Medium half pepperoni pizza. Served Connecti - CUT
    John A.

We were out of state and took this recommendation from yelp. Pizza was very good. We had half pepperoni which had tons of pepperoni on it. The service was excellent. The owner had a big smile and was a positive guy. You could tell they do a lot of take out. Very clean. Could have used a little music but then you might have not appreciated the chefs passion. I had this at a 4.4.

Really only gave this place a try because Romanos Pizza was closed. I wanted to pick something up on my way home from work, but I did not want to go out of my way at all, or have to get off the highway once I got on - so I reluctantly gave Pete's a try - and was NOT disappointed. I called around 5-515 on a week day and I was told it would only be a 15 minute wait, which was great to hear. I walked in the restaurant 15 minutes later and I knew my food was going to be delicious just by the smell. I ordered a small pepperoni pizza, which came out to around $11, pretty decent pricing. From what I could tell, the staff seemed very friendly. Upon getting home I tried my pizza and it was honestly one of the best pizzas I've ever had. The crust, the sauce, and the cheese were all so flavorful. The perfect amount of cheese vs sauce was on the pizza, and it was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be returning. My only complaint is the variety of the menu. I wish they had a little more. However, their menu does note that they roast their own roast beef in-house, which I am very excited to try!

I'm absolutely in love with Pete's. We wanted to try a new pizza place tonight and since this place is right next to our house basically now, I felt we definitely needed to get some pizza from here for Sunday night Netflix and chill night. They have social distancing markers labeled clearly through the shop, and everyone working there are incredibly nice, and even asked if I needed help carrying out my pizzas. My Hawaiian pizza was absolutely delish, the pineapple was absolute perfection. Definitely will be trying more items off their menu in the weeks to come.

Anyone giving less than 4 stars, may want to consider playing in traffic. We said what we said. Pete is from the lineage of the OG's of Wilson Pizza in Windsor, CT Don't let the suburbs fool you. PPP continues to be consistent, fresh-the staff are cheerful and never forget a face. It feels like home when we come here. Today we got a half Special/ half cheese and it was just like we remembered. This is a Bestifer's Best if ya ask us-and if you're reading this-you're asking. Crust was perfection-not soggy in the middle which tends to happen with pizza loaded with veggies. And the sauce was every tomato obsessed girls' dream. #bigfacts So next time you're in Rocky Hill, make sure you make the stop into Pete's. You'll be thanking them and us later!

We ordered the triple appetizer, and the kitchen gave us chicken tenders instead of the arancini that we ordered, so they gave it to us on the house. The servers were attentive and kind, and quick to fix our order. - Arancini, (4.25/5): I've never cared for Arancini but this changed my mind- the ball was perfectly cwisp and fried, with a not toooo mushy cheesy center - Calamari, (4.5/5): so good! I love lemon on mine, and it came with this addictive sour spicy mayo dip- top notch sauce - Meatballs, (4/5): tasted pretty standard- not too dry and very beefy with acidic tomato to cut through the meat - Chicken tenders, (4.5/5): surprisingly very good - very juicy with crackly batter and had a great dipping sauce - Small Calabrese Apizza, (5/5): wow! this pizza is sooo light and airy. I am not a big crust person, but I ate the whole slice. the dough is so chewy, the pizza itself was flavorful and light. the waiter recommended us to get a small since we got appetizers... but tbh the 2 of us could've tackled a bigger pie as certified big backs Very happy to have tried Sally's!

Ambience doesnt count, its still a takeout place. But the rest of that review stated that other than an 'oops' on the pizza toppings, everything else was...ok. This time? Total flop. Tried some different stuff this time. The philly cheesesteak grinder was the most edible, but dry, with stuff on one half, but only partially on the other half. The roll was the best part, something I mentioned in my previous review. The cheese ravioli? Guess we would call that a 'wtf'. The frozen ravioli I make myself ,with a jar of Francesco Rinalde in a pinch, embarrasses this. Isn't there supposed to be cheese in cheese ravioli? These things were strangely missing the ricotta. Also grabbed a dry eggplant florentine with a nice bland sauce. I don't recall the sauce here being... underwhelming, but this time... yah...underwhelming works. The Italian grandma with the big wooden spoon has left the building. Prices are still low in comparison to say, Vito's down the road, but keeping your prices down by buying cheap ingredients isn't the way to do it. Perhaps the owners should take any money they are saving on ravioli's and buy a salt and pepper shaker to start, might help. Am I presuming the almost five stars is based on the Yelp reviews of yore? I gave em a four last time!! Try again folks.

I was in Connecticut for a wedding a few weeks ago and ended up in old Wethersfield around dinner time, so obviously we had to return to my wife's old pizza place to order up a pizza. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived so we decided to just order a large pizza to go, half pepperoni and half sausage and meatball. The pizza took maybe twenty minutes or so to make and when it was done, well, it looked absolutely spectacular. My half of the pizza was the sausage and meatball and it was like a whirlwind of nostalgia punching me in the mouth with each and every bite. The crust was perfect, the sauce was perfect, the toppings were perfect, and the overall pizza was everything I've been craving for over a year since my last visit to the nutmeg state. Overall, Village Pizzeria & Family Restaurant is everything you expect from a central Connecticut pizza joint. The restaurant looks cozy and nice inside, the staff was super busy but still friendly, and the food was top notch. This place is definitely an old Wethersfield gem.

The crust is tough and crunchy with delicious charred flavor from the high heat firing. We tried their tomato pie with mozzarella which I quite liked. It was on the blander side but with the oregano and garlic, was quite palatable. We also got their famous clam pie but we were not terribly impressed. To me it almost tastes like a clam pasta on a pizza. It's basically just what the name implies. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again but the tomato pie was great. Our service was stellar. The people checked on us frequently and got us all the drinks we wanted. They helped us pack the pizza in foils so we could out the leftovers in our hotel fridge. A word of warning! The pizza is huge!

Not…read moreclams, not cheese, not crust--just the allium family's most fart-prone, overhyped stepchild. I may or may not be contemplating a couple of Tums. I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.
