I have been going here for decades and have been more than happy. It took me a while to get used to the idea of Dr. Nonaka taking over after her father-in-law, the wonderful Hart Lee, retired. Most of the time I have just had cleanings (very good teeth), but I recently had a serious issue worth reviewing. Dr. Nonaka was very gentle physically and very straight to the point in her information. She explained the various approaches that could be taken and recommended the one that was the most conservative and the least expensive. I recommend her very highly. Came in for a cleaning today (after having to miss out on my dental cleanings for all of 2020/covid)! I've been going to Dr Hart Lee for the past 9 years After my first few visits, I told my husband to give Dr Lee a try... he's been his patient ever since. We both continue our regular checkups 2-3 times a year each and are very happy with Dr Lee and his staff. When I first came to Dr Lee, I had a few issues that weren't addressed properly by my previous dentists. Dr Lee took care of my issues and I am very happy with the reaults. Some of his original staff is no longer with the office, but his current staff is wonderful and informative. Since it had been over a year for me, I spent some time talking to the front desk about my insurance. The front desk lady was upfront with my out of pocket cost and what my insurance was going to cover. When it was time to leave, there were no surprises. Maria (the dental assistant) was professional and friendly. She also took my x-rays, she was gentle and efficient. Dr Lee reviewed my x-rays and did an exam...he let me know that since everything looked good and no cavities (wooooohooooo) he just needed to do a regular cleaning (yay! no deep cleaning needed). Please do not go to this dentist!! He is a scam. It was very painful during the dental work as well. I came in for a regular cleaning and check up. I have very moderately good teeth without pain/issues. However, Dr. Hart lee said I needed to pay extra for 2 deep cleaning sessions costing over $500 out of pocket even though I have insurance. I told him I do not want the deep cleaning and he refuses to continue to do a regular cleaning on me. Dr.Nonaka is literally the best! And very accommodating. She was able to squeeze my son in for same day visit and treatment when he was in pain. Not only that but she was able to recommend him to a great oral surgeon as well. My son is terrified of the dentist & needles, but she made him feel safe and comfortable. I've been trying to book an appointment for the past 3 months. There is always an issue with their roster. I asked if I need to reapply for the roster every month and they said no, that I should roll into the next month. Yet they will not book you an appointment, for the next month of you are calling the end of the previous month. I was happy with the service I was getting from Dr Lee , (teeth cleanings) but it appears that if he's not making money off of you then he asks you to go else where. He said because my insurance is a HMO and he's not making money from them and I had to reschedule an appoint a couple of times he was asking that I find another dentist. I was taken back by this because I've never had this happen to me before from any of my health providers. Maybe he should stop participating with Dental HMO's. read more

My dentist is Dr. Hart Lee. He does the cleanings himself. He is kind and explains everything in detail and I felt very welcomed. However, there are 2 things that happened that concerned me. 1. Dr. Hart Lee recommended that I get cleanings every 3 months instead of every 6 months because he was concerned about my receding gumline and deep pockets. That would be 4 cleanings a year, 2 covered by Metlife Safeguard HMO dental insurance, and 2 that are not covered. The 2 that are not covered would be $120 per cleaning. However, I looked at my insurance and they will reimburse 2 per 12 months, NOT 1 per 6 months. This means that I should not be charged on my second cleaning even though it is only 3 months after my first cleaning. However, when talking with the staff in the front, they told me this is just the way they charge when Dr. Lee prescribes a 3 month gap between your cleanings. First one free, second one $120, third one free, fourth one $120. They should not be taking cash from you personally until your "free" 2 cleanings a year are used. 2. I called the front desk to ask for a copy of my health records (dental xrays etc) and I was told it is $20. I asked if I had another dentist request these records if there would still be a $20 charge? She (the woman who answered my call) said yes. I told her, what if I come in person to just look at my records and take a copy or photos. She told me it was still $20. I have moved a lot in my adult life and changed medical providers, but I have never been charged for my own health records. I am very unsure about this practice. I looked in google and read that they can charge up to a "reasonable" price for your PHI but I'm not sure that $20 is reasonable. Also, I can't believe I can't even look at my own dental xrays at the front desk without being charged a $20 fee. $20 is not a lot of money, but it is unreasonable considering I have never encountered another dentist/doctor/optometrist that charges me to look at my own health records. I feel unsure about recommending a place like this to anyone else because I am unsure about their healthcare record keeping practices. However, I had a pleasant experience with Dr Lee as my dentist. I just want to feel like I am being treated fairly as a patient in the insurance system. read more

