Having been stuck in Findlay for 2 weekends now, I can tell you, if youre passing through, this is the place for beer and maybe dinner. A respectable, mostly Michigan microbrewery draft selection and over 30 total had an option for everyone. A few good bourbons and 1 good scotch make the end of evening agreeable. If youre hungry, get the half order of smoked chicken tacos, very 'yum'. And the staff is friendly and attractive. Great spot! read more

Go for the beers! Had a tasty blue beer here along with a chicken wrap that was mediocre. We had poutine...wasn't a fan, but the pulled pork on it was good. The fries were exactly as everyone had mentioned - tasty ! Coworkers had burgers, but didnt really hear them rave about it. Allow me to preface this by mentioning I didn't care about their beer selection. While I understand they had a large selection, I only drank the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale... which was wonderful. The reason for the 5 stars comes down to the burger and atmosphere. Easily one of the top five meals of my life thus far. I'm from Chicago and currently live in Dallas, so I have a pretty strong opinion about food with flavor (or lack thereof), and when things are all hype. Alexandria's is interesting because it doesn't feel like it belongs in Findlay. It feels like a bar in Wicker Park (Chicago). Let me explain. Upon entering, we are greeted with large leather chairs, open wood beams, and large glass garage doors to our left. It feels relaxed and masculine. We have a party of 12, and we're seated immediately along the stage wall (yes, there's a small stage which I'll touch on in a moment). We order our drinks and begin our usual chit-chat. The beer list is extensive for Applebee's, but nothing to celebrate with a parade. The food menu is where it takes a turn for the weird. The burgers-the staple food of the menu-are named with a Star Wars theme. Nothing else on the menu or signage carries the theme. It's only the burgers on the menu. So I order the 'Darth Vader' and forget about it. What arrived was more than enough to convince even the most devout jedi to come to the dark side. The 'Darth Vader' is an all beef patty, duck fat french fries, braised beef gravy, aged cheddar, and is served on a buttered bun. Not knowing what duck fat french fries were, I took a couple, skipped the ketchup, and nonchalantly began eating them. They set my tastebuds ablaze with flavor. It was like a piece of me suddenly woke up and stood at the ready. I knew something magical was happening. I cut the burger in half and took the behemoth in my hands, gravy slowly oozing out the back, threatening to trickle down my hand and into no man's land. I took my first bite and let the beef gravy, aged cheddar, and perfectly cooked patty take me on a journey. Each bite was more savory than the last. The beef gravy completed the burger's seasoning and contrasted so nicely with the duck fat fries and bourbon ale, it was easily became one of my top five meals ever. I know, that's a pretty tall order. I feel that the flavors easily made this meal a contender, but the GREAT service, atmosphere, AND the mere fact that I wasn't even remotely expecting it - that's what put it over the top. Also, we had a local acoustic band play for most of our night, and I was even allowed to step up, borrow a guitar, and play a song! Bottom Line: This place is better than I could have ever predicted. When I go back to Findlay to visit friends and family, I will absolutely make sure not to miss a chance to savor a beer and burger at Alexandria's. You shouldn't either. read more

I got the salmonella gorilla sandwich with sweet chili sauce and it was amazing. Talk about a food coma. After that we went upstairs and proceeded with shots and pool. I was in town yesterday for a women's rugby game and saw that Alexandria's got good reviews. It did not disappoint. As others have mentioned, the menu is limited -- the focus here is on burgers. I had the Darth Vader and my boyfriend had the Obi One. Both were delicious-- very high quality meat coupled with innovative, fresh ingredients. The burgers are accompanied by french fries that are cooked in duck fat for a rich, wonderful flavor. I do not drink, so I can't really comment on the beer, except to say that the offerings are extensive. My boyfriend had some kind of IPA, which he enjoyed, but did not rave about. I can definitely see myself making the drive to Findlay just to have one of the burgers -- they were that good. The environment is warm and cozy and the waitstaff friendly and helpful. We went to Alexandria's while visiting family in Findlay. The service was excellent as well as the food and the atmosphere was really cute. They had an awesome and extensive beer list and on the cheaper side from what we're used to. The potsticker and nachos apps were delicious and we all ordered different burgers- all delicious! Our NYE celebration was horrible, no part hats, no besds, no noisemakers....awful. the management would not allow the band, Tongue n Groove to play until 10, rather than the advertised 9:00...it is a shame that a beautiful venue like this consistently has such awful service,particularly since there was a $35 admission. Great spot. Who would have thought it in Findlay, Ohio. The Beer selection rivals any, best thing is that they are frequently turned with new ones arriving weekly so this is not a place who gets a keg of some off the path microbrew and it sits there for months and months. And the food. Had the Pork Belly taco (and beef) but the Pork Belly was fantastic though the tacos a bit pricy. But this isn't Taco Bell/slash typical American Mexican fare. Also had the chips and salsa flight. Fantastic. Off the path a bit, but really cool spot that makes you think you are more in Austin or Portland than Findlay Ohio. read more

