This is my go-to spot for a cold brew with cloud cream on it. I'm there almost every morning and always greeted with a smile from the employees. They're super friendly and knowledgeable when it comes to any coffee related questions that you might have. The manager that I usually see, Mel, is absolutely awesome and a pleasure to chat with. The space itself is pretty large, so there is generally somewhere to sit. They do have an outdoor area as well, it's a lovely little deck with some tables and chairs that nicely arranged. If you're in Westwood, it definitely worth stopping by. They open at 7, but I often see people lining up before then! read more

i should've spotted a corporate slop coffee chain from a mile away and ran :/ alfred's is like... OKAY. nothing to rave about. it's there when you wanna feel superior over ur friends getting starbucks across the street. the price? ALOT LMFAO. my tiny drink (smallest size btw) cost TEN DOLLARS. this gives me a love/hate relationship with LA and their coffee scene because that is ridiculous. all because i asked for an extra shot of matcha... a DOLLAR. i'm from the IE and no drink costs more than 8 bucks with adjustments, which is still a lot but at least they're small businesses. i heard from my friend other Alfred's have much greener matches, because even with my extra shot it wasn't as potent. nonetheless, the peach syrup was absolutely delicious and not artificial at all.... BUT THERE WASNT ENOUGH. i had to ask for extra syrup when my friend's same order was initially sweeter. the coconut foam was yummy too, but it's just the lack of consistency and attention to detail that cannot justify the really STEEP price of this place. any other small-business would weigh out the matcha, syrups, make sure the price is reasonable (i think), and so forth. i don't think i'll be back to alfred's westwood location, but if the desire for fruity milk and the slightest bit of matcha flavor hits me, maybe another location would do... I had a chance to visit on a Tuesday morning around 9am. The space was bigger than I expected! There were a few people working on their laptops and others hanging out when I stopped by. They had a Disney playlist playing which gave it a fun vibe. I placed my order through the app and it was ready by the time I arrived. I ordered an iced matcha latte with honey and it was so good! This is a really nice spot to study or catch up with someone. The inside is huge with plenty of seating. I parked in the garage, but there's also plenty of metered street parking around. I ordered the 12oz seasonal Ded Cool matcha latte and a 12oz Cloud Espresso Cream, and my total was about $15. In my opinion, it's a little pricey for the size, but the drinks actually tasted pretty good. Before mixing, the matcha had a really nice flavor, and after mixing, the blueberry lavender flavor blended really well with it. I also liked that it wasn't overly sweet even with the flavors. The Cloud Espresso Cream was also really good, and the cream top made it even better. Service was fast, the drinks were good, and the space is great if you want somewhere to sit for a while. One of the largest Alfred locations I've ever been to... inside is super cute. Lots of tables to study/ hang out/ catch up, etc. Friendly staff. You get greeted right away with the warmest welcome. First thing to know was that the service is mean, the workers there are not friendly and it seems to be a reoccurring theme with the other reviews. we didn't even get asked what size we wanted for the cloud Macha and the person who took our order, was blatantly on her phone, which seemed quite disrespectful. The Matcha cloud was super salty and it tasted more of a creamy drink rather than Matcha itself. The strawberry Matcha was alright however, so I give it a 6.9 out of 10. for the service and cloud Matcha, I rate it a solid, 3 out of 10. the ambiance was chill, pretty small area and it was minimalistic and modern. read more

