Our only complaint is we ordered an appetizer (special artichoke & spinach dip) and 2 entrees avd the appy took a while to come out and 2 minutes later our meals came out. HATE this! The appy was very good and we were enjoying it. We like our food hot and now we have to decide what we let sit and get cold the half eaten appy or the pizza and chicken sandwich that just came!! Appy was very good ! The chips were super salty but thick and good. I had a small pizza with roasted peppers and mushrooms and she had a buttermilk chicken sandwich. Pizza was excellent ! Fresh veggies and perfect thin crispy crust. Chicken sandwich was thick, tasty avd good but too plain. Could barely taste the tiny amount of sauce. Tonight we just wanted to get takeout and stay home. Usually we eat at the restaurant and order more than pizza but sometimes you have to make difficult choices on how food travels versus eaten right when it comes out. Therefore, I had to forgo my chicken wings, eggplant fries and cinnamon sugar fried dough. I highly recommend it! Service was great at pickup and sitting at the bar waiting for the pies was a treat with a couple of drinks. The restaurant is casual, modern decor and clean. I'm not a huge pizza fan like most people but I do love their pizzas, especially the Detroit style! Their food is super tasty. Just something to ponder....your advertisement sign on the road says "pretty good pizza" to me that says it's not that great, just ok, not bad but can probably find better. Pretty good pizza, but a little expensive for what you get. Being a fan of camille's pizza, I was glad to read that they had a sister location in Oakland Pizza. So the girlfriend and I decided to give this place a visit and see how they fare. The inside is very modern and chic. everything is well designed and pretty, lots of fake grass on many of the surfaces. The booth area has some clever uses of the mirrors to make the space feel significantly bigger. The server was friendly and helpful, answered all my questions without hesitation. There was a misstep with their signage up front. They have a sign stating a slider with fries for $9, but that was only a weekday special and the signage up front didn't specify this. Decided to get the sliders anyways, along with their hot honey chicken and the Instagram pizza. The Pizza had good flavor, was a little sparse on toppings with the exception of the arugula. cooked well, crispy crust, and decent flavors. The sides were not as good. The meatball sliders were one-note. Soft, easy to eat, but mostly just tasted of sauce. The meat itself was pretty much just ground beef and breadcrumb. The biggest gripe is the portion size. for 9 bucks, you get exactly one meatball split in two between two buns. If the meatballs were larger than 2 ounces, then this might be a good deal. As is, it's a little pricy for what you get The Nashville hot honey chicken was unique. The first batch had a great flavor, and the chicken was crispy, but the actual chicken was cold. It kind of felt like they took pre-cooked frozen chicken pieces, dredged it, fried it quickly, then tossed it in sauce. We informed the server of this, and they swapped out the chicken for us. The replacement was warm, but they used smaller pieces which were a bit more sinewy and tough. They also went a little heavier on the hot sauce with the next batch, which was fine. Overall, the food we got was done well enough, but it felt like they went cheap on their ingredients. The pizza is fine, but the rest just feels like they are trying to maximize profits as much as possible. For me, it's a good meal at an expensive price. read more

My favorite pizza! The crust is perfect, the toppings are quality. I love that they have the option of small or large. The staff are friendly and attentive. The seating is great. I live just up the street. They said 20 minutes. Perfect! I left my house after 10 minutes and got to the restaurant, my pizza was not ready which I knew it would not be. I also ordered soup , well it was on the counter when I got there. I ordered a bowel and I got a cup and they charged me for a bowel. I said I would get a drink, well the bar person ignored me like I had the plague. So I went home and came back at 7:25. I love their pizza and I never had a bad experience til tonight. What's this 4.5 Star Oakland Pizza with 92 Reviews? Just like that, I was driving to Oakland Pizza, which is in South Windsor near the Buckland Hill area. Oakland was takeout only when I visited. The restaurant looked nice though. I had a white, thin crust pizza with garlic, mozzarella, chicken, well done pancetta, and acidic dressed arugula. And get this! It was called the -- "Instagram". I know a sign when I see one. It was phenomenal! Crispy and good chewy crust. Good salty. Acidic. Garlicky. And the arugula let's me call it health food. Another 5 star pizza review. It's tough to compare one pizza against the next. Every place specializes in a certain style, and there are seem to be