Alexis Diner met my expectations. After living in the Capital Region for years, some people found it odd that I'd never been there until now. If you own a tv, you've probably seen the commercials featuring the family behind this family-owned business. I did try to go to Alexis years ago. I believe it was on a Sunday morning. There were literally no spaces left in the parking lot so I decided to pass. There are best times to visit. I showed up on a Thursday evening just before 5:30pm. The hostess greeted me and told me that the rush hadn't begun yet. About 7 tables and booths were already filled. That would have kept some businesses plenty busy but Alexis is a big place. It can seat so many more. The parking lot was less than half full. It's clean and bright. A big classic Greek diner. The wait staff and hostesses are friendly and efficient. A server was headed towards me to take my order when my iPhone suddenly rang. She immediately backed away and she returned as soon as the call ended. She was so observant. The menu is massive. If I have a bone to pick it would be over some of the pricing. I love open turkey sandwiches with gravy but it looked as though they were charging more than $17. It would have to be an out-of-this-world turkey sandwich for me to go there. Instead, I ordered a Monte Cristo for about $14. I'd never had that before. Ham, turkey and melted cheese between two slices of French toast. The sides included Cole slaw and a choice of fries or salads. I went with a green salad. It was already a high calorie meal. I asked for their house-made Greek dressing on the side which was awesome. I liked my sandwich a lot, too. I could only finish half, so I took the rest home. As with many diners, there's a big glass display case for desserts. The cakes and pies look amazing. Perhaps someday I can find if they taste as good as they look. But that's for another time. Had Lunch at Alexis Diner with friends. Not the first time dining here. Facilities are outstanding and have never been disappointed with service or food. I've eaten there several times with family and or friends and we have always enjoyed our meals as they have a great menu with a variety of dishes as well as daily specials, too. Today, my husband and I went for "Linner." We both ordered a cup of soup:my husband had the broccoli cheddar soup and I had the chicken tortellini soup. Both were deliciously homemade soups packed with flavor! My husband then had their chef salad: roast beef, ham, turkey, and American cheese--he orders it without the Swiss cheese. There are abundance of vegetables and close to a pound of high quality cold cuts. My go to lunch option is their Oriental chicken salad with grilled chicken. We've heard mix review a regarding the diner and decided to give it a try . The diner was just a typical diner ... food was good but no frills . The hostess at counter appeared to be miserable ... no eye contact... no " how was your meal" etc... We also ordered my son chicken tenders .... The waitress approached the table and warned us that the plate was terribly hot .... My immediate thought was " you know this is going out to a young boy .... Maybe slide the chicken tenders onto a cool plate? Maybe I'm being " over the top " and expect people to have common sense . Overall it was " ok" . Kitchen crew were serving food to tables, while waitresses chatted it up at the bar. The menu is well laid out, mostly burgers and wraps, salads and pasta and meat dishes. It's a 'Greek'-diner. This is my second review of this restaurant. I was fortunate enough to go on the day when they were serving one of my favorite dishes - Pastitsio. I absolutely cannot complement this dish enough. The meat was perfectly seasoned. The bechamel sauce was delicious. I'd had it at several restaurants locally and none of them came near this one. The best I've had since I frequented a Greek Village in Florida. Will definitely be back on Greek night again! Others in the party had French toast which was also described as delicious and a clam roll described as "great". Kudos to the chef and whoever's recipe he followed. The fried ravioli was amazing. I'm still thinking about it. I love how the ravioli cheese was melty and stringy, like mini mozzarella sticks. Most fried ravioli is dry. I also had the Irish nachos. This was our first visit to Alexis Diner as we stopped in for breakfast. They have a wide variety of items to choose from on their menu including many traditional diner dishes. They even have a full bar. For our breakfast, we ordered poached eggs, a hash omelet, and a side of biscuit and gravy. The poached eggs were the best dish as the eggs were cooked well with slightly wet yokes and the hollandaise sauce tasted as it should - not too sweet or lemony. The biscuit and gravy had good flavor but it was lukewarm at