Now my daughter needs to have 2 wisdom teeth removed, so we decided to come back to see Dr. Goo for the procedure. This is not our usual dentist but Dr. Goo was in network for our insurance. We've been here since 10:15am for an 10:30am appt. It is now 1:13pm. She just started her procedure. Terrible business practice to NOT inform your patients that you are running almost 3hrs behind. When we arrived at 10:15am (per their emajl to arrive 15min early), front desk didn't even mention they were behind schedule. At 10:45pm, I asked how much longer is the wait and they said they were running behind. They said there were TWO patients in front of my daughter. I asked why no one called to give us a heads up. Front desk said that we were supposed to call ahead to check?! That was never conveyed to us. And if that was a policy, it should be addressed in the reminder emails. I suggested that they should have a policy to inform patients going forward. Why should the burden be on the patient? Front desk girl tried to argue with me that they're not in charge of the automated emails but obviously that can be edited by the Company. We spent almost $1500 for this procedure. Around 11:35am, my daughter's classmate walked in for their 11:30am. Mom said she CALLED ahead and they told her to come in! Wtf?! I immediately told her we've been waiting for over an hour and they should probably go home and not waste time sitting here like us. This is completely ridiculous. read more

Dr. Jacqueline Ly was amazing. After not seeing a dentist for nearly 10 years, I finally decided to make an appointment here mostly because it was convenient. I'm so glad I did. The office is clean, the equipment seems modern and up to date, and the quality of care was excellent from start to finish. I ended up having all four of my wisdom teeth removed here, and Dr. Ly was incredible throughout the entire process. I was nervous, in pain, and honestly freaking out at times, but she took the time to see me multiple times after the procedure to check on my healing and make sure everything was progressing well. Her patience, professionalism, and genuine concern made a huge difference. I've never been a fan of doctors or dentists, but this experience completely changed my perspective. I was very disappointed with how this office handled my dental records. After my comprehensive X-rays were taken, I decided to get a second opinion from another dentist. I requested copies of my X-rays, but the office only sent them as a PDF with very small embedded images. The images were not only too small to evaluate properly, but some of them were also cropped, making it impossible to clearly see the tooth that needed treatment. My new dentist specifically requested the original digital X-ray files because the PDF was not sufficient for diagnostic purposes. When I contacted the office again, they insisted that their system could only provide a PDF and said they could not send the original digital images or transfer them directly to my new dentist. As a result, I had to repeat the X-rays at the new office. Unfortunately, my insurance did not cover the additional imaging, so I had to pay out of pocket. More importantly, I was exposed to unnecessary additional radiation that could have been avoided if my original X-rays had been provided in a usable format. I understand that every office has its own procedures, but patients should be able to obtain their dental records in a format that allows another provider to continue their care. This experience resulted in unnecessary costs, delays in treatment, and avoidable repeat X-rays. I hope they improve their record-sharing process so future patients don't have to go through the same experience. read more

My initial visit was a pleasant experience, and the staff and assistants were all incredibly kind and professional. Unfortunately, my experience with the DENTIST changed significantly once I expressed concerns about my crown. The process took nearly two months to complete, and when the final crown was placed, I was unhappy with the color. Instead of working with me to find a solution, I felt dismissed and was spoken to in a very rude and unprofessional manner. The dentist told me that the shade I chose would never have matched, even though I relied on the office's guidance during the process. She didn't bother to look into it. She also referred to me as "difficult," which I found inappropriate and disrespectful. This treatment was especially disappointing because I paid for the procedure upfront and simply wanted a crown that I was happy with. I wasn't asking for anything for free--I was asking for the quality and outcome I paid for. While I truly appreciate the kindness of the staff, my interaction with the dentist left me feeling disrespected and she didn't show up at the end she just gave attitude and left. It's been a few months and multiple visits now and I can honestly say, don't be afraid of the dentist guys! It's better to just take care of any issues now before it gets worse. The team here is the sweetest and so welcoming right when you walk in - they're patient and so thoughtful. I had my very first root canal done and I was nervous AF but I honestly did not feel a thing. Dr. Li (endodontist) and Dr. Ly are both fantastic and I think root canals do sound horrific but when I had it done, it was quicker than I thought and pain free. Be aware! Please, before you get any work done, get a preauthorization from your insurance, otherwise they will double charge you. They will say your insurance only covers a small percentage and then charge you for the work and then charge the insurance for the work. This means they are getting double paid. I was lucky to have caught it and got my money returned but I will never return here. I will find an honest business. As for the dentist, she will not ask you if you want fluoride, she will just start giving it to you and then tell you she disagrees if you don't want it. If fluoride worked I would not have had cavities as a kid when every appointment I got fluoride and still would have a cavity every visit. The dentist also gave me injections to numb me to prep my tooth for a root canal, my whole gum was shredded by her. I have never had a shredded gum like this before from injections. The root canal specialist didn't shred my gums like her. I switched from Dentist of South Pasadena and they seem to overcharge or double charge as well, since they are connected (didn't realize until I already switched). Again, please get a preauthorization before getting any work done. Call your insurance first, do not believe what they tell you the price is without talking with your insurance. read more

