Long overdue review! I really like Dr. Ho and Dr. Kim and hygienist Jaime. I've been going to PVD since moving to Alhambra in 2022, and trust them fully with my oral health and smile. Including getting Invisalign after years of not wearing my retainers. Choosing a dentist has always been hard for me because my dad is a semi-retired dentist in FL and nosy about my dental appointments, bless him. It's annoying, but he usually wants to hear from my dentists or learn what's happened - and he usually has opinions about their care plans and dental work when I see him for a cleaning around the holidays. Dr. Kim is amazing! She's pleasant, energetic, and personable. Dr. Ho was also patient and helpful. I had a cracked tooth and was extremely nervous since I never needed dental work besides fillings and wisdom teeth removal. Dr. Kim was extremely patient in explaining the process and answering questions, and was absolutely fine with me getting 2nd opinion with Dr. Ho. I ended up with a crown but no root canal, and the toothache went away after the crown was in. Also got the night guard to prevent grinding. The hygienist Joy is always nice and gentle as well. The front desk folks are always polite and followed up for all inquiries. This dental office is a well organized business with great prices even without dental insurance. Office visit with x-ray was $75. Night guard was $460. Porcelain crown without the build up was $1,000. I especially like Palm View Dental has female dentists and dental hygienist. They are more gental and attentive. I used to go to male dentists that would give me month-long jaw pain from opening my small mouth too wide for too long. No more pain since I began going to Palm View Dental. They send reminders before appointments which is very helpful. Highly recommended! read more

The doctor that I initially saw who gave excellent service is no longer here, so I have zero incentive to leave a good review. I called to schedule an appointment and to ask if my annual check up is covered by my insurance. I wanted to make sure because in my previous visit, I had to pay out of pocket. I was told that there was absolutely no way for them to confirm if I had to pay out of pocket. That I would have to figure it out through my insurance. My insurance informed me that if I scheduled an appointment with a certain doctor, I would be covered, so I decided to schedule an appointment with her. Fast forward to my appointment date, I'm seated in the chair and they're telling me I'll have to pay out of pocket. I asked them to explain to me what portion is and isn't covered. She froze and said she'll check. She didn't come back, instead the older dentist came in and abruptly said, hi so if you look on the computer, during your last visit , you paid out of pocket too. Yes, that was my understanding too. I don't need to look at your system. I was the one that had the pleasure of getting stuck with the bill. That's what I was trying to avoid this time. I told her that my insurance told me it would be covered, and she said, well, we don't have any control over that, and you were already aware the last time you came, that you were charged. To which I explained, I tried getting that information, how is it that your office does not know whether or not I'll be charged until I come for my appointment? She said that they can only know a day or two prior to my appointment as to whether or not I'll incur additional fees. Interesting, the receptionist didn't tell me that, and I'm sure they don't advertise it to their patients that we have the option to know. So... they do have the option to look it up. They just choose not to help you. Left an extremely sour taste in my mouth. They have no issues taking your money, and not taking into consideration the time people take off work to come here. I left without being serviced. Horrible customer service. Terrible bedside manner from the actual dentist. And to top it off, the receptionist called me a week later to see if I wanted to reschedule. I came here for years and once they brought in the 3D scanning machine and boiler room sales tactics for Invisalign when I'd come in for regular cleanings, I was fed up. I haven't seen the doctor who owns this office since my early days as a customer, Dr. Karen Ho. I always have a different doctor looking at my teeth. I got over it over time because it wasn't a big deal but it wasn't a positive for me to no longer see the doctor who I started with either. What I'll miss most is my hygienist who I had built a nice relationship with over the years and who did a stellar job. For cleanings, Palm View is great. I'd just prefer to have my own doctor who I see every time and to not have Invisalign shoved down my throat. I'll be moving on. read more