best. We would have sent it back to get it warmed but our server didn't come to check on us until later in our meal. The hash omelet was a bit of a disappointment. It seemed like the hash was mixed into the eggs before cooking. I didn't realize that the omelet did not come with cheese which it desperately needed as it was a bit overcooked and was extremely light on the serving of hash. The side potatoes were excellent: well-seasoned, crispy outer edges, and tend potato centers. All-in-all we enjoyed our meal. Add cheese in cheese-less omelets, test the food temp before the server walks away, and definitely get the potatoes. My next visit...meatloaf. I never leave reviews, but felt the need to leave Alexis Diner one in reading some of the poor reviews others have written. So, while I fully understand any place can serve up a subpar meal or disappoint in some way on any given day, my experiences there, which now number in the dozens, have all been great and problem free. It has become my favorite place to eat in North and East Greenbush. The grilled chicken wrap is something I order a lot, and the chicken is always moist and flavorful. I had the fish sandwich deluxe yesterday. Same, seasoned so well and tasty. I'll be getting that again. I ordered the cheeseburger about a month ago and went chilled at the first bite. Juicy, and again, the seasoning - Just perfect. Ranks up there as of the best burgers I've ever had. The only reason I haven't ordered it again is because I can't eat half a cow. No joke, it's massive. I could go on and on with all the good dishes I've had there, but let me talk numbers, because numbers don't lie. Price wise, those critics need to stop complaining. It isn't expensive at all - period. I always leave feeling I should have paid more. Often, it's crowed, if not swamped, because people know what's good! Again, numbers don't lie. So, swinging back to busyness of the Alexis Diner, if you don't want to wait patiently when they're packed, go someplace else that doesn't have line out the door. Hmmm... Oh Alexis! Great food! I came here with my boyfriend while visiting his family. Apparently this is the best breakfast place in town. It was a bit of a wait because it was so busy in the beginning. But not too bad, like 10 minutes. We were seated and then the server came around to take our orders, they offer mimosas! So that's what we ordered. Servers here are just going through the motions. But they're awesome. They're just so busy all the time . I believe I ordered some sort of classic breakfast, with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and toast.It was so good. But there was so much food. Unfortunately, we get an awful stomach ache/diarrhea when we eat there. I mean not just myself, but my husband as well. The service is never consistent. The staff, all women, chat with each other about their nails, hair, etc while we sit awaiting our check to leave. Some of the waitresses are sweet and the old-timers are just miserable. Never smile and treat you like you're an inconvenience. Now my biggest complaint is the restrooms. They are always disgusting. I mean what does the kitchen look like? Our favorite diner! I have a hard time giving a diner 5 stars... there have been some issues. My niece always orders fries when they are "pictured on the menu" but the two times we've ordered takeout from Alexis her sandwiches have come without fries... I guess you have to specify. My husband and I hadn't been here in about 3 years so we decided to give it a try. He had the Reuben and I had the Alexi's Steak Burger. Both were very good. The burger was enormous! It came with mushrooms and onions on it. I'd get it again but I'd add cheese to it. Not a ton of flavor but I added salt and ketchup and it was good. The Reuben was flavorful. Even though busy most of the time the service is solid with Alexi himself greeting and seating. Theme days Greek, corned beef, etc and special items like Chicken Pot Pie multiple soup choices and killer beef stew. They also cater events and have onsite events. Music car shows and corn hole contests. On top of being community oriented they take care of the customers. My father in law uses a walker and sometimes has a bad day, Alexi himself got a wheelchair from the back and helped him to the car. I love this place. read more

Just walked in about 30 minutes ago and it was packed. Some woman was holding an iPad and as I walked by she was moving it around and it barely brushed my arm and she dropped it. I immediately said "I'm so sorry" and she just gave me a death stare. Based on her rude response I decide not to help her pick it back up. We didn't know how to check in so asked the woman at the counter who said "you check in at that woman who's iPad you knocked on the floor". Unbelievably rude!!!! We decided to just walk out.
