terribly sweet. This time I ordered the shrimp and bacon sandwich with onion rings, which was fantastic. I really love the onion rings at Oscars. It's crispy and doesn't have a lot of batter and the onion is crisp enough to bite into. Also, I really had a good time here with their generous service, really good manners, the kind you'd expect at an American restaurant. Very nice and spacious restaurant. This place definitely gets it. With so much competition, it's great to find a place that does everything really well. They've been very accommodating to a large group I host here monthly and they made sure we were taken care of. Food pacing was perfect and drinks refilled without asking. The food is very consistently good and we shared several appetizers: fried pickles, wings, cheesesteak egg rolls, and hummus. For my entree, this time I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was great. Loved the fry bread although chicken could have had more buffalo sauce; its also really huge. I ended up taking half home so it's enough for 2 meals (and I eat a lot). Love coming here and look forward to next month. read more

We love this place! I was just thinking tonight after our visit that we've never had a bad experience. Food: good, big portions, lots of menu variety, frequent specials, at a good price. We don't have to wait forever to get our food which is nice. Atmosphere: this is just as important in my opinion. The vibe is calm, not super crowded or noisy, and super clean. There's also ample parking. The area seems super safe too. What really makes the whole experience is the servers. Genuinely they are helpful without being intrusive and also fun/funny. I'm not sure who does the hiring at this place but everyone has been great. I truly hope it's as fun working there as it looks from the outside. Everyone keeps busy but seems to have a good time. I'm trying to think of a negative...I think they close sort of early on Sundays or Mondays? Otherwise zero complaints and I hope you try this place! They're great. read more

Oscar's Alehouse First time visiting this jewel of a family style restaurant that is in their Woodstock location. Location: easy to find with lots of free parking close by. Atmosphere- large enclosed areas with a separate area that could easily accommodate private parties. Our group of 12 had a side space pretty much to ourselves on a weekday evening. They also have a covered open patio area with a partial view of the golf course near by. Service- one person was assigned to our group. She was very accommodating, handling separate checks and made sure the kitchen staff was made aware when two in our group had to have special diets prepared and gluten free. She was awesome. Food- was delicious, didn't see much left over on people's plates. The burgers looked juicy and well stacked with fixings and house special sauces. French fries or onion rings were gobbled up. Salads looked freshly made with local ingredients. Prices- reasonably priced and easy to read. Pretty wide selection of daily and weekly specials. Nice selection of mixed drinks or beverages to choose from. Could easily see that this could become a favorite place to grab a meal and become a loyal neighborhood customer. read more