This place is so inconvenient. They charge 50 dollars if you can't make it to the appointment. Even if you have an emergency. They don't care. They don't even check your teeth very well. I had a crown that needed replacement for a while and weeks went by, check up after check up and they didn't replace it. I'm disappointed with our experience at this dental office. My husband went in for a routine annual cleaning, and somehow ended up being convinced to get Invisalign for $2,500. The justification was that his bite could lead to fractures and tooth breakage, but what raised red flags was why Invisalign was immediately recommended instead of traditional braces. It felt more like a money grab than a genuine concern for his dental health. To make matters worse, they mentioned it was the "last day" of an Invisalign promotion, pushing him to act quickly. They also offered 0% financing, but did not clearly explain that the financing was through a CareCredit Rewards Mastercard, which charges an astronomical 32.99% interest after the promotional period ends. This lack of transparency about the terms of the offer, combined with the high-interest rates, feels very predatory. luckily we canceled within the 5-day grace period and thankfully avoided the high interest rate, but we were still surprised when the credit card showed up a week later. This kind of shady sales practice left a bad taste in our mouths, and we won't be returning. read more

I drove over an hour to get my son's Invisalign treatment with Dr. Ho, because I know he'll be getting the best of care. Dr. Ho is very caring, compassionate, articulate, skilled, and very knowledgeable. She and her staff explained everything from the start of the process to the finish. Why we chose Invisalign over braces? 1) My son is involves in sport. An injury to the face would be worse with braces. 2) Dr. Ho explained that Invisalign moves only teeth that need to be moved unlike braces - which move everything. Thanks Dr. Ho and staff!! Following all COVID protocols and safety measures, I was very happy with my visit. Was here to get a annual cleaning and check up. First I was seated to wait for my hygienist, she explain the process of what she would be doing at the moment. First x-ray, then after the doctor will come and speak to me. Then after the cleaning process would start. Xrays were done, then after dentist came and talked to me about certain options that I can take for my teeth if I would like. It's disappointing that I have to leave this review. I've been with Palm View for several years because I like their facility and friendly staff very much. I even recommended a few friends to come here. However, my one bad experience here yesterday totally changed everything. I went for my teeth cleaning and the hygienist Cherry Kieu was assigned to me. She was friendly and nice, but then she was not good. Here is what I meant. As she proceeded to the cleaning I noticed that every time some one walked by in the hallway (we were in the first room), or someone said something she would look up, WHILE she had dental tools in her hands in my mouth. The whole time water was spilling out and she didn't even notice because she was so distracted. I had to wipe the water that was spilling out from my mouth myself. Then she noticed and only pretended to help me after I already wiped off the water. She uncarefully hit my tongue rather than my teeth once. Then as she was holding the hand scaler (the hook like tool), she was looking away from my mouth and she stabbed my upper lip. It bled. I demanded her to stop and asked for her manager or the boss. She apologized and I said why did you keep looking up while you're cleaning my teeth with tools in your hands? She said she was looking at my teeth x-ray. Why did she need to look at my x-ray 10-15 times and she's not even the dentist? She kept offering Vaseline to me and I kept asking for the doctor. Finally I said if I get infected with something, and you're not getting your boss here, you'll be solely liable for my injury. I supposed she got scared and reluctantly went to get the doctor. Dr. Ho came to apologize many times to me and explained to me the tools are sterilized. I expressed to her that if Cherry can't do what she was trained to do correctly then she shouldn't be serving patients. Her distraction is an incompetence to the job. Those tools obviously can incur injuries. Dr. Ho got another hygienist to finish the job. Here's another thing, in the past after my cleaning they'll schedule my next one. This time, the front people just looked at me and the second hygienist just showed me out. Seemed like they didn't even bother to have me back. I guess when they got a dissatisfied client due to a staff's ineptitude, and the client complained, they don't want to deal with it further in the future. With that, I meant to leave a one-star rating, but Dr. Ho was sincere in her apologies and truth was they had been great until they've got this one bad apple in their staff. They were good that I stayed with them even they were no longer within network of my insurance. But no more since they didn't even seem to care. Worse nightmare. Don't get invisalign here if you have over crowded teeth. This dentist seems like she don't know important of symmetry and teeth movement. You only wearing each aligner 4 days a week and eat with them on. I