We came here for Valentines/Anniversary. It has been a couple of years since we were here, we did enjoy greatly before and this time was no different. Our server, Jackson, was very polite, not pushy and very attentive. He made some suggestions and left us to our own devices. The open floor plan and hard surfaces does make it a bit noisy, but it wasn't bothersome (you could still make out some of the background music). The food...oh the food. So good. We started with Drunkin Goat. So good, but get some extra bread...you'll need it. Next the salmon. Buttery, the capers and olive gave the polenta base a great flavor. Then.. THE CHOCOLATE DOME! My friend has a bowl of risotto that looked like mush. There was a dessert on the menu for $27- not a typo . Beautiful spot in downtown Loveland. My friend and I came here when the weather was absolutely stunning. The outdoor patio has a great atmosphere. Our waiter was very kind and knowledgeable. Thursday evening, so it wasn't really crowded. Seated immediately and server was tight on the spot. Took our drink orders then came back with water and asked if we had any questions about the menu. We ordered wine and a beer. Chatted briefly with our waitress about selection and then placed our food order. I ordered the Calabrian pizza, crushed tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, soppressatta calabrese, roasted peppers, red onions and chili oil. My preference for crust is a little bit thicker but this had a really nice flavor to it. The toppings all were great. Quite pleased with my choice. My wife ordered the Bolognese pasta, rigatoni, tomato and beef ragu. Could not eat it all so ate it for lunch a couple of days later. Said it still tasted great! Can't remember what our friends ordered, but they were quite happy with their entrees. Dessert!! I had not found any really great gelati here in Cincinnati until now! The chocolate gelato was just,!!! Wow! Sooo good!! And two large scoops, too! Yummy!! My wife had the crème brûlée, said it was really good! We were celebrating one of our friends birthday, so they surprised us with a small sampler crème brûlée and a single scoop of gelato. The ladies had espresso martinis topped with toasted marshmallow. Every time we have reservations to come to Rodi I am so excited! The food is delicious. I have gotten the pizza crust is so good, I literally think about it for days! Rodi was a lovely foray into Loveland dining. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and escorted to our table. They had a lovely outdoor deck for dining but we opted to eat inside. For starters, the hubs and I shared a tasty Caesar salad with the perfect amount of crispy parmesan, and a delicious Margarita pizza. The pizza was cooked perfectly and had a delectable crust that we both devoured. As a main, we ordered the lasagna and garganelli tartufati. The lasagna was honestly one of the top five lasagnas we've had. The truffle garganelli was creamy and tasty, albeit a tad overcooked. For dessert, we opted for the tiramisu which had too much marscapone rendering it inedible. However, they removed it from our bill which we were not expecting, but grateful nonetheless. They made a delicious cappuccino which was the perfect end to a lovely dinner. I would dine here again and recommend Rodi for a date night or family dinner. read more

Don't bother driving through the parking on this one. Just go ahead and walk because you'll need it with the caloric intake. Lovely outside seating but ended up inside with the doors open to enjoy the weather. The lasagna wasn't your basic, the béchamel was amazing. The peach cheesecake was a disappointment - good cheesecake but literally tasted like canned peaches on top. Services was great but this place was hoping on a Wednesday night. We met another couple for dinner tonight. They wanted to try Rodi Italian, so we met them there. The parking is horrible. Either get there early or be prepared to walk. This wasn't the first time my wife and I had eaten at Rodi Italian. My hope was it would be better than my previous experience. Unfortunately, this evening did not change my impression. Starting with the good, the fried calamari appetizer was a good choice. We enjoyed it instead of a salad to start the meal. And the service was excellent. However, it was a frigid night, and I learned you couldn't order hot tea. So I ordered a Maker's Mark to warm me instead. My wife had a riesling. In my humble opinion, the wine was relatively premium priced ($16). But on the positive side, I appreciate that Rodi Italian makes its own pasta and cooks it al dente. Bravissimo! On the flip side, I would say the food was good but not remarkable. It was reasonably priced. My biggest disappointment is that the restaurant is always really loud (high ceilings) and not particularly intimate. That makes it challenging to have a conversation without raising your voice. Tonight was no different. Bottom line? Rodi Italian is a reasonable choice if you live in or around Loveland and want a good Italian meal. I describe it as simply "good" because my maternal heritage is Italian, and I have high standards from growing up in an Italian neighborhood (no, not in Ohio). For perspective, if I had to choose between Rodi Italian or Forno Osteria and Bar in Montgomery, Forno would win every time. But, give Rodi Italian a try. You might like it. When we question another server they said oh sorry we can take care of that, but never did . The food was average, nothing over or above. We will not be back. I struggled between 4 or 5 stars, for that reason I went 4. We had an early dinner for a night out without our kids. Our server was great. Super attentive. Knew the menu really well. Drinks - I got an espresso martini and glass of wine. Both were really good and came out fast. Our server was right there when our drinks were getting low. Again, really top notch service. We had the Brussels sprouts, calabrian pizza, lasagna and carbonara. We had a lot of leftovers. The Brussels were excellent. 