Great first time at Alfred's! Alfred's is located in Westwood village and from the front would seem like an unassuming shop. When you enter though, the coffee shop is lively and the decor lovely. I love the greenery on the walls and the decorations. There's also ample seating and the shop can be used for a great place to study or meet up with friends. I ordered the chai latte iced which tasted amazing. I appreciated how they had different milks to choose from which from the view, seems like the shop makes themselves. They have a selection of drinks/ juices by the door that you can pick. They have indoor seating area. When I visited it was busy people were sitting and some were standing waiting for their orders. I ordered a lavender latte, it was good. I really enjoyed my drink. Cashier was nice and helpful and he was patient with the customers. Not making them rush while ordering. I went here with a friend to try the iced matcha latte and was not disappointed. The matcha was smooth and earthy and fairly priced. I like that they have three sizes to choose from. I personally got a small but could've definitely gone for a larger one. The cloud foam on top was 75 cents extra which is pretty good compared to the $1.00 or $1.25 extra charge I've seen at other coffee places. Also they don't charge extra for oat milk! The only thing that got me was that the drink came unsweetened, which wasn't made clear to me at the counter although I definitely should have asked. Located in the vicinity of UCLA this place is packed with students so good luck finding a place to sit. The staff were friendly and got our orders out pretty fast. The burrito in my opinion wasn't worth it for the price but the hot sauce that came with it was great. This is definitely one of the better coffee spots in the area if you're looking for more of a gourmet coffee experience. The interior is gorgeous honestly, that alone makes up the majority of the stars in this review. It's definitely a vibe, and I get why people come here for the aesthetic. That being said, the actual coffee isn't quite hitting the mark for me, especially at this price point. I've ordered from here probably over twenty times (thanks to meetings and lectures nearby), so I've given it a fair shot. While I appreciate that they make their drinks from scratch and have a unique method, the flavor just hasn't impressed me. Not to mention, it's not the most warm or friendly environment when it comes to staff interaction. There have been times I've walked up to order and was met with a blank stare. I'm not expecting anyone to be fake, but a simple hello would go a long way.. definitely gives off a very posh/standoffish feel. That said, it's still the best option in this area, mostly because the surrounding coffee spots tend to be even more mediocre in terms of quality. But if I had a choice to go elsewhere in a different neighborhood, I probably would. If you're looking to study, chill, or take some cute pics, this is 100% the place to be. I know it's basic but I love Alfred!! Their coffee is delicious and I love their options. This past time I got the protein latte with half almond and half oat milk. Really good and I love that they have that option. Their vanilla latte is a classic of course. As for food, they've started carrying wake and late breakfast burritos and they are DELICIOUS. The signage of the salted maple latte drew me in and I knew I had to try it! It was busy when I arrived and there wasn't any seating. It was very noisy and hard to hear. I didn't feel as relaxed here as I do at other Alfred's. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my drink and I was so happy they had a wide selection of non dairy milk options. It was very tasty and well balanced. I also had the iced alfred vanilla latte, which was on the sweeter end for sure but iI enjoyed it since it had a different taste compared to the other vanilla lattes. Ambiance (and Study Value): Not a lot of outlets in this location, so I would not recommend coming if your device needs to charge. The tables are also somewhat small and in my opinion only can fit one person in terms of devices- You can fit two laptops on the table, but they will be touching each other and there will be no writing space! They play pop music, but it's energetic and there is a cozy vibe regardless. I was able to find a table since I came during a rainy day, but this place is usually packed with students. Lots of plants indoor, which was a plus! Service: Located at a street corner, and had lots of different places nearby, such as the hammer museum. Very walkable since near UCLA. Staff was friendly with drink recommendations, coffee came out fast, and the entire area was very clean. I went to Alfred's earlier today and ordered the same drink I always get, but asked for a full pump of syrup instead of a half. When I got the drink, it tasted like there was no syrup at all. I came back and politely asked if it could be remade. One of the workers was understanding and said it was no problem. Then Maddy came over and said, "I remember making your drink and I made it correctly," and started explaining the ingredients to me as if I don't get it regularly. I told her I know how it's made and that there was definitely no syrup since I'm very sensitive to sweetness. She kept arguing with me instead of just remaking it, so I asked for someone else to make it. As I walked away, I heard her whisper something to her coworker instead of just saying it out loud. Alfred was such a pleasant surprise for me! I had a virtual meeting and was in search of a coffee shop with WiFi available nearby. They had seating available and the reviews mentioned free WiFi, so I stopped by. It's a relaxed shop with both indoor and outdoor seating, so I found myself a spot outside. I'm not much of a coffee person, but they had a jasmine yuzu melon iced tea that sounded refreshing for the season. I had a reusable bottle that the kind staff let me use for my drink, although their ice cubes were too large to fit until they melted a little bit. I was settled into my seat for my meeting in no time. The drink was definitely refreshing and not overly sweet. The flavors went well together and I could taste each flavor too. I wish Alfred had more tea drinks considering how good this one was, but I suppose they're called Alfred Coffee for a reason. Overall, it's a convenient coffee shop with a great tea drink. I'm not sure I'll be back because I don't drink much coffee outside of the occasional coffee chat hangout, but I'll be there if they release another tea drink in the future. read more

My trip to LA consisted of beach hopping and trying all the matcha cafes. Alfred was on my list... specifically the Malibu location. But it was closed when I got to Malibu. Anyways, with all the driving I spotted an Alfred by chance and I don't remember why we were in Westwood but I had to stop in. The exterior was stunning, tall white brink shop. The inside was just as gorgeous and very spacious. No public restroom like almost all of Los Angeles... yeah that needs to change lol. Anyways, I got an iced vanilla matcha latte with oat milk. Fast, friendly service and the inside is so cute. I visited in summer when it wasn't packed full of UCLA students so it was a chill, quiet atmosphere inside that I would definitely sit for a while in. The inside is well decorated and air conditioned. I got a normal vanilla latte with nonfat milk ($7). Slightly on the expensive side and the coffee was very strong. The reason I gave 4 stars not 5 is that the coffee was very good (this latte is strong and not super sweet). But they didn't mix it. The cap was hard to mix in and the syrup was all at the bottom. Starbucks does it like this for the caramel macchiato, but the milk is mixed so you still get sweetness. All of the syrup pooled at the bottom which despite vigorous mixing and swirling made for a very strong latte and then halfway through a slightly too sweet latte. Their vanilla syrup was good, nice flavor and not fake tasting. I would go again, but it's not the best latte I've ever had. read more

There's only one person who knows what she's doing and hustles to get orders out. She has red hair and they told me she's the manager. Every time I'm in there she's trying to educate the staff on servicing the walk-in customers making sure they're doing the drinks in order. The service still continues to decline. I've had to wait over 20 minutes while they're putting out drinks for people who came in significantly later than me because there's no semblance of order and they just make whatever drink they want. I literally watch my cup sitting there while people who came in 15 min after me have grabbed their drinks and go. Will not continue to frequent this location. I always order ahead unless they turn it off during busy times. At least apologize for the oversight don't tell customers everyone's new and we're short so it is what it is. read more