end up having to get a crown and redo the treatment because she makes me look like a monkey. I already told her in the consultation that I need 4 extractions and she think I don't need any. But than she will extract one teeth that knock off the midline. And the worse part is she should extract the teeth in the middle that is misshaped instead of the one that is good. The reason I picked her in the beginning is that she said she can do Yeaba (fang lke) teeth but she didn't do it right. She caused so much distress and unhappiness. She don't take time with her patient, no care. And you only get one refinement. It is a lie on here that it said "we won't stop until you are happy with your invisalin". And she didn't tell patient about shaving the teeth down or ask if it is okay to shave it, I like my big front teeth. The correct way to do it really is 4 teeth extractions. Highly recommend checking out Palm View Dental, I found them thru my dental insurance. Not going to lie, I fearrrrrr the dentist, like, I would just avoid going completely. But unfortunately, with an active baby girl, who would constantly headbutt me, my time has arrived. She headbutt me so hard that I had a toothache that was unbearable, I knew, it was time to get myself checked. I was able to call in and book an appt, it was very quick and easy, staff was very friendly and nice. They did have something 2 weeks out, but because due to the pain I was experiencing, I asked if they had a waitlist for any sooner one, and they were able to put me down. In less then 24 hours of booking my initial appt, they were able to get back to me and let me know that they had a sooner appt the following Monday, I went ahead and confirmed it. The day came, where I had to face my fear, my heart was pounding - it was LOUD, I could hear it. They do send text message reminders which I appreciate, it would ask for us to arrive 10 mins before our appt, check in via text when we are in the parking lot, and they will call us once they are ready. I waited less then 10 mins, and they called me in. Their lobby are was very clean and tidy, it was also empty, so you don't have to worry about there being too many people. I filled out the COVID questionnaire and then they lead me into a room. My hygienist was Cherry, she was very sweet, nice, friendly and super gently with me, she understood my fear and didn't make me feel bad. While cleaning my teeth she checked in with me a few times to make sure I was okay. Of course, with not going to the dentist for awhile, there were definitely work that needs to be done. After my cleaning, Dr. Karen Ho came in to explain to me what I needed to get done, assured me that everything will be okay. She made me feel very comfortable, and I feel like I am in good hands. I have been coming here for over 7 years and they never disappoint. This review is long overdue. Dr. Ho just did my two bottom fillings yesterday and she was explaining what she was doing each step of the way. She is very professional and I trust her guidance. She even gave me a mirror so I can see what she was talking about. The fact that she did this eased my nerves a bit and it made the process a lot easier. I'm glad she numbed me first because I am very sensitive to pain. The two fillings were quick, and the numbness went away after about 3 hours. I've been going there for many years and have seen 3 different doctors there. All of them are 10 stars. Dr. Ho really cares about her patients and has great aesthetic sense. She is through, professional and sincere. She is wiling to spent time educate patients. Dr. Yang is very friendly and careful, I feel relaxed when she treated me. The people who work with the doctors are all super nice and gentle as well. Besides the great doctors, it is the most organized dental office ever in terms of appoint, insurance claim, bill, ect. The doctors always see you on time; if insurance pays more than their original estimate they will contact you to refund you. I appreciate their front desk staff, especially Cathy, I love her. She is super smart and sympatheic, she understands patients' stress and frustration with problematic teeth, and always willing to go the extra mile to help. Even though we've moved out of the area, we still make the drive back to Alhambra for our twice yearly teeth cleanings. For the past few years we've had Cherry as our hygienist who is awesome. She's always super friendly and asks about my kids and how they're doing. Her work is superb and she does a great job cleaning my teeth. During my cleaning today i could feel my lips getting dry and she immediately offered and applied Vaseline to help with the discomfort. Such great bedside manner. I've been a patient of Dr. Ho's for over ten years from when she was at her previous location, when she used to do the cleanings herself! I commend Dr. Ho for her entrepreneurial spirit and expanding her business but I am really disappointed by the quality of care that I have received here over the years. Overall, it feels like the firm has valued efficiency and growth over quality