Question....if you have something listed as a pizza topping and someone asks to have that topping put on a grinder, how can you say "we can't do that" ? No reason as to why. We got a large pizza from CJ's the day after Thanksgiving & it was a great pizza! Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting a sausage, hamburger & onion pizza to be this good, but it was! It was hot! It was fast! It had all the toppings I wanted & nothing else! I hate when you "accidentally " get mushrooms ( gag)! ! I truly haven't been here since the early 2000's so I was impressed. I don't care for pepperoni. I decided to exchange it for a capicola. The bread was fresh. I was greeted by the owner when I walked into CJ's. I love family-owned establishments. You'll get no broken promises from CJ's Pizza and Giant Grinders, because their grinders sure do deliver on your expectations. They have 25 different grinders that truly are GIANT and sold in half ($9ish) or whole ($17-$19ish) sizes. Grinders are served with Lettuce, Tomatoes and Cheese, with Peppers and Onions by request. I stopped by for two "half sized" grinders yesterday, a Giant Ham and Provolone with lettuce, tomato, and onions, and an equally Giant Italian Combo with lettuce, tomato, onions, peppers, and jalapenos. The portions were huge. The half grinders are quite big and are piled very high with the goods, so a half of the half will be enough for a great meal. Our two sandwiches ran around $23 after the extras and tax, but we are getting 4 meals out of that $23. They also sell pizzas and some very nice salad varieties and pasta dinners with sausage and meatballs. I've gotten three grinders three separate times from CJ's on broad Street in Manchester Connecticut all three times their meatball grinders and they were just let's just say great the bread that it came on was fresh there was enough ingredients as far as meatball sauce and cheese on the grinder and they made it to exactly to perfection in the way that I wanted it to be made I highly recommend them if anybody needs a good grinder for lunch skip subways and go to CJ's on broad Street in Manchester read more

Anything you order from CJs will be super great and fresh! The owners are always working inside so the food is always consistent. The grinders are piled high with meat, and the bread is super fresh. Pizza is super yummy, but has a little bit too much sauce in my opinion. Parking here is a bit of a pain. read more

The best! 30 years ago, our first baby sitter ( a Manchester local), shared some insider information with us - if you want the best grinders, go to CJ's. She was right. Meeting friends (during Covid) for a picnic lunch is always an excuse to get a grinder from there . So is going to the fireworks at MCC and bringing dinner, inviting my oldest daughter over for a meal, and when there isn't anything in the house to make for dinner. Really like this small hole in the wall restaurant that's a family operation and i like to support these! The decor is clean and very welcoming. Things like chair cushions and carpet are a little worn in some cases yet everything is extra clean and serviceable, except where I left crumbs on the carpet after eating the grinder. Ordered a half toasted cold cut combo grinder with a Hosmer mountain soda, really great, everything! Ingredient quality is top notch, came with a bunch of meat, not as much as Franklin's had last time was there, yet this was substantial and worth it toz z z me. The only minor complaint is that when they toasted it, the bread was roasted by doesn't seems like they roasted with ingredients on it. This is fine just prefer cheese to be melted and the like. A little something extra is, while I was waiting to order, three separate people asked me if was ready, when said a minute please they went off to do something else. Been coming to this place for years. For some reason or other I have not gotten around to reviewing it, or...GETTING A PIZZA! Maybe its the GIANT grinder title, so Ive always just gotten grinders here. Grinders are indeed GIANT. In a Franklin giant grinder or a Wethersfield pizza kind of way. Big and full of stuff! If your hungry, this is where you get a grinder. Recently WFSB decided to run a statewide pizza playoff, and CJ's started running away with it. Suddenly I realize, why have I never got a pizza from this place????? So I was on a mission, and it paid off nicely. Old school Greek style, baked in a pan. The kind of stuff we grew up with in central CT before the advent of the New Haven style, with its thin, chewy, burnt round the edges format. I do the thin stuff once in a while, but If I have my drothers, I'd rather do the thicker. Good crust with just enough crispy chew, a tasty sauce, throw some pepperoni on that and I'm good to go. The crew was friendly, reasonably fast even with a busy takeout crowd. They were tossing things together with machine like efficiency, and really seemed happy to be hooking folks up with some tasty chow. I love CJ's. I have been going since I was a teen. The pizza is so good. The grinders, I find I crave them sometimes. All eggplant parm grinders pale in comparison to CJ's. Parking is tricky- only a handful of spots. Getting in the driveway. Also tricky. CJ's is reasonably priced. My food is always ready when they say. A large grinder is 2 meals. A large pizza will feed 3 normal adults. Or me and 1 other person. :-) Worth it every time. The food, the staff. I'm always greeted like a member of the family. I hope you give CJ's a try- they need to stay around. I could not bare not being able to get that delicious eggplant parm grinder. Or their pizza. read more

House special pizza and small, good to go. The pizza took a minute for dine in, which is the only draw back at 30 min pizza time. The phone was ringing off the hook at 4pm and that should tell you enough. I will say the style of pizza is executed perfectly (Thicker crusts and can be handheld). Toppings not soggy, but not well done, just in the middle. Very much friendly experience. I'd have to agree one of the top spots for pizza in the state after having Mystic and others in New Haven. Stopped in for first time today after hearing a ton of good things. Service was great. Friendly and quick and a slight personal touch. Ordered the husband an Italian combo and got myself a chicken parm. I dropped to him at work and he texted and said "this is good, where'd you go" so I knew I had a winning sandwich on my passenger seat just waiting for me! Chicken was crispy and fkavoral. You could taste the funk from the cheese. Bread was on point and toasted perfectly. This is a nice, family run business where everyone is super friendly to their customers. My sister and I ate in and ordered a large chicken parm grinder and a medium sausage pizza. The grinder was toasted perfectly and the chicken patties were moist and not too thick. The pizza is greek style and not on the greasy side. Crust has good flavor.
