Based on the great reviews, my husband and I drove from Vernon, where we live, over to Alexia's for a late night dinner. We didn't get to the restaurant until 8:45pm, because I had worked a 13 hour day. Whoops, I forgot to look here on Yelp to see what time Alexia's closes! So, we walked in, only to find out that the restaurant closes at 9:00pm. The owners could have told us that they were about to close & sent us on our way. However, they were so nice, and told us that although it was too late to sit down and have dinner there, that we could still place an order for takeout. We wound up ordering a medium pizza...my half had mushrooms, onions, and really great tasting sausage. My husband's side of the pizza had pepperoni & black olives. What terrific pizza! We don't like the wood fire baked pizza, you know, the charred pizza crust kind that seems to be the trend here in CT. Alexia's pizza crust was perfectly cooked, just the right consistency. They are very generous with the amount of toppings put on the pizza, and it had the perfect balance of sauce and cheese. And the owners were so nice. We'll definitely go back soon for a much earlier dinner, so that we can eat at the restaurant. If the great pizza is any indication of what the dinners are like, I can't wait to go back and try the chicken parm or eggplant parm. read more

Found this place via Yelp, reviews looked very good so we decided to come in and try it out. We ordered some mozzarella sticks, little greasy, but weren't bad. The pizza was your standard Greek style, but it was nothing to write home about. Very average, bread was kinda bland and the sauce was too sweet, and it was very cheesy. No issues with the staff, just the quality of the food. There is definitely better pizza to be had else where in CT. read more

I ordered a steak and cheese grinder and when I got Home I unwrapped my sandwich and I couldn't believe how much grease was on it! it was the most greasiest sandwich I've ever eaten in my entire life. The taste wasn't so bad but it was like I was drinking pure oil. I mean I'm not saying don't go there but if you like greasy stuff then go for it. not my problem if you end up being fat. read more

I ordered a small meat lovers pizza that was great, others had eggplant parm and a stuffed chicken rolletini type thing. We were all overwhelmingly happy with our meals. This is by far the best Greek style pizza in the world. My family eats here a couple of times a month. It is a local favorite. The crust is slightly sweet, thin but not too thin, and has a perfect crunch to it. The sauce is amazing and they load it with toppings. Their white garlic sauce is second to none (we love the white garlic with ham and broccoli). This place is truly family run where the same brother/sister/father team craft the perfect pizza every night. When they need time off, they close. Alexia's has spoiled all of our pizza restaurant experiences because no matter how good someone else's pizza is, my wife and I always say, "It's just not Alexia's!" We went there with friends who love the pizza. I had a slice from their order, very good, but I ordered a hot turkey sub and a cup of beef barley soup (homemade) which was excellent. We went for lunch, but the dinner menu was quite extensive. I probably wouldn't go out out of my way to eat there (as I am seldom near the location), but if you live in the area you won't be disappointed. Three or four years ago I saw a review in the Reminder for Alexia. We went that night and tried their special pizza for the first time. It was great. It is loaded with all toppings meat, veggies and cheese. The crust stays crunchy and nothing gets soggy. We have turned all of our neighbors at Crystal Lake on to this special find and we have made it a neighborhood event each summer, at least once each year since our first time. So I'm new to South Windsor and have been bouncing around looking for good pizza - generally not being into the CT Pepe's style charred thin crust. Found Alexia's online and with some extra searching found a menu online - ordered an 18" ham & pineapple pizza and a 12" meatball grinder. When picking up my order I was shocked to find out that my order cost OVER $35. Apparently the online menu was old (so I posted a new one here on yelp) and the owners weren't very concerned about it. My pizza was also considered "gourmet" - tacking an extra $4.75 onto the cost just to substitute pineapple which isn't a regular topping nor a fact that I was aware of. Needless to say, I was very unhappy. But, the pizza and grinder were pretty darn good, A Minus in my book. I personally like Tomato Joe's better so I won't be rushing back for more but I'd definitely spring for a "regular" two topping pizza at $19 in the future. read more

The restaurant served pizza to 60 people at a function at the South Windsor Senior Center. All the assorted pizza's were so over cooked it was a travesty to even call them pizza! Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Alexia: the Greek Goddess of pizza. Of all the the great minds that Greece has given the world throughout history, Alexia reigns supreme in the eyes of the Big Dawg. With what the very polite and friendly staff can do with dough, sauce, and cheese could satisfy the likes of Zeus himself. The crust, soft, yet holds its integrity to pile it high with whatever toppings your heart may desire. In this case, the toppings were hamburg and 'ron. The pepperonis are crisp and gently curled on the edges, which for all of you rookie, uncultured yelpers out there, are the only true indicators of pepperoni perfection. The hamburg crumble acted as both a topping AND a seasoning which is something even the Big Dawg has never seen before. The best way I can describe it is to compare it to the only part of a coffee cake that matters, the top. Another Big Dawg indicator of pizza quality was the caramel gold cheese ring where the line between the crust and toppings is blurred with a golden halo of cheesy crispiness. The pleasure of eating at Alexia's is an out of body experience for me. The level of ecstasy I obtain from her pizza always leaves me satisfied, winded and sweaty. This is perhaps the friendliest restaurant I've ever been to. I love the hot tuna grinders, which I can't get for love or friendship in New York. I always order two larges, one to devour immediately, and one to take home. That second grinder never lasts the next day! The pizza is good, too! read more

Great for takeout food. Not great for dining in. Takes way too long to get food, and there is no bar so not much in the drink selection, and not all the waitresses are old enough to serve from the box of Franzia they do offer.
