I had an authentic diner experience at Country View Diner. Upon walking in, I saw the diner was packed with "regulars." How did I know this? I saw large groups dining at 8:30 AM, laughing and casually conversing with the waitresses. The decor is not 1950s themed, yet you still feel nostalgic since the vibe inside almost transports you to the 90s. The food is reasonably priced and it was a yummy meal that filled my tummy and kept me satiated until lunchtime. I ordered the breakfast sandwich without bacon and a hot chocolate, which had a generous swirl of whipped cream on top :) I ate here two weeks before Thanksgiving and the Christmas music was already blasting, but I'm not complaining! read more

Service: 5 stars. The server was excellent and paid good attention to us. Atmosphere: 5 stars clean, quiet, and friendly. Food: 3-1/2 stars I had the baked scrod. I felt it was a bit on the oily side. It came with fries, which were good and crispy, a side salad that was good and fresh with a very tasty blue cheese dressing. It also came with a veg side which I could not eat. It was canned beans and I was not impressed with them. Overall: 4 stars. My aunt eats here often and loves it. This diner is super cute inside and out! Our server was also a sweetheart. The food was fine, nothing to write home about. The pie we ordered tasted like it had been sitting out for days if not weeks. I wouldn't reccomend against coming here for a quick bite, but I wouldn't expect to be blown away. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would...but I guess the waitress was nice enough when she did come around. This experience was awful, and it may just be my perceptions as the rotten meat left a bad taste in my mouth (punny as it may be, there's no hidden joke). First and foremost, I ordered a London broil sandwich on a "garlic" roll. I took a bite and was confused as it tasted odd but couldn't get myself to swallow so I spit it out and asked someone at my table to give it a whirl. They a chewed a couple seconds and affirmed "no no, that's rotten DO NOT EAT IT." Now, some things you may not know they're rotten but steak? A chunk of London broil....if you've ever cooked a steak you know that you can SEE rotting meat...how do they miss rotten steak?! It was cooked to order as they asked how I wanted it...so precooked isn't an excuse here. One may have expected thinly sliced London broil this was CHUNK long two inch thick chunks slabbed on a big bun. I get it, places make mistakes and this was a big one but the rest of the experience wasn't good either. Another member of our party ordered a fish fry...which was a 2x3 inch chunk of fried fish less than inch thick on a round sub bun (not a cheeseburger bun, not a long roll as one would expect, but a bun that was 3x the size of the fish. Quite frankly, I would be embarassed to push that out of any kitchen of mine. We didn't get napkins or silverware, had to ask for everything and anything that would generally be provided. The window curtains were disgusting...covered in a layer of old food of all different shades? The waitress did offer an alternative meal. Or a dessert...but as one may imagine I didn't want to eat anything from there. Clearly, we won't be back and if you decide to chance it make sure you check your food out and are careful so you don't wind up with food poisoning. We have eaten here a few times now. Find this place not consistent. We ate there yesterday, and this will be the LAST time. The place was NOT busy, and the waitress took her time. I had to ask her to wash the table. She wasn't friendly. The food came fast, but was terrible. My burger was NOT medium (as asked) but cooked well. The silverware seemed dirty, even though it was pre-wrapped. Hubby's fish was overcooked as well. Oh well, live & learn. So done with this place. read more

This has been our favorite diner for over 25 years now. We've never been disappointed with the meals, never tastes like it came out of a microwave. Staff didn't seem very attentive. I placed an order through Grubhub and so I went in to see if it was done and the one of the ladies said "yes it was done." But then what makes zero sense she then goes and asks the people working in the kitchen if my order was ready? WHAT??!! You said it was ready so I don't know why you're asking them if it's ready!! What the hell??? Then you have me waiting nearly 5 minutes for it with your staff looking for it. First of all it's your responsibility to place it somewhere it can be easily spot and when it's done it should be left out in the open not somewhere hidden in the kitchen. Also I didn't see her helping them look for it. Just unbelievable. Is that seriously how you treat your staff lady??!! If you guys know what's best for you you'll never eat here. We frequent country view diner about twice a month and have been doing so since April. The diner started out as perfectly mediocre. Just a decent variety of your average diner favorites. As the months have passed, the service has gotten worse and the food prep has been horrendous. On our previous two trips there, the most recent being yesterday, we were dismayed to see several flies buzzing around the diner. Flying around... landing on our clothes and our tables and menus. Although I have no proof, I wouldn't be surprised if the flies were in contact with our food. Basically I would be perfectly content to never come back to county view diner. And if they don't clean up their act, I won't need to worry about that. I'm sure the Department of Health will get rid of them on their own. read more

I watched a waitress side eye a young African American couple like they were pieces of trash so that made me feel different about the place. Ambiance is something to be desired. The managers or owners were screaming at each in a foreign language for 10-15 minutes within a few feet of our booth. Great food but hit and miss service. This was our fifth time visiting the Country View Diner. This review is for our last visit which was in the afternoon (Mon, Oct 21). We were seated and served water, but it took a while for them to show up with our coffee. Then we waited very long for them to show up again and take our order. While we were waiting to order food, another customer who came in later than us was already served drink and food. He is apparently a regular because he knew everyone's name and the staff knew his name too. I understand that sometimes restaurants like to serve their regulars first, however, they should't do so while keep other customers waiting for very long. read more