Very tired of the bad service. We go in as a large party and no one waits on us until we ask. We get drinks one person at a time. Food took forever. The worst of it? We waited a half hour to get our checks. Managements knows by the number of reservations how many to plan for. Did not do the Math. There were many options on the menu also. Beer Flights come in two styles Hoppy or House selection. You can't pick which individual beers you want. But regular beer prices come in 3 sizes and price range so that is nice. Forgot to take photos of our entrees as we were hungry. I had Blackened chicken with bacon and avocado and my spouse had the daily burger special - both were good! Best part is the fries are like boardwalk fries and not with a coating. HIDDEN GEM in Frederick! In a very basic looking small shopping plaza. Casual atmosphere. We came here for lunch on a Saturday, didn't have to wait long to be seated, restaurant was about half full. Service was great, multiple waiters served our table and they were all prompt, friendly, and attentive. Service was fast. I ordered the beer battered (fried) grouper sandwich and it was incredible! The brioche bun tasted buttery and was lightly toasted to perfection, included cole slaw topping, the grouper was fresh and flaky with the perfect amount of crispy outer shell. Came with a side of fries which were okay. My fiance had the wings ($14 for a lb, great portion for an appetizer) which were good, the onion rings which he enjoyed, and the cheesesteak egg rolls were delicious in the warm queso. About 2 weeks ago, I wrote an unfavorable review due to a salad having a burned taste from burned croutons. Went there today for a family members birthday. Ordered something different and both the food and service were very good.. The manager remembered my review and I was given a gift card to compensate for my previous meal. He allowed me to use the gift card for my meal that day, since I live in Delaware and may not be back in that area again any time soon. We ordered the nachos, a soup, a salad, and a main. After a wait we were told the nachos came out with insufficient cheese and had to be redone. Another wait, and the nachos finally came out . . . with insufficient cheese. The soup and salad came out and I told the server that the nachos still lacked enough cheese. Nothing was done, the nachos were still on the bill, and we left vowing not to return. He was rude and in a hurry (restaurant was not busy) and did not have any patience with my elderly aunt. Well hello Yelpers! Time for my WIFE and I to try a new spot! Out for our 1 week anniversary dinner(also known as Friday night). Quick trip up to Oscars Alehouse in Woodstock. Seated quickly even though pretty busy. My better half ordered an Oscars lemonade off the devils elixir menu. She said it was quite scrumptious and went back for more! Appetizers were Cuban egg rolls and the crab dip. My egg rolls were superb. Very tasty and will order often. Really like the mustard dip. Not too spicy since I've gotten soft in my old age. M'lady thoroughly enjoyed the crab dip. The bread with it is toasted on the grill and had a great flavor! Give both a try. Entrees were a lovely, fresh and tasty Oscar's Cobb Salad with blue cheese vinaigrette. Fresh ingredients and quite tasty chicken. Charbroiled flavor that added to the salad nicely. Wifey chowed down on the roast beef sandwich and onion rings. She was very pleased with both. Bread toasted on the grill also which she said adds a great flavor to the beef. She would have enjoyed just dipping the bread in the au jus but wasn't about to let the roast beef feel left out! Jill our server was great! We have been loyal and frequent patrons of Oscar's since they opened in Woodstock. However, our last 3 times there have been really awful. It has taken a crazy amount of time to get a server to even come over, the orders have been wrong, and drinks have been wrong consistently all 3 times. The first time, Sam the newest manager, came over and apologized and gave us 2 gift certificates. The second time we got an apology from the server. Tonight I had to get up after waiting 15 minutes and ask another server if we actually had a server. A server finally came over, took our order. The mixup with the food was blamed on a "language barrier". Management needs to train the kitchen more efficiently so they understand what was requested. If the food brought out was different than the order, that should have been noticed by whoever is expediting, or by the server. Tonight was Trivia Night there, and there was noise coming from the back, also from the bar, and music hidden in there from the overhead. It was crazy, not relaxing, and we are seriously thinking about not going back. Sorry for the negativity, but it has been 3 strike outs. read more

Everything was very yummy and at a good price! I was skeptical looking at the menu seeing how affordable it was, but everything came out great. I got the pesto steak sandwich ($15) and it was cooked perfectly medium and the meat was very tender and flavorful. Solidly 3 stars. Ordered the fish and chips based on the menu describing them as "huge", came out as no larger than frozen fish sticks and about as warm. Slaw can't have been more than two tablespoons. Onion rings seemed to be over cooked or at least very thin onions. Wife had a salad with chicken, chicken was so tough as to be inedible. As for the beer, they were out of my first choice which seemed strange for a restaurant open a week but whatever. Ordered something else it was fine, ordered 8 oz of another beer and they were out of 8 oz glasses. Not a biggie but they served me a 1/2 full pint glass. Now your typical pint glass is less than a pint on a good day, but the glass being conical and all, the bottom half holds less than 8oz so rather than buying some goodwill and pouring a generous glass they shorted me. First time trying Oscars. The staff was 5 stars amazing. They were extremely attentive to our needs, moved quickly so we didn't have to wait. The ambiance was perfect, not too loud, and we loved that it was well lit as well as spacious. Now lastly for the food, I got a turkey avocado sandwich and it is probably the best turkey sandwich in the area. The fries were also exactly how I like them, not too greasy and moist inside. This place does the basics well. The portion size for the price is also great. You definitely get the bang for your buck which is not easy to find these days. I will be a regular at this restaurant. Also they seemed to have tvs in the bar area and the far side of the restaurant so I will be back with friends for some football games! read more

We had a really nice meal at Oscar's Sunday night. We live in the neighborhood, but had never been there before. We were surprised at the great prices, quality of the food & the many menu choices. We got the buffalo chicken sandwich w\fries and the fried Grouper sandwich w\fries and a piece of chocolate cake to share. Fries were cold when we got home, 10 minutes away but the Grouper sandwich is AMAZING!
