I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! I am traveling for work and I decided to take myself on a little date as I've never been to Cinncinati and this place was perfect. Amazing atmosphere, the sweetest and most knowledgeable staff, and FANTASTIC food & wine. Eric (I believe that was his name) was incredible. He knew everything about the wine and dishes he was serving, and by the end I just kept telling him to surprise me with his suggestions and he did not disappoint. It has a very classy but comforting feel to it. Very very clean, and everything was brought to me very quickly even though they were busy. I cannot recommend it enough, it's perfect. I am hoping I get to return to Cinncinati because I will come back to Alfio's anytime I can. I had a lot more than the photos, and Eric brought me a DELICIOUS desert wine. We came here on Friday and it was packed, but they let us sit at the bar. Great service, loved the skirt steak with chimichurri and they did a great job cooking it "medium rare." The gnocchi bolognese was good but slightly salty for our taste. There's free gelato if you check in on yelp, and that was very good :). We look forward to coming back another time. read more

Absolutely divine meal!! We came here in recommendation of a friend and we're so happy they shared this place with us. We had a 6:30 reservation and I had 6pm in my head, so we showed up really early but they sat us right away with no question! Service was extremely friendly but not overbearing. We told her it was our first time and she made sure to highlight her favorite dishes and crowd favorites. I loved how accommodating they were to vegetarian options. She said most all of their pastas could be made vegetarian, which opened up so many more options for me! I got the butternut squash agnolotti and it was out of this world. My husband got the short rib and it just melted off the bone. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer and it was maybe too much arugula, but delish. The salads are also amazing! So many yummy options that I wish we could have sampled them all. Save room for dessert because they are also amazing. The break pudding and tiramisu are to die for. The ambiance is perfect for a fancy date night or celebration. It's tucked back and dark, but not too dark. Comfy seats make staying there for a while really easy. Amazing food and fantastic service! My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here yesterday evening. We've missed fine dining in the several months that this pandemic has worn on and we were looking forward to our evening. Alfio's didn't disappoint! We started out with some cocktails. My husband had a Peroni and I had the Down the Rabbit Hole cocktail. It's a bourbon cocktail that is cherrywood smoked and it was fabulous! It came to the table with a coaster on top - holding all the cherrywood smoke in the glass. It was smoky and slightly sweet. We decided on the Mussels for an appetizer. They were delicious. The only thing missing was some crusty bread to soak up the broth. For our main course I ordered the Ravioli Duo. I chose the Lobster and Crab ravioli and the Wild Mushroom ravioli. My husband ordered the Italian Filet. It was served with gorgonzola mashed potatoes and Brussel's spouts. We both thought our meals were fantastic! Both of the raviolis had great flavor and it was impossible to pick a favorite. My husband said his steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. We finished the evening by sharing a Strawberry Gelato. It was creamy, sweet and a slightly decadent end to an amazing dinner. Stacy, our server, provided excellent, friendly service which added to a wonderful dining experience. Really interesting and am a bit unsure how to rate this restaurant. It charges high end prices but does not have the commiserate service that should be included First, the food in general was great! Short Ribs, burrata, duck bacon fettuccine, grilled Caesar salad all phenomenal. Bad miss with the gnocchi. It was like someone plopped balls of dough in a pot with little care of taste or texture. Very heavy and plodding. The truffle sauce was oily and overbearing. Just disappointing. The service was very friendly and very inattentive at the same time. Plates piling up and no teamwork when other bussers or servers walked by, saw them, and I assume just thought it wasn't their table. Even the manager walked by twice until I asked them to help the third time he walked by. 10 minutes for a drink order, another 10 to receive menu's...if you are going to charge higher end prices, service should match the expectations. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and attentive. We got the fixed price menu which had amazing variety. Myself: Spicy Pork Belly and Shallot Empanada, Argentine Chili, Grilled Argentine Skirt Steak, Reese's Cup Cheesecake Fiance: Warm Gorgonzola Cheesecake, Butternut Squash Soup, Stuffed Flounder in a Lobster Cognac Sauce, Chocolate Caramel Tiramisu. Recently I went here to celebrate my birthday. I knew my family was coming to visit from out of town and they wanted something more traditional Italian. Despite, the unique Argentinian flare (I can't wait to try those dishes) they offer a lot of your typical Italian dishes like meat ravioli with five cheese and tomato sauce. I was a bit nervous since no one in my immediate circle has heard of this place and for some reason it is not recognized on google maps (HEY GOOGLE! you should fix this). But as soon as I walked in I could just tell it was going to be a good experience. The ambiance is romantic and welcoming with not over-the-top decor. It was comfortable in a way that it welcomed those who were dressed in suites as well as those wore dressy casual attire. Though the place is not too large, I liked the layout of the tables--they give you just enough space to have your own privacy so you feel like you are not joining another party or able to "accidentally" listen to their conversations. Aside from the ambiance our waitress was pleasant and attentive. I also loved that she told us that it was half off ravioli day (I wonder if it's every Tuesday?) while she asked us for our drink order (Psst the Meritage Argentinian wine was perfect). Of course this swayed us so 3 out of four of us ordered ravioli dishes. I had the pleasure of trying everyone's dish and I liked all of them. The chicken marsala had a simple yet flavorful sauce with al dente noodles and tender large pieces of chicken breakfast; the five cheese angus ravioli were juicy and provided a punch due to the rich 5 cheeses mixed within the dish; the short rib ravioli were to die for... the sauce was a white cream sauce with a hint of wine and the meat was well seasoned and so tender. I also enjoyed the mushroom addition since the earthy flavor complimented the meat and cream sauce; and the wild mushroom ravioli were seasoned and cooked well--perfect for those