I visited this office because of the high ratings and proximity to my home. I believe the front desk staff and person who did my x-rays were very kind. It was a very clean facility. Dr. Self explained that she believed my teeth needed a deeper cleaning than what my insurance covered. I did not want to pay any out-of-pocket expenses for my visit. Here's what I really didn't like... After declining the additional service, I spoke to TWO different people in the office who tried to convince me that I needed this service. It felt very high-pressured. I did not like this. When Dr. Self came back in, it felt as if the mood had changed. She continued to insist that I needed this treatment and that all other treatments (more frequent cleanings, antibiotics) were insufficient. The reason I decided to give this place two stars instead of one is mainly because of Tusey (I don't know if that's the proper spelling, I'm sorry). Switch dentist because I did not like my last one due to lack of care and service. Found AMD via my provider website so I decided to give it a try. Theyre located in the busiest shopping center in Alhambra with Sprouts and Mikomi. Parking can be a hassle during peak hours since it is shared with MANY other busy restaurants/shops. Called in to schedule my appointment but was not aware that all my new patient forms were digital and was sent via an app called MyChart. Kept receiving text messages to sign up but was not advised by the receptionist that it was from their office so I kept unsubscribing and opting out. Office is extremely clean and modern. It's a lot bigger than expected with some pretty cool technology. Service was fast and thorough. Appreciate everyone for explaining to me the process and educating me on the services they supply. Dr Self was extremely nice and appreciate her direct recommendations. I've had sensitivity and occasional pain on my upper right quadrant and my last dentist was not able to tell me why other than take an ibuprofen and youll be fine since I was well over 25 and they said my wisdoms will not bother me longterm. Dr Self was able to identify my issue which was my wisdom that had a huge cavity. Educated me on the benefits of removing my wisdoms (I still have all 4) and alleviated my anxiety for wisdom removal suggesting it being under anesthesia. Office was able to explain all of my charges and discuss their payment plans for services my insurance did not cover before starting any procedure. Only shock was paying $290 for a cleaning but it included their laser treatment which killed bacteria below the gumline. Sure, why not. I love modern medicine if it will benefit me. Left the office scheduling my surgery to get all 4 of my wisdom removed and just anxious to get them done. Checkout was seamless and the receptionist explained it was already prescheduled for 6 months and that appointments can be rescheduled via the MyChart app. The office considerably had some chapstick at the checkout as well which was a nice complementary gift. I was overcharged hundreds of dollars at Alhambra Modern Dentistry and ended up paying out of pocket for services that were falsely presented as being covered by my insurance. Do not go here. At the office I was presented a pricing plan for four services: an exam, a cleaning, and two fillings. I asked if they were covered by my insurance and the staff told me that they were. Only when checking with my insurance did I see that I was billed for hundreds of dollars more than what I should have paid. I was also charged for six services, which included antibacterial procedures not covered by insurance. These procedures were not mentioned as being separate from the four prices presented to me. So, when the staff began the procedures I assumed it was part of the cleaning. Had I known there were additional charges not covered by insurance, I would have refused the services. This was a terrible experience, and I would recommend that you stay away from Alhambra Modern Dentistry. After contacting my insurance I eventually received a partial refund for the overcharge, but the refund did not cover the procedures that were falsely presented as covered. If you do have to go here, check before every procedure to make sure whatever they are doing is covered by your insurance. Also make sure to get an itemized receipt even if they do not want to give one to you so it is easier to check with insurance. read more
