Service: 5 stars. The server was excellent and paid good attention to us. Atmosphere: 5 stars clean, quiet, and friendly. Food: 3-1/2 stars I had the baked scrod. I felt it was a bit on the oily side. It came with fries, which were good and crispy, a side salad that was good and fresh with a very tasty blue cheese dressing. It also came with a veg side which I could not eat. It was canned beans and I was not impressed with them. Overall: 4 stars. My aunt eats here often and loves it. I'm positive other food items would be delicious as well. Prices were very affordable.

The Country View Diner serves up tasty food with generous portions at moderate prices, most dinners in the $10-$15 range. I've dined here several times with my friend's family and they absolutely love the food here. The Country View Diner is a popular stop for Vermont travelers and we've seen tour buses and plenty of out of state plates in the lot. Even my boss back in NH, loves stopping at Country View with his family on his way to/from Rochester. This place seems more like a regular family restaurant than the typical diner. The casual dining room is very bright and carpeted with table and booth seating. The extensive menu offers a good variety of homestyle favorites including breakfast dishes, appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, chops, chicken, ribs, seafood, platters, Italian dishes, Greek dishes, and homemade desserts (bakery on premises). Lunch Specials and Daily Specials available. Beer, wine and cocktails are served here too. The items on the Children's Menu which include potato, jello or ice cream, and drink (sorry no alcohol) are named after NY sports teams including: NY Knicks (Grilled Cheese), NY Mets (Roast Beef), NY Islanders (Fried Shrimps), NY Yankees (Hamburger), RPI Engineers (Spaghetti & Meat Ball), NY Rangers (Roast Turkey), NY Giants (Chicken Fingers), and NY Jets (Frankfurter), pretty cool!! See the menu at: http://www.restaurantrow.com/moreinfo.cfm?code=858445 I enjoy the Mousaka served with a cup of soup, salad, and rice, a generous portion of hot and tasty food. I've also had the Roast Chicken (served with potato & vegetable and soup or salad) and Breaded Shrimp Parmigiana (served with spaghetti and soup or salad) which are both pretty good. The service is very good and attentive. On our last visit, our waitress was very chatty with us since the place was not that busy on a Saturday night. We got several refills on sodas to wash down the aftertaste of the meals. Oh yes, I got a Napoleon to go which was pretty good and tasted very sweet.

Great food but hit and miss service. This was our fifth time visiting the Country View Diner. This review is for our last visit which was in the afternoon (Mon, Oct 21). We were seated and served water, but it took a while for them to show up with our coffee. Then we waited very long for them to show up again and take our order. While we were waiting to order food, another customer who came in later than us was already served drink and food. He is apparently a regular because he knew everyone's name and the staff knew his name too. I understand that sometimes restaurants like to serve their regulars first, however, they should't do so while keep other customers waiting for very long.

Good diner food. Honestly wasn't expecting much because I saw the reviews on Yelp but I liked the place. The service was friendly. Not super friendly but friendly enough. The food was hot and fresh and the soups were yummy. I don't know why they got such bad reviews. I liked my split pea soup and absolutely loved the chicken soup that my hubby got. The fish fry was freshly fried and very good. Oh and their Philly cheesesteak sandwich was very good too. Perfectly cooked meat and yummy melted cheese.