Lee and Nonaka took over the practice, they thoroughly went over my current condition and Dr. Nonaka explained what work needs to be done in the future. Now I mainly see Dr. Nonaka and she always makes me feel comfortable especially since my teeth are not in the best of conditions. She is very detailed in her explanations and makes sure that I understand and agree with all treatments. Very convenient to have Dr. Clarence Lee as part of the practice. I had my first consult with him recently and I felt an instant ease with him. I know I will be in great hands when he works on my gums. The whole office staff is very courteous. Maria or Patricia is always warm and welcoming. There are no surprise hidden fees as Lorraine is very well versed with insurance language. Dr. Lee's office has been providing dental care for me and my family since the 90's. Though the staff changed gradually over the years, the quality and friendliness has remained the same, which to me reflects the philosophy and practice of the doctors. They are very family-friendly and I feel cared for. For example, I felt something on my tooth right before my trip to Spain this past May. Dr. Lee made time for me, after hours I may add, to come to the clinic for a check up and ensured me that, though there were some sharp edges, there was no crack. This made me feel comfortable about leaving the country. Then, Dr. Nonaka took care of the tooth upon my return in August. The doctors and the staff are all professional and personable. I have been assigned to this dentist office since January 2022 without knowing that they schedule appointments based on monthly rosters. Therefore, the customer has to call the office once they receive their rosters which isn't immediately, then verify that their name is on the roster afterwards you are allowed to schedule an appointment based on their availability. Which I must point out is very limited and you are not guaranteed an appointment for that current month. So you already lost the first 2 weeks of the month waiting for the roaster and if nothing is available you now you have to wait for the following month, call again after they receive their rosters, verify that your name is on the roster and once again try to book an appointment. It took me 4 months to schedule a dental cleaning due to this process. I tired to schedule dental appointments for my dependents and we again have to wait an additional month because they no longer have appointments available. That will roll over to 7 months of waiting to take in my dependents in for a routine dental checkup/cleaning. I decided to request a referral in hopes to get my dependents to see a pediatric dentist since appointments seem to be never with this office. I was denied because the current assigned dentist must see the patient first. But how can they see the clients if they never have appointments available. SO FRUSTRATING!!!! Dr. Hart Lee is a careless and extremely UNPROFESSIONAL dentist! He does not care about his patients and has no problem letting them know that he doesn't. I informed him of my personal phobia of going to the Dentist. I am and have been terrified for years whenever I had to see the Dentist. During each visit, as he drilled away at my teeth, he complained about "more important things he could be doing right now." Each appointment I was there for over six hours listening to him complain about, "I could be at home with my family right now" or "let's hurry up and get this done. I have to get to Kinkos before they close." I have paid nearly $1,000 ($80 I just learned was just for a two minute "tutorial" session on how to floss and brush my teeth) with this Dentist and the way I treated yesterday baffled and shocked me! After four visits with him, yesterday was my VERY LAST APPOINTMENT! He was suppose to finish the Deep Cleaning procedure on the left side of my mouth as well as a filling. I called and spoke with the receptionist ahead of time informing her that I was running late; HOWEVER, I will still be there for my appointment. Well, when I arrived to the office she informed me that Dr. Lee refused to work on my teeth unless I pay HIS $75 late fee?! I was already paying another $400 (that I did not have) for this appointment and now he was charging me an extra fee because and I quote, "he's upset for having to wait for me. He could've been doing other things." I cried my eyes out because everyone in that office knew my financial situation and how badly I wanted to get this proedure done and over with! I asked to speak with Dr. Lee and he told the receptionist to inform that he will not speak with me or complete the treatment until I paid his PERSONAL late fee! While still crying and asking what am I do about the other side of my mouth that's infected? I was told to find another Dentist. Dr. Hart Lee is rude, unprofessional, inconsiderate and a scam artist! He over charged me, refused to complete his service and dismissed me without any remorse. If you are someone like me, someone who has a fear of the Denist derserves a professional, caring and HONEST Dentist with whom you can trust. Dr. Lee is NOT that person. By the way, during each visit, he kept begging me to give him a "great" review on Yelp as others have given him nothing but "bad" reviews. It made me concerned because I didn't know why he kept baggering me about giving him a "great" review so I've checked Yelp along with many other sites such as: Dr. Oogle; it appears Dr. Lee has a long reputation of this type of behavior. I wish I would've researched him before trusting him with my money as well as my dental health. I am now in the process of finding another Dentist who can finish my procedure. The worst dentist I ever encountered. No one pick up the phone in business hours and no response on voice messages for appointment. Give appointment abt 30 days from call, then email after email to get u get on their web page to complete ALL forms. This website only last abt 24 hrs. , if not they kill the website. Demands full completion of all forms on web (abt 5 sets of forms), must CONSENT AND EXECUTE all forms approving their terms and conditions before the appointment, otherwise, threaten to cancel the appointment. Upon doctor visit, receptionist asked for last doctor visit info such as x-rays, etc. They never did ask patient to bring anyway. So in the first visit, the receptionist refuse service. The point is they never ask patient to bring the x-rays for visit and the doctor personally come out from back office saying NO X-RAYS, "NO SERVICE". Despite all hazzles, new patient had fulfilled the office request to sign all forms before the 1st appointment. The form didn't ask for patient to bring x-rays from last doctor. Their attitude to refuse service is ridiculous and ill-mannered. Our personal information is in their file. So be aware!! I won't even give them one star if permitted. read more

I admit it. I have crappy dental insurance with my new employer. BUT, I do have insurance and in fact, I pay for it every single month. I didn't invest in PPO because I never really had issues with my teeth before (my mistake for assuming this) and so I thought all I needed were a few regular check ups. I went to see Hart Lee DDS after reading some "good" reviews on him. I did suspect that some of them were fake based on the fact that many of the reviewers only reviewed this dentist and had no other reviews or friends on Yelp. The office was close to my home too so I took a leap of faith and made an appointment. Surprisingly, making an appointment was fairly simple. They had plenty of availability in the morning (which surprised me a little) and the doctor's office was fairly clean and neat. However, even though I was the only one in the waiting room at 9am on a Friday, I still had to wait for 40 minutes. Strange... When the assistant took me in, we took some x-rays on a slightly outdated machine. The images didn't seem to be the clearest, but hey, if it works for the doctor, I have no complaints. Next, they sat me into the dentist chair. Hart came in and listened to my concerns (tooth sensitivity around one area) and proceeded to poke and prod around. He then informed me that I had the early stages of gum disease and said I needed a 2 part deep cleaning process. I asked him how much this might be, with insurance, and that's when he started to sound irritated. Basically, he told me that he didn't know and that the front office person would give me a breakdown of the costs. He also said that he didn't understand why I didn't want to get the process done since I needed it. I mentioned that I needed to consult my finances and work schedule. He then mentioned that I was there now on a Friday morning and so I firmly stated that I had taken the day off to take care of a few things, including this. Then I asked if he could still do a teeth cleaning in the meantime and he refused to do the procedure (which is covered by my insurance) and he REFUSED! This is when I was really irked by his attitude and the whole experience. Did I mention I was sitting in the dentist chair during this conversation and he was standing above me talking and not making any eye contact? Rude dude. Anyways, I still played nice since I figured this guy was still my designated dentist. I went to another room and some lady gave me a sheet with the breakdown of the costs. It was $525 for the treatments...with insurance! I said I had to think about it some more and wanted a second opinion anyways so I left. A few days later, I saw another dentist (my brother suggested Karen Ho DDS who is also highly reviewed on Yelp). She took the time and looked over my teeth and explained to me I did have some early stages of gum disease that needed to be treated but not necessarily immediately. She also quoted that it would only require one deep cleaning treatment that would cost $400 out of pocket (which is surprisingly less expensive than what Hart Lee quoted WITH insurance). She also mentioned that treatment with insurance is usually about $100 at her office. I asked why there was such a price difference between her quote and my HMO dentist's quote. She explained that many HMO dentists get paid a small amount for patients that are on their "list". Some dentists like Hart Lee may not want to do a cleaning or point out cavities because it actually costs them more money to do a procedure than what they get from the insurance company. Hence, many of the HMO dentist tend to push for more expensive treatments... Anyways, I asked a few more questions and requested to have my teeth cleaned. I had to pay for Dr. Ho's services out of pocket but the experience was infinitely better than the one I had at Dr. Lee's. Needless to say, I plan on switching dentists ASAP and electing PPO dental insurance as soon as I can so that I can have the my precious pearlies treated. read more