5/5. Well seasoned and served over some kind of cheese. Really fantastic. The pizza was good but not as good as I hoped. The crust was crispy like it should be and the toppings were tasty but it wasn't quite as good as coal's in Louisville. The lasagna was 5/5. Awesome. Wouldn't change a thing. The carbonara was clearly homemade. A little al dente for my taste, but the sauce was creamy and well seasoned. We ordered way too much to try dessert. There were four of us dining this time and the noise level seemed to be much better! We arrived for our Friday night reservation and were seated immediately. Our server, Tabitha, was wonderful and attentive. We tried more of the dishes that we didn't try the first time around, and had two bottles of the lovely Pieropan Soave. We were served a lovely amuse bouche to start that was some mild blue cheese rice upon a crisp with fresh herbs. Nice touch. Here is what we thought: Burrata Tartufata - Beautiful, generous portion of creamy burrata with a fresh arugula, cherry tomato, and olive oil and balsamic accompaniment. Very classic Italian. Tortino - a souffle of mushroom with melted cheese. This was unexpectedly delicious and unique. It was so good that I will try to recreate it at home! Spaghetti Vongole - spaghetti with clams and shrimp. It was cooked perfectly, however there was not enough shrimp and lacked sauce and some flavor. Still enjoyable. Gnocchi - very authentic potato gnocchi that just needed a little seasoning and more sauce. Not our favorite, but our guests liked it. Amatriciana - we are not a fan of bucatini pasta, so we requested spaghetti. For a simple preparation, this dish was the best pasta dish we had all night. Both of our beef dishes were fantastic: Ten Hour Short Rib - we would order over and over! The short rib was seasoned and cooked to perfection. It was meaty, not fatty, and a nice portion. Ribeye Special - bone in, perfectly cooked and seasoned steak. The mashed potatoes were also yummy, and the broccolini, which is usually not our favorite, had a light dressing of some kind that brightened it and changed my mind about broccolini. The creme brulee was just okay. The creme was good, it just tasted like the torch gas a little on top. Rodi had is it going on for sure. So glad we can eat wonderful Italian without having to go all the way downtown. read more

Went to Rodi for a celebration dinner and half price wine night. I had heard Rodi had amazing gluten free pasta and really wanted to try it. We started with the chopped salad and a bottle of wine. Not only was the salad a work of art, it tasted amazing. I ordered the Short Rib Papperdelle with gluten free noodles. Probably the best gluten free pasta I've ever had! I couldn't stop eating it. Great bar on the middle of the restaurant with an open kitchen and large visible pizza oven. Service was good but my wife and I were very disappointed in the food. We split the pesto gnocchi and Calabrian pizza. The gnocchi was super mushy and sauce felt like it was out of the jar at Kroger. Pizza was floppy and toppings were basically raw. My friend and I came here for dinner on a Thursday evening and we had such a good meal. It was my first time here and I knew I always wanted to come here because this seems to be the only restaurant in Cincinnati that I can find on Yelp that does legit carbonara. Unfortunately carbonara is currently not on their menu but I'm sure it'll come back during a different season. Anywho I do recommend getting a reservation here because it seems as though they are pretty busy and I can see why. So we ordered the fried calamari for our starter and it was so good. You can tell that the calamari was top-notch fresh. When it's chewy, you know that stuff is frozen and old. The calamari here is a high ingredient for sure. Also the dipping sauce was amazing. We also ordered a side of sprouts and that was amazing. They roasted these perfectly and were very generous on the parmesan. I ordered the garganelli tartufati which is pasta with truffle pate and cream. I definitely wanted to try this because I do love truffle and really wanted to try something different. This was amazing. I ate the entire thing. It was very rich but not overpowering where I couldn't complete the dish. The pasta was cooked perfect and the creaminess of the truffle pate had such good smooth texture. My friend ordered the bolognese and that pasta was also cooked perfectly and the flavor of the Bolognese sauce was really good. Lastly for dessert we ordered the sorpresa which was a chocolate cake topped with vanilla gelato covered in a chocolate dome. And the waiter comes and pours hot caramel sauce on the dome so it can melt. It is quite a show and not only the show, it was really delicious. Super rich, it was a nice way to end the dinner. Ok, let's talk about this. I was SO excited to finally try this place so I had placed really high expectations on the food. First impression of the place is that it seemed far more casual than I had imagined. I pictured it to be a more "elegant" restaurant, but that still didn't stop me from expecting a lot from the food. The service was great, our waitress was really friendly and she did an awesome job. We got a bottle of wine, then as an appetizer ordered the mussels and clams. They were really good, but I'll knock them off some points because they literally gave us two ends of a bread and it was stale. We had to order for more bread because we barely got anything. Then we ordered the truffle pappardelle and the lobster with truffle mushroom risotto. I was so disappointed and I wish I could be saying something completely different. For starters, the lobster tasted good but but was pretty stiff to cut. Unfortunately, the risotto was undercooked. It wasn't al dente, and it lacked of so much flavor. It needed more salt, as well as the whole mantecatura process which is once the risotto rice is cooked, you add butter and good parmigiano reggiano to create that creamy texture. The risotto didn't really taste like anything, especially not like truffle. The truffle pappardelle was cold and also lacked of so much flavor. You couldn't taste truffle, and the fact it was cold with barely any flavor in the sauce was just sad. Overall, I am disappointed with the food. I was so excited to try this place, and the food turned out to be pretty underwhelming. I find it hard to have a good reason to wanting to go back to this place for food. read more

