My man and I are hiking here every other weekend at least. The dog loves it. We recently did the Full Moon Hike that is put on by the Rangers. The kids tagged along. Its free and one of the few times you're allowed on the Mt. during the night. The kids had a wonderful time meandering around in the dark. It was fun to be out of our element with flashlights. The moon was beautiful. The only negative is ticks. We went hiking on Thanksgiving morning with our dog and proceeded to pull seven ticks off our dog. The most yet. Wear bug spray and make sure that your dog is properly protected. Morning, noon or night this is a great hike to take.

Just when you need it there is a picnic table and a choice- keep climbing the hot wide road or take the nature trail through the blue oaks. Obviously the nature trail was our choice and it was the right one!!! Narrow trail and part shady;) Get to the top. Take in the views of this place we call home and then.... It's all down! 13% grade! Not my favorite walk but it is close to home and will certainly get your heart pumping! Dog friendly.

I randomly came across the John Muir National Historic Site, and I'm so glad I did!…read more You first enter through the visitor center, where I happened to overhear a gentleman at the desk telling another guest about the property and a tour happening at 11am. This was on a random Thursday, and luckily, it was 10:55am! So naturally, I decided to stick around for the tour lol. You walk up a short path to John Muir's house, where a docent leads a quick tour that's about 20-25 minutes. Afterward, you're free to explore the rest of the house, including the second and third floors, at your own pace. I especially enjoyed reading about the lives of John Muir's in-laws, wife, and daughters, which gave the house a more personal feel. The top-floor bell tower was a fun surprise -- you can actually ring the bell! I also enjoyed walking around the rest of the property and seeing all the different fruit trees that were planted there. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit. It's always cool stumbling across a local historic site and getting to learn a little more about the history of the area. Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby!

Rainier National Park in 1899 and Grand Canyon National Park in 1919. His home became John Muir National Historic Site in 1964. Much of the exhibits within the home discusses his personal life and achievements. He was the eldest of 8 children, immigrated to the U.S. in 1849, and he married Louie Wanda Strentzel in 1880. He and his wife had 2 daughters named Wanda and Helen. In his lifetime, he has written 300 articles and 10 books, which can be purchased online and at Muir Woods National Monument and Bear Valley Visitor's Center. The inside was very spacious it had two bathrooms and a full kitchen along with a bar a stage and a dance floor, there was so much room which was a great thing cause we have a huge family. Table and chair storage holders are big and cumbersome and can't be camouflaged during your event. Bathrooms were slightly dated but brightly lit. There is not much you can do about it if you live there and so you start feeling like you are being taxed on everything, especially if you commute in for work. As of January 1st, 2026, it costs $8.50 to cross the bridge and there are several bridges in the bay area, so it feels that you get price gauged every time you cross any of them and not worth it. The amount of bridges in the bay area and the amount of price gauging is ridiculous. A series of 50-cent annual increases are in effect from 2026 to 2030 so you will continuously have to pay more year after year. The tolls are going up way beyond the rate of inflation and will continue to until 2030 and then they will have another tactic to increase it further. It's expected to be $10.50 to cross the bridge in 2030.

She was very nice and took down my info then asked me to hold. A new person, Jennifer, came on the line and took over where the previous person left off. She already had up my records and was ready to work. While it's impossible to pinpoint the reason that I had to call in the first place, Jennifer explained my steps from there and I gathered what she told me then emailed her. I received an email back from her within an hour or so, saying she will review my documentation and come back to me with anything else needed. Both of the people I talked to were very nice. Both of the people I talked to were extremely competent. I was very happy with the interaction and in this day and age where I usually need to talk to a robot first, I was so pleased to talk to real people!