care for their patients. The final straw for me though, was my last visit here on a weekday afternoon when they wasted 30-45 minutes of my time trying to sell me Invisalign. This was downright disrespectful, especially when I'd declined an Invisalign pitch time after time for years now from Dr. Ho herself, the hygienists, and other staff. But to waste a good amount of my day, on a workday, under the guise of providing care and then to make me sit through a sales pitch is wrong. It was also very uncomfortable and I felt shamed by the lady who was trying to sell me Invisalign. I have to say though, if you only need a cleaning and generally don't have other dental issues, the hygienist who does my cleaning is really gentle and excellent. She always does a great job and is comparable (if not better!) to other cleanings that I've had. And, I've never had to wait more than 2-3 minutes to get started on my appointment. read more

I am actually quite disappointed in this dental office. They made claims to my dental insurance for services I never got, and don't need. I had previously gone in for an infection, and the doctor told me that I needed to get a deep cleaning. For my next appointment, they scheduled me for regular cleaning. I was confused since a regular cleaning was not what I had wanted (or needed). Nonetheless, the dental office made this claim along with other additional charges (like redundant x-rays) thus making me pay out of pocket for the service I actually need. Currently going through an appeal process with my insurance. This has been delaying the care that I need. I've been a patient at Palm View Dental since they were at the corner of Garfield & Valley (many years ago!). Dr. Karen Ho and the rest of the team are fantastic and take great care of all their patients. Today I made it through my first dental cleaning and exam since the lockdown. All patients are instructed to wait in our cars until our exam room is cleaned/disinfected, then they text or call you when they're ready for you to enter the office. Mask required. Everyone's temperature is taken, and we are asked to use hand sanitizer upon entry. All staff in masks, gowns, face shields, gloves. No ultrasonic cleaning machine used as it creates micro droplets, only manual descaling/plaque removal. Everyone is socially-distanced. I felt very safe. I saw Dr. Yang today, and she was very thorough and careful in my exam as well as kind and patient. Joy was my hygienist and my husband and I always ask for her because she is awesome. Palm View Dental takes great care of all their patients and it really shows! I highly recommend them if you are looking for a great dentist in the West SGV. read more

I am sorry to report that this office has really shifted focus from patient care to hard selling. The hard sales approach makes me feel unsafe and I question if services suggested are necessary. It's not a good feeling not to trust your doctor. When they make mistakes they do not correct them as promised. They push patients to write Yelp reviews which feels intimating when your service may be contingent on your review. Before the pandemic they were very much about patient care but now I feel like I'm at place that is just trying to continuously upsell. I was told that I would look "younger" if I invested in getting my teeth whitened. Really? This was after I was declining the service since I often drink red wine and whitening the teeth opens the pores for greater staining in the future. My wife and I have been coming to Palm View dental for over 5 years. Over the weekend, my wife's crown partially broke off and was unable to eat and was experiencing great discomfort. I contacted them on Monday and she was seen the following day. I'm so thankful to Dr. Ho and her professional staff for treating her on such a short notice, even during these unprecedented times of COVID-19. Dr. Ho was completely booked and yet she carved time out of her busy schedule for my wife. The treatment took about 2 hours and the procedure not only went smoothly but my wife didn't experience any pain whatsoever. Went for my first visit yesterday. As soon as I arrived, I called the number they posted and waited for them to let me know it was safe for me to enter. That didn't take long either as they called me right away. Once I got in, with a mask of course, I was asked to use the hand sanitizer and was led to chair. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and sweet! During my visit, I saw Cherry, the dental hygienist, who cleaned my teeth and thoroughly explained everything she found, as well as, possible work that I would need to do. She did an awesome job with my teeth cleaning! Afterwards, Dr. Jessie Yang came to see me and went a bit more in detail about Cherry's findings. I can sense that everyone's suggestions aren't just to "take my money" but to really care for me as their patient. By far the one of the best service dental office you will ever get. The best part is that they don't make you wait. Since covid the check in is in the parking lot with your phone.
