I have to take a few deep breaths before writing this review. We had Alexandria Windows come out to replace a few windows two summers ago. The communication and scheduling was lacking, so we were a little frustrated, but it didn't prepare us for the ordeal we were going to be dealing with. We live in an old house, 1920's. My husband expressed this many times, that appropriate measures would have to be taken as we had lead in our old windows and trim. I heard him over the phone as well as in person and he was assured they would take the steps necessary. The day the windows were to be replaced, my kids and I left the house. Two windows were in our daughters room, the other in our guest bedroom. One window was oriented the wrong way and still installed. The worst part was, after removing the old windows, the workers took leaf blowers out to blow debris out into the yard below and all over the rooms. My husband ran upstairs and yelled at them to stop, that once again, there was lead paint involved. They stopped and cleaned up, but not well enough. My husband wiped everything down afterwards, not trusting it was cleaned properly. A few months later, my daughter received test results showing elevated levels of lead in her blood. It was quick and not a single other person in our family had any detectable levels. I was livid. I'm still livid. I don't care that one of our windows is wrong or that it took forever to arrange communication. I'm livid that lead safe practices weren't followed as promised and my child had to pay for it. You can't put a price on that. Thankfully, she's grown, and the situation is under control now, but if you have an old house, I would absolutely not recommend this company. To the owner, if your business gives homeowners your word that things will be done safely and following safe standards, you need to follow through. Safety should be top priority. We decided on a metal roof and skylight install, a considerable investment, on our house and garage, and are extremely happy with the result. Johnny met us and was enthusiastic and well informed, answered all our questions and gave great advice. It was a major install on an older home with steep roofs and all the attendant problems which can arise in a 110 year old house. These are not panels but deep profile metal shingles that imitate the shape of cedar shake (Boral Pinecrest) and encourage airflow above the roof deck, a huge asset. Stone coated they are a fascinating aesthetic hybrid. Ruben and Hector led the team and not only solved many problems, some unforeseen, but worked late hours and were open to some suggestions as well. An amazing team. (One minor problem. There was quite a bit of debris in our top gutters afterward, a detail that was missed I assume due to the fact that people usually get gutters replaced as well.) Johnny was always easy to contact which was good as there were some delays, mostly due to weather. There's been no heavy rain yet, but the roof is lifetime warranted against leaks in a transferable warranty. A significant undertaking but one which pays off in investment, permanence, structural integrity and visual aesthetics. Amazing. read more

Wish I could rate the product and service separately. If I COULD I would say the product (windows) are a 4 and the service is like a 2 at best. We received quotes from Wallside ($), Home Depot ($$), C&L Ward ($$$$), and Alexandria ($$$). Alexandria was the "middle of the road" option in terms of prices so we decided to go with them after the sales rep sold us on it. Our windows look great but the mess that this company put us through was not worth it. One issue after another with equipment, disrespectful installation team, leaky windows, ignored phone calls, not to mention broken hydrangea bushes. They have great reviews for their service but I'm not sure how. Like I said though...our windows do look great after the issues were resolved. Took a lot of phone calls over the course of weeks though. read more

We had Alexandria come out for an estimate to shorten some windows, and possibly replace others (and add a door!)...ultimately, we decided to restore our 100 year old windows to keep with the age and style of our home, but my experience with the estimate meeting and follow up was so outstanding that I wanted to leave a note about it. I met with so many other companies and Alex was so responsive, courteous, and professional. If we opt to do any vinyl windows, they'll be our first choice! read more

Honestly I wanted to have a good review to post but I didn't even get my quote from Alexandria. They came to my house, gave their demonstration and measured my windows but never got back to me with my quote. After over a week I received a call saying they were working on it and would have the numbers for me soon (though I was told I'd be getting numbers the day after they came out originally). It's now been more than 2 weeks and nothing. I'm not one to beg for business, especially when there's tons of people who can do windows. 2 stars for the friendly salesman who came out. But I can't bother with a company that can't communicate and leaves me hanging. read more
