    Chicken Gyros. Messy, but flavourful!
    Tom T.

Alexandros is the OG of traditional Greek gyros shops in Toronto. Gyros in greek means "to turn". When they opened in 1997, they were the first restaurant in Toronto not to use the pre-made gyros cones. They make theirs using whole pieces chicken, pork or a beef / lamb mix. The pieces are marinated and skewed in a large stack on the rotisserie before being slow cooked using an upright rotisserie. You can order the gyros in a pita or as a dinner with rice and Greek salad on the side souvlaki or Greek poutine. On this visit we sat on the patio located in Alexander The Great Parkette. We the chicken gyros on a pita. While very messy, every bite of chicken was deliciously full of flavour. The Tzaziki was garlicky, which is traditional and the way I like it. Overall, if you're looking for a quality meal, served fast and cheap, you can't go wrong here.

So full that I can't even close it! Or just small pita

Nice small place with 4 tables and a couple tables outside during the warmer days. Only two people working so it might take some time before they get to your order especially if a bunch of people come at the same time. Menu is fairly straightforward: burgers, salad, gyro, and fries. They have a couple combos that consist of some combination of the above. Also, baklava available for dessert. Of interest is a dinner item called "Gyro in a box (just meat)" which I assume is literally just a box of meat. Ordered a chicken gyro and a pork gyro. When the gyro arrived, my instinct to unwrap it to take a picture resulted in the gyro opening up flat and all the meat stuffed inside going everywhere. There's definitely a lot of meat judging from the picture...but it's also because the pita itself is pretty small (like 6-inches maybe?) The chicken was tender and flavorful. Wasn't much of anything else; just expect a pita full of meat and you'll be happy. Compared to the pork, I preferred the chicken more because I found the pork lacking in flavor. It's a good amount of meat, but I wish they had proportional amounts of filling on the sides like maybe more vegetables and a larger pita. At some point I had thought the ratio of meat to everything else was way too skewed towards the meat, which is generally not a bad thing because usually there's almost always not enough meat...eh, I guess it's difficult to find a perfect balance. They accept credit.

I came here on the Friday night of TOTD at about 12:30 am after the crowds had died. For only the first night of TOTD the staff seemed bagged already. But after reading some of the other reviews I see that the level of customer service here was on par even though it was TOTD. Despite the crap service the gyros here are solid. The price was good and the wrap filled me up enough to absorb the alcohol I consumed following the gyro.

I chose this place mainly because they had a small sunny patio in a plaza right next to a water fountain and stage area, a nice European feel! Unfortunately, after eating there, I can't find much else to recommend about the place. Maybe stick to the take out gyros, which is clearly their specialty. I went in and ordered a greek salad ($5.31) and a chicken souvlaki ($3.00). I was told it would be a 10 minute wait. No problem there, I was eager to sit outside on the patio in the sun. 10 mins later the server/counter boy yells "HEY LADY! YOUR FOOD IS READY!" Really, counter boy? You can't BRING it out to me on the patio? Lazy f*ck! There was no one else in the shop or no orders to go out, yet you can't walk 10 feet to bring it to me? *grumble* The food itself was disappointing. Never in my life have I been served food on a piece of WAX PAPER! Wtf? I was handed a plastic cafeteria tray, topped with a sheet of wax paper, with my food (salad and souvlaki) stacked directly onto the wax paper. No plate....not even a Styrofoam container. The salad was a decent size but the souvlaki was tiny, maybe 3 oz of meat. Big rip off.

Okay, here it goes.. Location is a sweet spot. Nice simple patio over looking at a fountain. Really nice spot on danforth, the water fountain i mean. So its cash only. 29.99 taxes in for the dinner for two which includes the following : ~2 large pops ~1 large salad ~ 1 large greek fries ~2 gyros Salad, was super simple, too much oil for my taste. Picture uploaded. Fries, were very fresh and very tasty, go there for the fries. Birds liked it too. Chicken gyros... loss of stars here. Kinda small compared to alot of other places, chicken was super oily and almost fried amd hard on edges. Few pieces of tomato, onion, taziki sauce, more like yogurt, seasoning was okay, So would i come back here for gyros? No. Fries ? Yes.

This is hands down the original and best gyro place on the Danforth and Toronto. It has been here forever and I hope it will always be.

Not my favorite Greek gyro place on Danforth but decent enough. Also, you can't beat the fact that they stay open till 4am on weekdays.

