Since I'm in the mood for writing reviews: I can't believe it actually took me so long to write this. I have been getting my hair done at Massimo Salon for about 3 years now. I was very sceptical at first because EVERY single place I had gone to before here in California completely butchered my hair and always left me disappointed. I decided I would only get my hair cut and colored once a year when I traveled back home (outside of the US). Until I met Alfonso. I gave it a try and I am hooked. This place is awesome. Where do I begin. First, entering the salon you immediately are greeted with what feels like your extended family or friend. The staff is so warm and delightful. They work well as a team and let Massimo do his magic. And it is magic. My hair has never looked so good. I am hard to please in this area since genetically I have been gifted good hair. Massimo gives me gorgeous shiny rich colored hair and my layers just fall into each other. He makes it so it is easy for me to go home and repeat his magic. She took about 3 hours (much shorter than I'd anticipated) and took time listening to me and looking at pictures. I recently moved back to San Diego and needed a new hairstylist. I immediately contacted Kaylene since she has been doing hair for years and I happen to know her since middle school. I was donating my hair so I was coming for a drastic change (cut, color, highlights ). I was not dissapointent! In fact I absolutely loved my entire experience. I put all my faith in Kaylene and she did not dissapoint. The cut was amazing and the color was absolutely perfect. Oh and the best part was the head massage when shampooing hair. Stylist Kaylene is the best! She's so great with color and cut! I've never found a stylists that rocks at both! I have been going to her for almost 5 yrs now and it just hit me at my wedding that I need to tell other brides/women about her and her salon. She did my hair color the week before my wedding. Hit her up at the salon in La Jolla. Parking on the street in front is free. And be sure to book an appointment. The salon is owned by a really nice italian gentleman, but Kaylene totally runs the show there. She's so cute and super nice. I highly recommend her! read more

Kaylene has been cutting my hair for 5+ years. My mom is a retired hair stylist and goes te Kaylene now too. She always does amazing work and my hair is super healthy, mostly because of the products she recomends. If you have curly hair, you know how hard it is to get a good hair cut. After growing out an awful haircut for over a year, I relied on a friends recommendation to go to Massimo and get a haircut with Kaylene. I'm SO glad I went with her!!! She is so sweet and listens to EXACTLY what you want. Since I'm trying to grow out my hair, all I wanted her to do was to trim my hair up a bit and kind of fix the layers that a previous hair stylist had messed up. She did that PLUS, my hair actually looks longer and styles a lot better. This salon looks old and small at first, but once you're sitting in your chair and you observe the people that come in and out, you can tell that they're all regulars and have been coming for years. Kaylene has been there for ever and she does seem to run the show there. The other stylists were coming to her for direction and she is just on top of things. I look forward to coming here again. I also love going to Nickie for nails because she truly cares about the quality and the result of the nails! We just tried out a new chrome nail that I am very pleased with! A friend recommended them when my regular stylist moved to Las Vegas. Called and made an appointment on short notice. I couldn't believe how busy the place was, yet everything was being handled very professionally. The cute gal that washed my hair included a scalp massage that was almost better than sex and Alfonso cut and styled my hair to perfection. When I was done, I decided to do a little window shopping over on Prospect St. then I went down to the bluffs at La Jolla Cove and enjoyed the ocean view. All in all, a great afternoon! read more

Myself and lots of people (friends and family) i know go to Massimo Salon and see Alfonzo and they always have high remarks about his services. He is very friendly and they always do their best to fit you in even if it is a short notice. The team work is amazing. Before you know it, you are done and out of there. Some times the parking can be chalenging in La Jolla, but that does not stop me from going there. I have gotten haircuts, hair colors and styles many time with good and happy results. Alfonzo gives you his all, along with his staff. Small salon but mighty. I highly recommend you to go here for your Salon needs. they also do mani/pedi too, which i only used once. Only because i play the piano and can't wear my nails long to make them pretty. They use sanitized tools that is kept in a box under your name only. the lady is very sweet and friendly. read more

OMG, I don't know where to start. I asked my most glamorous friend in the world to tell me where she got her beautiful locks, and she said to go see Angelo at Massimo Salon. I have super thick long hair, not loved by most stylists due to the time involved in getting it done. But I felt nothing but love from Angelo, Kaylene and Eve! Kaylene gave me a rich, gorgeous color, Eve washed my hair (and like someone else mentioned on here, the scalp massage is practically orgasmic), and Angelo gave me perhaps the best cut of my LIFE! I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't hurt having a sexy Italian man cutting your hair! But that aside, I really have to tell everyone to just take my word for it and try this place. Oh, and the price of my color with highlights, cut, scalp massage with special conditioners, cut and style was a FRACTION of what I have paid elsewhere! I assume when you go to a La Jolla salon, you have to take out a second mortgage to pay for your services, but I actually felt guilty about how little they charged.