This brunch is a well laid out with numerous options. There was eggs, bagels, bread, fruit and many Korean items and some sweets. Ice water, coffee and Tea and apple juice all included with other optional drinks available at a small additional charge. Most were $1 or 2. The Food and atmosphere were both excellent. The Dining room, buffet area, and the coffee and drink sections were very clean and tidy throughout our visit. I didn't take enough pictures but there was 3 lines of tables of different salads, sides, noodles, hard boiled eggs, hot items, fried items, desserts, etc. We sat on the deck, overlooking the grounds and the breeze was nice and weather was perfect. I had some time to spare recently after dropping my dog off at a veterinary clinic in Troy. I ordered the Turkish Breakfast Plate which turned out to be the most expensive breakfast on the menu. It came with a lot of food. It included eggs, Simit ( a Turkish sesame bagel), grapes, toast, honey, olives and cream cheese. I also ordered a Turkish coffee which is a little stronger than what I'm use to. It hit the spot. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant small but clean and cute. It looks as though the owners might have added a table. There are three or four tables in all. There's a new partition in the kitchen providing a little more distance between customers and those working on food prep. Gone are the beautiful ornate gold detailed Turkish dinner plates and teacups. I found them charming though not practical. I sort of miss them but they looked like heirloom items which wouldn't be appropriate for day-to-day use. They've been replaced by simple white dish-ware. Much more cost effective. FYI. There are no restrooms for customer use. That issue never came up for me but an older couple came in looking for a restroom and the owner advised them to go to the fast food restaurant down the street. As for the food, it was every bit as good as I expected. Some things don't change. I took the leftovers home and made another meal of it the next day.

Then we watched for 20 minutes as people that came in multiple parties after us got their food and we had nothing. Then she brought 3 out of 4 meals. My girlfriend ordered the special Raspberry Nutella French Toast. It came with strawberries and we were told, "we're out of raspberries so we substituted strawberries." That is total BS. How about telling us you are out of raspberries and asking if we want something else. My girlfriend can't really eat strawberries since they make her break out. Even worse is I STILL didn't have my food. Server said, "yours is coming, but I didn't want these to get cold." After the rest of my party was halfway done with their breakfast and I still didn't have mine, I asked for a manager. I was told there is no manager there...another load of BS. Server came back and I told her I didn't want my food at this point. She said, "okay, I'll just bring the bill." Are you f'ing kidding me??? You expect us to pay for this crap?? Needless to say, I will NEVER be back to this $hithole. Service is horrible and they will not let you complain to a manager. No manager is there on a busy weekend day? I find that hard to believe. Stay away from this place if you actually want to eat a meal and not just watch everyone around you eat. If you do decide to go, make sure not to sit in Tara's section.

The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. There was also a sign mentioning live jazz on Fridays, which sounds like a great added touch. Overall, a very strong 5 stars.

Well I'm glad I did because this old school diner was of the highest quality. Taking this into account, I ordered a ham, cheese, and bacon omelette with corned beef hash and the results were excellent. To begin, the omelette was delicious. The eggs were cooked to perfection and tasted fresh. Similarly, the bacon was done just right. It wasn't too crispy or too undercooked. Likewise, the cheese was melted perfectly in the middle of the omelette to create a harmony of flavors. It was nice to see a diner actually being able to make a great omelette these days. After that, I tried the corned beef hash and it was great. To explain, the corned beef hash was savory, salty, and richly meaty, with a distinctive tangy and spiced kick from the cured beef. We had a reservation at 6pm and felt invisible when we walked in, just to be seated in a table 5 feet away. Maybe they were understaffed, but friendly staff could have gone a long way here. We started with cocktails and they were all good. We didn't really have opportunities to order more, so I only tried one. We started with the Fried Burrata and Caesar salad. The fried buratta was delicious but not enough bread, or a spoon served with it so most of the sauce went to waste. We loved the pesto on the dish. The Caesar salad was extremely underdressed and under seasoned. None of us enjoyed it. We then ordered entrees, I got the flat iron and they ordered the carbonara and the burger. The flat iron was ordered rare, and served blue. The steak and sauce on it was cold. I didn't complain because I didn't want to try and call her over, they did not check on us after the food was delivered. The sauce on it was okay but I think it took away from the flavor of the meat, very strong cumin and chili flavor, a little gritty. The fries were good and the broccolini was mushy and overcooked. The carbonara was also a miss, it was overly peppered and unpleasant to eat. This dish was ultimately sent back and we explained it was overly peppered and inedible, and she ordered something else. My friend who ordered the burger really enjoyed it and it looked great. The server was not accommodating at all and barely checked on us. We sent food back and the server just threw it away without a thought in the world, and it remained on the bill. At this point we just wanted to pay and leave. Bad service can ruin a night, and it put a damper on our girls night out. My photos came out impeccable, unfortunately most of it looked better than it tasted.