I would give 5+ stars for the bar! We got a flight of martinis and a flight of beers. We enjoyed them all, with 2 or 3 beers being outstanding! The atmosphere is amazing and our server was terrific! If you are reading this, go there!! The food however....um...they are trying really hard. And charging alot for 2 tablespoons of questionable toppings on the strangest, thick, corn-mealy things that are supposed to be sopas and tacos. The chips and salsa were good. Well...not going to lie, this place has gone from bad to worse. Not only is the turnover high but now the prices are absolutely ridiculous!! I was all for paying a premium for the specialty taco and tapas (I'm dating myself) but when you charge 18 dollars for a Woodford (regular!!!!) old fashioned there is something seriously wrong!!! I've been to some awesome cocktail joints in the states and abroad and wouldn't bat an eye at an expensive drink that was well crafted and artisanal. A regular Woodford old fashioned with too much fruit is pretty much a well drink and I'm sorry but it isn't worth 18 mother effing deutsche marks!!! Come on guys!! We have been here twice now. First time we ate on the first floor and had a server. Solid food and great service. Second time was last night and we sat at the bar on the second level. Awful service, almost non existent. The one bartender had to of noticed us and never once asked if we wanted to order drinks and then after we finally did get drinks (because another patron had his bartender help us) she never asked about a food order. Finished our drinks and again, sat there and there was no way the bartenders didn't notice. Glasses empty, holding menus yet no one said a word. We made several attempts to flag someone down but they more or less ignored us. I finally loudly asked for my tab to be closed out. We decided to forgo the food altogether. It would take a lot for me to go back. The bar staff on the second level are sub par at best and need some serious training. I have a fair amount of experience in all types of bars and never have I had this sort of experience. Unfortunately for them someone could have had a much higher tip because we would have loved to have had a few drinks and food. read more

I recently met up with some friends here at Alexandria's. This is a phenomenal place. Starting off, their beer selection is absolutely spectacular as they have many beers on tap that I rarely see. Another interesting feature is that the bar opens its doors to the outside on nice evenings. When I say this I mean that it opens up the wall, which is composed of garage doors, to the outside. They do this on nice evenings and people often sit out on tables on the sidewalk. While the last time I did not partake on this, the upstairs has a bowling alley which is pretty cool and inexpensive. The food & servers are also exemplary as well. Check this restaurant out it's definitely worth it! And don't forget about the live music! read more

Was there this summer for happy hour - food is marginal at best and the service was terrible. We had to search for a bartender and waitstaff, ended up just going to the bar to order (even though we were on the patio). When we paid they would not honor their own happy hour prices. When we inquired about the bill we got a blank stare and a shrug of the shoulders. Too bad, we won't be going back and needless to say our tip was zero for the staff. read more

All right, I gave this place about seven second chances. I tried really hard to like this place. The bar itself looks really cool and it has about thirty taps of craft brews. However, last night was my last time EVER going there. First of all, you'll die of thirst there. Every time I stepped up to the bar, the bartender is talking to a friend at the end of the bar for several minutes or they will look passed you and serve the person behind you instead. I thought I was crazy for thinking that, but it was done to me and to other people in the bar. Maybe they were serving their friends first? Who knows. Second, they have slowly altered their beer menu since they've been opened by adding, but mostly eliminating canned and bottled beer. A few months ago I took a friend there, not much of a craft brew drinker, and I ordered him a Coors (his beer of choice). The male bartender laughed and shook his head and said "we don't serve that here". A simple "oh I'm sorry we do not have Coors", would have sufficed. Instead of a pretentious server scoffing at us poor peasants. Also, last night (my last attempt to like this place) threw me for a loop. I walked up to the bar and wasn't in much of a craft brew mood. I decided to order a a cheap canned beer. "We don't have canned beer anymore" I was told. So I tried to order a Budweiser, "We don't have bottled beer, only 40 ounces" she said. Here's the thing, EVERY time I went to this place, my first order is never fulfilled. They never have what I first order. Then about ten minutes later a college girl walked up to the bar, to the same server, and ordered a PBR. The server immediately went to the fridge and grabbed a CANNED PBR. I was told this establishment no longer served canned beer? Not only that, they had other brands of canned beer too. You may be thinking this is a new employee, but she has been there for a while. On to my experience at lunch. The first time I went there for lunch, my girlfriend and I were the only table there and it took us about ten minutes for the server to at least take our drink order. Busy I guess? Those few glasses behind the bar sure were dirty! Anyways, the food was decent and we paid with a card. We were charged with things we didn't even order. A bill that should've been about $25 dollars, ended up being over $37. We politely pointed it out, the server grabbed the manager and told us the matter was handled. However, it wasn't. The transaction was never voided/altered. So if you like pretentious bartenders/clientele, zen-like patience, over priced drinks and poor service, this place is for you. However, if you actually want to enjoy your night on the town, avoid this place. Check out Logans or The West End Tavern instead. Better service and prices by far. read more