endless styles of pizza and topping choices everywhere! One of my favorite pizza places is Camille's. It's close to my office and a favorite of many of my coworkers. But Oakland pizza is closer to home and owned by the same family, so I definitely wanted to give it a shot. Well, they hit the sweet spot: amazing pizza, salad choices with homemade dressing and craft cocktails! We loved the pepperoni. Happy hour is all day on Sunday! The Paloma is a must. Oh and they have amazing appetizer choices and gluten free crust! After our visit, I will have to say everything was delicious and service was top notch. There were a couple of glitches in our order which we didn't complain about but the manager came over and removed a few things off the bill to compensate. Needless to say, we will be back for more! Oakland Pizza. Ever heard of it?! Of course you have! Everyone in 50 miles of this place has heard of it or has eaten here. Met my brother for dinner last night. I would not review this place on its decor because it's basic. I'm a minimalist, so that's perfectly okay with me. I'm here for the food! We each ordered a salad. Brother got the Toscano I want to say-had warm croutons on top. So unique and tasty! I got their house side salad. Lots of arugula and cucumbers- which I like! I ordered the peach twisted tea cocktail. My brother followed suit. It was fresh peaches from Ellington (keep it local), bourbon, unsweetened tea and a hint of lemon. It was served in a really funny glass! We were both VERY pleased! Lastly, the pizza! He got the spicy roni and I got the margherita. They were both very New Haven style- thin and crispy, but full of flavor! What sweet, fresh tomatoes on them and the pepperoni was crispy with the edges all curled up! Go see for yourself! read more

I'd give one star based solely on the pizza, and it simply isn't my style. It was super thin and very little sauce. Bland. You can get so much more at Sal's or Pepe's nearby. I am shocked because the reviews are so good and I wanted to like this pizza. I expected so much more. I don't get the rave reviews but hey, the whole world can't be wrong so give it a try. A true hidden jem! We started with the fried mozzarella and Nashville hot wings. The fried mozzarella was so fresh and the breading was crispy and flavorful. The wings were nice and crispy and the flavor was delicious! We split a magarita pizza with burrata. The crust is nice and crunch and the fresh basil was amazing. When the Hartford Courant wrote that Oakland Pizza Company was one of the top 4 pizzerias in the state, I knew it was only a matter of time before the irresistible urge drew me there. So, a few days ago, on another "top-down" day, I drove there for lunch. It's a bit off the beaten path, in a little plaza in South Windsor. Pulling up to the storefront, my first thought was whether they were even open. There were NO other cars to be seen. ANYWHERE! But they were open. Sat in the bar area. Gabby came over and brought a glass of water and paper menus - one each for food and alcoholic beverages. I had read some previous Yelp reviews, and was intrigued by the spinach pie (fresh mutz, spinach, basil, ricotta, garlic)....plus my doctor said I should eat more veggies, so I ordered one (a LARGE one, just don't tell my doctor). Reminds me of a true story of a friend who drinks triple rum and cokes. When I asked him why, he said it was because his doctor told him to cut back on the sodas. Back to the food and drink....also ordered the eggplant fries and an Allagash white (ok, more than one). Got into a conversation with the very personable manager. One of the things I learned is that there is no freezer on premises. Nothing is frozen. They believe in freshness. A generous helping of fries came with a side of marinara sauce and grated parmesan. They were very good. Not great, but very good. The hit of the day was the pie. Excellent. Loaded with ricotta, spinach, and basil, with hints of garlic. On the thin crust side, but held the toppings well. Very fresh ingredients, and perfectly cooked. Was very happy to see other customers arrive. Was happy to hear the phone ringing, as they seem to do a good takeout business. This pizzeria is a hidden gem. I understand it's owned by the same people who own Camille's Wood-fired Pizza in Tolland. Definitely stop in this place for great pizza and great service! read more