Unfortunately this place doesn't fare well in being my first review for this mission. Eggs: they were runny Bacon: adequate, decent flavor Pancakes: what the heck? It's like they took cornbread/corn muffin mix and put it into the shape of a pancake. I mean, maybe that's you're thing--but I like fluffy, buttermilk pancakes--and these were not that. Its great place to stop in for pie and coffee or a great meal any time of the day. There's a sense of familiarity that makes me instantly relax when I walk through the door. Their menu is complete with all of your diner favorites. I especially love their Greek dishes and can't stop ordering the Gyro with Greek Salad. Their homemade soups and pastries are delicious and freshly made each day. I've read the comments about their service and can only say that they're friendly and attentive but aren't going to gush all over you like you're a rock star. I'm really ok with that. They're always quick to refill my coffee and never fail to stop by to make sure that everything is ok. Just finished having lunch here with my grammy. First off, it's a 2.5 not a 3. Food was ok, service wasn't so good. When we showed up at about 11:30 the place was fairly empty, by 1 it was almost full something to keep in mind if you're in a bind for time. Waitress wasn't the worst I've ever had. However a few things bothered me. First the second we sat down she wanted to know what drinks we wanted, my grandmother wanted hers with her meal, seemingly perturbed the waitress gave us an "ooooo-k". Then my grandmother asked if she could lower the shade so the sun wasn't in her eyes. The waitress says "no, but you can ... the thing you use is right there". Ok, maybe she didn't want to lean over anyone or didn't feel like saying "sure, can I get by you" but my grandmother is in her late 80's and a bit arthritic... she could have helped. I'd have done it, and offered to do so after the waitress refused but she wouldn't let me. She came by to ask if we were ready to order, when we responded no we got an eye roll from her and the "oooooo-k" again. Finally, when the glass is empty fill it please! Don't walk by for 15 minutes and do nothing. Food? It was ok. On the diner scale of good to bad, it was good. I had lemon pepper chicken, it was a bit dry but chicken is often that way when it's just grilled white meat. I couldn't taste the lemon but I was satisfied with it. It came with a soup, which was tasty and dessert. Choice of various puddings or jello. I went jello. Lot of food, too much for me to finish. Service needs work, but it's a diner so I guess it's to be expected. Food is pretty good, you get a lot of it. Prices are cheap. When the waitress stops by things move fast, if she doesn't you'll end up waiting quite awhile for your check. Unless you get another waitress perhaps. read more

The waitress was probably the worst I've ever had in my life. Unbelievably rude and short. Her fingers were into the bowls and touching the food as she brought them over. I am a vegetarian and the home fries smelled like they were cooked in bacon grease, unmistakably. I asked for cottage cheese instead, very nicely. Waitress came back-told me I was wrong and there was no bacon --even though everyone at the table agreed with me. And charged me $3 extra for the cottage cheese. Horrible service, horrible food. I went to the Country View Diner a few times within a few weeks a couple of years ago with my parents, because we were taking care of some business out that way. They were mostly good experiences. However, one time they seated us right next to the noisy hostess station where the phone and computer were. The diner was practically empty, so my mother asked them to move us to a quiet booth by the window. The staff acted annoyed but complied. I ordered a sandwich, which they served without any dressing so that it was tasteless. That was probably just a coincidence. To be fair, I think I haven't gone back to the Country View Diner, because one time I went there with a "friend." I asked him something, and he said, "And you think that's why everyone hates you?" The french fries were green, bad potatoes. note: green potatoes are poisonous! 12/19/2015 approximately 8:30am. Let me preface this review by saying that we have eaten lunch here in the past and found the food (overall) good to very good. With that said.... Breakfast. My wife ordered the Eggs Florentine. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Both breakfasts had untoasted English Muffins as the base (not buttered), basically raw bread. The home fries were in a separate small cup and both portions were quite meager. I requested my home fries to be well done and they identical as my wife's home fries (not well done). So much for attention to detail. Eggs Florentine usually presents with Gruyère cheese or some other type of cheese drizzle. Not the case here. My wife was unable to identify what type of "sauce" was inadequately & sparingly spooned over her eggs. I tried it and was also unable to identify same. My wife stated that the entire dish was tasteless and inadequate. Eggs Benedict usually has a drizzle of hollandaise sauce over the eggs. I have had Eggs Benedict many times in the past (various locations from the Capital Region to Long Island and also several outside states) and can honestly say I had no idea what was sparsely spooned over my eggs - no taste at all. My overall dish was also inadequate. Staff - our waitress had the personality of a wet cat. Not friendly. The kid behind the cash register with the poor choice in footwear simply looked at me when I gave him my check and payment... I was waiting for him to ask the usual "how was everything" but that would have required a modicum of giving a shite. I didn't offer my opinion on our poor breakfasts because in doing so I would be wasting my time (understatement). In summation - maybe the cooks, the server and the cash register kid were having a bad day. In fairness I cannot comment on other breakfast items as this was our first (and probably last) visit to this diner for breakfast. I am hoping that was the case (just a bad day) because if this is the standard for both these dishes the owner needs to visit a few competitors to see what the words adequate, tasteful, appealing & satisfying mean to the outside world or fire the army cooks. Also, the owner needs to reboot staff attitudes. Needless to say we won't be spending our hard-earned money there for breakfast anytime soon. You have been warned. Too many other choices out there.