who love their dish to have a prominent mushroom flavor. The portions for all 4 dishes were bigger than expected since I believe this place to be a bit upscale and typically restaurants of the same caliber will offer smaller portions (all of us had leftovers). The main courses were wonderful and my night ended with a scoop of rumchata gelato. It was smooth, tasted great, wasn't too sweet and just melted in my mouth with each bite (Thank you Yelp for offering this check-in gift right on my birthday :D). I was very impressed with my experience! Working at a Forbes Five Star rated resort (Sea Island), I am accustomed to certain dining standards, but I was blown away by the team's service tonight! Karlyn was an amazing server, and her menu knowledge and recommendations were on point. The mozzarella salad and lamb were wonderful! The sommelier Cole, was great with his wine knowledge and poise; a great complement to my experience. Karlyn was also very well versed in wine and whiskey acumen, and she made excellent recommendations. Sully was also present to help with thoughts and samples. Lots of staff touched the table to make a memorable evening, including Chef Alfio! I appreciate all of the staff creating a fantastic evening...especially for a miniscule single guest on a slow Tuesday evening! Tried this place last night for the first time, and came away with some mixed feelings. Atmosphere was great, as was the service. The smoked bolognese sauce was amazing, and the bruschetta was also quite yummy. However, the ravioli, which featured very prominently on the menu, was not well executed. I tried a duo of the short rib and lobster & crab varieties, and found them to be tasty but clunky and inelegant. They were far too large, and the pasta sheets should have been rolled much thinner... a glaring technical flaw in a restaurant of this caliber. Also, my wife's filet mignon was only one inch thick -- not a restaurant grade cut for a $38 menu item. Nonetheless, dessert was a redeeming element of the evening -- we got the bread pudding, which was off the charts delicious. Bottom line: the food was generally very nice and the overall experience was agreeable, despite some notable flaws. Definitely worth trying at least once. read more

First off, what has taken me so long to discover Alfio's Buon Cibo!?!?! My mother took me here last weekend, since she's been raving about it for months. Alfio's is known for their spin on Italian-Argentine dishes that do not disappoint. Can we say DELICIOUS! First we were greeted by the most friendly staff that welcomed us in and quickly seated us. The owner Scott stopped by to introduce himself to me, and already knew my mother. A few of the waitresses also remembered my mom from past visits. Our waitress was Allie and she was wonderful. She was on point throughout our whole meal, keeping our drinks full, providing great food recommendations, and casual chit chat that was nice. Now to the food! We started off by sharing the Grilled Romaine Salad. It was so yummy, the perfect amount of grilled flavor with a delicious tomato vinaigrette. It was a perfect portion for sharing. Since I was told they were known for their freshly made ravioli, that was my dinner selection. I had the Duo meal and chose the Short Rib Ravioli and Five Cheese Angus Ravioli. Both just melted in my mouth! The truffle sauce in the Short Rib was just perfectly paired. The cheese of the Five Cheese was the perfect amount of oozy cheesiness, without taking away from the ravioli itself. I had leftover of both to indulge in again for lunch. My mom had the Halibut with parmesan, spinach risotto which was also cooked perfectly. After all of that food we were too full for dessert, but I can't wait to try some of their selections at my next visit. I recommend you trying Alfio's Buon Cibo soon if you haven't already. We were recommended by our friends to go to Alfio's in Hyde Park. Our evening started off with some fantastic drinks at the bar... And then it went south. Our waiter was not existent most of the evening as we had to fight him down continuously when we needed something. When he showed up, we asked for two drinks for our dinner partners and let him know that it was a birthday celebration for our husbands. He kept apologizing that it was busier than normal, but we had a reservation... so not sure why he was not attentive. The food was average at best with almost every dish being too salty and luke warm frites with my husband's $65 skirt steak everything meant to Cherri on our friends lamb. He never brought an espresso martini. I ordered and never recognize the birthdays at our table. We tried Alfio's tonight after tasting their Korean BBQ empanada at the Taste of Cincinnati last year. Our experience exceeded expectations in both taste and service! Sarah was spectacular as our guide through the menu! She made amazing recommendations and was fun to talk to throughout the meal! Regardless of the food, go visit her! She will no doubt steer you in the right direction! In fact, everyone on staff that we encountered was friendly and helpful! Now on to the food - We have not had a meal that we have ooh'd and aah'd over in a long time. This meal will not be forgotten anytime soon! We started with the mussels and two empanadas (yes you can do that!). The broth for the mussels was good enough to eat with a spoon - so flavorful and yummy! We had the Korean bbq and spinach/cheese empanada...both delicious but the Korean is still my fave! We decided to try the raviolis and loved the short rib best! For the main course we split the salmon, which was delicious, but the butternut mash was the star of the dish for me! We were so full we ordered dessert to go. Last night was my first time dining at Alfio's. I've heard great things and decided it was finally time to try it myself. Likes: - Empanadas were on point! - Grilled Caesar Salad was excellent! - Wine Selection was very large and not terribly expensive Dislikes: - Bolognese Sauce should NOT have red ragu style sauce mixed in with it. I'm not one to send back food but the Bolognese was horrible and reminded me of a Marie Calendar meal. I had never seen or tasted Bolognese like this so my recommendation would be stay FAR AWAY! This honestly ruined my experience after everything about this place was perfect. The smoked flavor is also just not very appetizing, and the noodles that were used seemed to be over cooked, kind of mushy. - This place is extremely loud, I could hear my next door tables conversations easier than my own and I constantly had to repeat myself or yell to the people I was eating with. So, Alfio's is overall really good as long as you stay far away from the Bolognese sauce. I hope management sees my concern and changes their recipe ASAP lol. I would eat here again but might have to find a less busy time than 9pm on a Saturday because you cannot converse with your table easily. read more