This doesn't look like your typical pizza shop. I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the interior set up and design. The staff immediately welcomed us and were accommodating with seating choices. We ordered salads. I tried the Autumn salad and it was delicious with the perfect amount of greens to dressing ratio and goat cheese crumbles and beets. My companion had the ceasar salad which he also thoroughly enjoyed. The portions were big and we left completely satisfied. This will be one of my new favorite spots for food. I live in Manchester and was looking for a new pizza spot to try. My bf and I gave this place a shot because I saw they had a full bar. A good cocktail and some pizza sounded like my kinda dinner. When we arrived, there was plenty of parking and we were able to choose where we could be seated. The wait staff are young men and women who appear to be in high school or college. They were all very professional and attentive. On the menu, there are icons indicating which items are customer favorites. All of our meal consisted of those favorites. For appetizers, we ordered the Toscano salad and the Nashville hot honey chicken. Oh em geeeee. Both were delicious. The salad was simple but has all kinds of great texture and flavor from the ingredients. I love spicy and was pleasantly surprised these chicken tenders had a kick to them. I also ordered an old fashion and it was made well so I will definitely be back for that. For pizza, we ordered a large Spicy Roni. I love my Pizza! It's great to find a crispy crusted non greasy pizza right in my home town! We got the spicy roni which added a little zip. The Tuscany salad is packed with peppers, olives and delicious cheese. Jessica is the best waitress .. not an owner but takes pride in the restaurant and the service she provides. The Mediterranean salad is full of good things. Did not like their gluten free pizza crust! It's like a cracker! No resemblance of pizza crust. Regular crust is good. Service good. Completely disappointed in my experience here this evening. I've dined in and taken out over 40 times in the last few years and just recently had some issues. We ordered a Detroit pizza a few months back and it was raw. We called and spoke to owner Camille who was pleasant and apologetic and refunded our pizza and even went above and beyond and gave us a gift card. We used it to get more Detroit pizza as it's our fav place to get it. A month or so later I ordered thru Uber eats and the wrong pizza came. When I called they said I ordered the wrong pizza. Later it turns out it somehow was mixed up and we were given wrong pizza and they gave us a replacement pizza. Tonight I ordered a Detroit pizza and it came raw again. When I called the mgr Dennis was rude and condescending and told me perhaps Detroit pizza wasn't for me and I should consider thin sliced option as it wasn't a fluke this happened to me twice and no one else has called to complain. I was in shock that he basically insinuated I didn't know the difference between raw pizza and cooked pizza. It was sticky and when I tried to pull it apart w my fingers it was wet and pulling and springing back. The base was cooked in center and that's all. I also happen to be a culinary graduate and worked decades in the industry so I'm very well versed in raw vs cooked food. . I asked to speak to owner who offered to refund pizza and if I wanted a new pizza and I said I wanted an apology from the mgr. she said she'd see if she could find him in restaurant and have him call me. No one called so I drove my raw pizza down to show Dennis the mgr and he was just as condescending and rude even though he said it wasn't cooked to their standards. I let the owner see the pizza and she agreed it wasn't cooked and said she'd speak to him which I don't see happening. I'm amazed that a paying customer would be spoken to so rudely and again after the raw pizza was in his face. I try not to give bad reviews. You can scroll thru mine, in rare circumstances I will if it was a horrible experience and this is one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant. My husband and I recently made a trip here & we were impressed. We tried a few things & all were delicious. A classic pizza, Detroit style and the Nashville chicken sandwich. For me that day, the sandwich won it! The closest to a real Nashville style we've tried for some time. Great fries and creative drink menu. I ordered delivery from here to enjoy some pizza during Sunday afternoon football and excited to have a pizza a bit different than the standard toppings. We ordered two 12 inch pizzas, the Instagram and the Prosciutto which were about $30 for the two (not including the delivery or service fees). The pizza came nice and crispy with a good flavor on the toppings. Additionally the arugula that comes with it was placed in a separate carton with the delivery so it wouldn't get wilted on the trip! The interior decoration of this place is amazing & unexpected based on its strip mall location. I was seriously impressed & couldn't help but admire it. Loved the ambiance which is why I'd return. I enjoyed my food but if the ambiance wasn't so great it wouldn't be enough for me to come back. The chicken parm sliders were DELICIOUS & the highlight of my meal. I got the marinara on the side & didn't need to use it. The regular chicken slider with garlic aioli wasn't my cup of tea I ate one bite & could hardly swallow. Service was a bit slow but I enjoyed the ambiance and the pizza was delicious - you must love thin crust for their regular pizza (I do!!). If not, get the Detroit cut.