My favorite place to grab dinner in Findlay so far! A super cozy gastropub with a modern, upscale feel:-) My favorite thing on the menu is "The Squeeze", a black bean quinoa burger with delicious red pepper hummus! The truffle fries are to die for Service can sometimes be a little spotty so don't be afraid to be assertive, it is a pub after all. There are always events going on so the restaurant seems vibrant! They are open late for a last minute dinner:-) they hardest part about going is finding parking but you normally won't have to walk more than a block. Overall a really good choice for dinner! Every refillable ketchup bottle we could find nearby was empty, so boo to that. I hate empty ketchup bottles, especially the ones you can't see through! Had an Obi Wan burger and it was very good. The chorizo gives it a good kick along with the chili-cinnamon rubbed pork belly that just takes it to another level. Then add a subtle cilantro bite. Yummy! Nice selection of beer although they were out of a couple I wanted. All ages represented so it isn't a complete hipster hangout. Really loving the 90s music too. STP, Blind Melon, Counting Crows, Pearl Jam...all right up my alley. Great staff that's attentive. I'd come back for sure. The place is absolutely awesome to see! There were four of us and it was all of our first time... Three of us ordered the same exact dinner except I had onion rings instead of french fries with my burger. The only problem was I ordered my burger with a hard fried egg (I was very specific about this when ordering) and it came to me with a completely runny yellow dippy egg! Very politely and nicely I asked that the egg be taken back and cooked to "hard fried with no runny yolk". The waitress was wonderful and took it right back and she apologized immediately for it being undercooked. I just knew it would be perfect however a man brought it back a few minutes later and it was still runny yolk and at this point I simply took the egg off the burger/cheese/hash brown "pile" and ate. To me an undercooked egg is both disgusting and unacceptable. Ordering it specifically and it coming out undercooked is one thing but it coming back out not really any different is poor customer service. read more

Just looking at my $35 VIP ticket for tonight's New Years party and was wondering what VIP meant and why I paid so much. Band was told not to play until 10 and after we complained to a useless mamager.....no table service...no decorations. Is this a New Year's celebration? quite honestly reading through these comments I'm more surprised there were ANY positive reviews. The bar itself is small, my friend and I ended up sitting in the larger room in the back, which is GORGEOUS. Would be great for a wedding reception. BUT the gorgeous crystal chandelier sways due to the fact the bowling alley is above it. While your sitting there in a quiet room and you hear the bowling alley above. That's not that big of a deal But the chandelier swaying b/c of it is a bit disconcerting. I ordered the fish tacos and while they were quite tasty, the waitress could have told me that they were smaller than a silver dollar pancake. With a fish stick and beet slaw laid on top. I ordered this for my meal. And there were 2. My 2 year old niece would eat more than that. So then I ordered empanadas afterward. My friend and I were laughing so hard b/c of the absurdity of the "meal" She ordered the chicken tenders and fries and got a normal amount of those. I'm sure the waiter wondered what they heck I was doing ordering an appetizer AFTER I ordered my "meal". This experience did give us a lot of laughs and something to talk about. And knowing I won't ever go there again! I'll stick to Logan's Irish Pub around the corner. We had to stop at Kroger after we left so could get more to eat! Edited to changed - SHOCK to SURPRISED - I still stand by my opinion that this place is more hype than anything - I'm glad people have good/great experiences here. I didn't. That's my opinion. Most people that I talked to that went to this particular owner's establishments said they had to stop at Taco Bell after leaving b/c they didn't get enough to eat. Service was slow, but they were busy and understaffed. The menu (only sandwiches and salads) did not have many options and did not particularly lend itself to match the classy and regal Atmosphere of the bar, however the food tasted great. The cocktails were wonderful and selection of beers were also terrific, but overall the prices were outrageous for what they were offering at 12 dollars a sandwich and 11 dollars for 1 cocktail made with non premium liquor. read more