Patio is covered and heated and on Friday & Saturday nights will only offer bottle service and dance parties with a live DJ. We made a reservation for Friday evening on the patio. Unfortunately, the servers seated all couples cramped in one corner, even though there were many tables available; that made everyone uncomfortable. We ordered Red Wine, "Trio Dip" and "Spaducci Skewers". The food was delicious, but we could've enjoyed our night even more if the sitting arrangements were better.

The service was good, she was sweet the ambiance was nice but overall, the food review for most guest present was below average. Several chicken skewers brought to the table were uncooked (pink) and had to sent back for further cooking.

Me and some family members were in the area, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted and seated promptly and then, for the longest time ... nothing. As it turned out, we'd spend a lot longer at this restaurant than we had anticipated. After about 20 minutes, a kind and apparently exhausted waitress appeared, so we ordered drinks and saganaki to start. 10 minutes later, our drinks appeared, and we ordered our main courses then. Although the menu gave prices for wine by the glass, half litre or bottle, we were told that they don't have enough wine to offer any more than a glass at a time. Strange, and unexpected. Eventually, the saganaki (Greek flaming cheese) arrived, and it was really, really good - a generous triangle of grilled, flaming cheese, easily split between the three of us. It was served with some odd bread, which resembled buttered and toasted hot dog or burger buns. This helped take the edge off our hunger as we waited for our main course. And waited. Looking at the time, I noticed that we had already spent over 60 minutes in the restaurant, which was extremely chilly on a cold winter's evening. Many customers, including us, wore their coats throughout the evening. Apparently, the restaurant dining area is heated only by two electric fire places. Our waitress came out and let us know that we had to wait because my daughter's order of octopus was taking a while. At this point, we had already committed to being here, so we had no choice but to see it through. Finally, the food came out. My daughter's octopus was, sadly, overcooked and tough, but still tasty, and the lemon roasted potatoes were excellent. My husband's roasted lamb did not seem like it was prepared as a roast, as there was no browning or roast] flavor, but seemed to have been prepared in a pressure cooker or slow cooker. I had ordered the Moussaka, and had high expectations, based on my memory of Milo's creamy, eggplant-filled, nicely seasoned Moussaka of my distant, long-ago previous visit. However, my portion of Moussaka had the oddest texture: rather mushy and grainy. The well-seasoned, savory tasting ground beef of my memories had now been transformed into a rather average-tasting ground beef mixture that would have been equally at home in a sloppy joe. And I could not find an eggplant in the casserole at all ... well, maybe it had somehow been reduced to such mushiness that it lost it's eggplant quality, but I could swear that it was missing. It was all edible food, though, but not up to our expectations. I hate to give any place a lowly, two-star review. I had hoped for much more, because there is so much about Milo's to raise one's hopes: it's not a big chain, but locally, family-run; it has an appealing and timeless Mediterranean decor; and the menu offers many interesting Greek choices. A few small changes would be an upgrade: better bread, some additional staff and a few space heaters would be a good start. Milo's is the type of restaurant that I would love to support, but I've read enough reviews with similar observations that I am unlikely to return.

While in line, someone suggested the souvlaki and I was already aiming to get a gyro so I knew we were gonna be good. Parking was busy but not impossible to find here. It's fast casual. You can get food, some extra desserts and drinks/coffee and extra pita/flatbread or tzatziki sauce. I got a gyro and a "small" poutine. Let me just say that I've had a LOT of gyros and this one was by far the best. Tons of meat, toppings, just enough tzatziki that I didn't want to order an extra side (still should've). The poutine was enough to feed a family of four. Holy smokes this was spectacular. I'd have gotten extra gravy bc it's so much tastier here in Canada than anyplace in the USA. Family owned, this is a great place to come alone or with friends. You can eat something different every single time and it's just so delicious. I will be back. My goal is to try more stuff every time I'm here but the gyro was perfection so who knows? Support small owned businesses!

This was one of the only places a guy that I was seeing when I was in my early twenties and I would go, late at night, when we knew we wouldn't catch anyone else we knew out. The food was predictable, always - and not in a bad way - it just hit the spot after a night of drinking, or when you are hungover. The salad will forever have too much dressing and will be the unhealthiest thing but the souvlaki here was honestly the most shocking thing. Mind you I have not been in six and a half or seven years so don't take my word for it, but for a place to be around this long and still have loyal customers - they're really doing something right, it's not just sheer luck so give it a go! There is zero ambiance or date night feel here, okay. Don't take your girl unless you've been married over ten years. It's boys or girls night out material only. haha