A very nice, clean, and quiet restaurant where meeting friends is a welcome event. Costs are high, it cost the two of us $88 with one drink, splitting a salad and then two chicken dinners which consisted of a flattened fried chicken breast on top of a very small type of side salad. Decided to come back after a year and unfortunately it was a big disappointment. We sat at the bar and the service was extremely dysfunctional to the point of having to ask if we could place a drink order. Finally got menus waited another 10 minutes and had to ask if we can place food orders. Then had to ask for utensils and napkins. BUT Here's where it gets good. They actually charge $12 for bread and butter! Usually a free staple of any good Italian restaurant! Okay it must be amazing at that price right?? Nope it was literally just a loaf of warm focaccia served with butter and oil. We should have left right there. How about a small side salad for $17?!The $26 Bolognese dish came and it was so salty I could only eat a small portion. You want a pizza? $25- $26. These are Las Vegas prices in little Loveland Ohio. This might explain why the place was half full on a Friday night. Rodi is out of touch with the restaurant consumer and it's really too bad. It was once a very good restaurant with fair prices and now it's a complete money grab with so-so food. So many better options for Italian or other food in the area. My husband & I dined at Rodi on a date night where we had to have three different courses from three different places. Rodi was our second stop for entrees & it was so hard not to have dessert here too! My husband enjoyed a glass of Cabernet while I had Moscato, & both were very good. He was going to order the lasagna, but they had run out & he decided to go with the bolognese, made with rigatoni, tomato, & beef ragu. The flavors were savory & delicious, a perfect meal for a chilly night. I had the sweet potato gnocchi, made with brown butter-sage, grana padano, & pea tendrils. When I tell you this was the most pillowy gnocchi I've ever had - my goodness. Absolutely phenomenal. The flavors went so well together. We live in the area and had heard great things about the restaurant so we were excited to give it a try. First thing we were not expecting were the prices. This is not a cheap meal. My wife and I had two basic pasta dishes, a small salad and the cheapest wine they had on the menu and it cost $130. The food was very good. The homemade pasta and sauce are very tasty, however, if you're coming in hungry, you're going to need to buy two meals. In all of my adult years, including living in Europe and traveling through Italy, have I ever had such a small portion of food coming from an adult menu. They did not even include any bread for the table and the Caesar salad we were told was "sharable" was $17 and was a normal single portion. The other thing to note is the ambiance. It is essentially one single, open room with no dividers, no ceiling, no artwork. It's bare. The biggest issue is that all of these things combine for a very noisy environment. I loved my whole experience, however, I will probably request to not sit next to the bathroom. Unfortunately, the "bathroom cleanser" scent kept wafting towards our table and made for an unpleasant nose experience. First, the restaurant's ambiance did not really match the prices and was confusing. Started with the baked brie. The jam on it was great, the rest was very average. I got the lasagna and it was very disappointing for $30... it lacked flavor in every aspect. The sauce was very below average and disappointing. Meat was more of the same. My wife got the short rib which was pretty good but not cohesive. Came for a birthday celebration and won't be back. There are much better Italian restaurants in the area. Rodi came on high recommendations but underperformed, and for the price left us very disappointed wasteful of an evening out. The saving grace was the fig old fashion. Delicious! It's so good. Really great modern approach to Italian with unique ingredients you don't find typically, as they're embracing Sicilian flavors and old family recipes. We have been here several times, and service is definitely hit or miss. Checking in for your reservation is frequently wild - they often seem totally bewildered you're, you know, arriving for the food appointment you mutually scheduled. We have had some outright terrible service as well, BUT.... If you can put service issues aside, you're there for the amazing food and hustling, bustling atmosphere. Favorites: Caesar salads, fig old fashioned, nice selection of wines, lasagna, cortado, and a mushroom pate-like appetizer! In the summer, try to snag a seat on the patio next to the Little Miami flowing through town. While you wait for your table, bounce across the street to another local joint, Hops and Berry, for free popcorn and pour your own wine/cocktails/beer by the ounce. Everyone wins.
