When rescheduling my appointment due to my puppy not responding well to his neutering surgery (mind you, I didn't receive a reminder notification for this appointment either, so I had to call in and inquire to confirm anyway), the VERY RUDE receptionist gave me attitude and hung up before finishing the conversation. What makes it even worse is that my family has been going to this dental office since I was around ten years old, and I'm 27 now. I've stayed with this dentist due to familiarity, but this past year has come with a lot of various challenges which has caused me to 1) be behind on my visits, and 2) had to reschedule my appointments (insurance/FSA card issues, puppy being neutered or sick, etc). So while I do understand the frustration from me rescheduling again, it was HIGHLY unprofessional and I was disgusted by the behavior. I see from other reviews that a lot of others have experienced the same attitude from the receptionists. Upon being hung up on, I let them know I would not be returning and would be looking for a new dental office, despite having been loyal to them for so long. The doctor, however, is very competent! It saddens me that I will be departing from his services. They just need to hire new receptionists who are familiar with how to properly treat clients, despite their frustrations. read more

Beware of shady billing practices I had a terrible experience at Alhambra Garfield Dental. They charged me out of pocket for procedures that were fully covered by my insurance. When I brought this to their attention, they completely ignored me and stopped responding to follow-ups. Even worse, they recorded incorrect treatment in their records and billed me for work I never received -- clearly so they could double dip by charging both me and the insurance company. This kind of behavior is incredibly unethical and possibly fraudulent. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone. Be cautious if you go -- triple-check your insurance statements and request a full itemized bill. What they did to me was shady and wrong. read more

I was there this morning and the front desk worker, Jennifer needs better customer service skills. Instead of calling people by saying, "heyyy,hii, hello" she should address people by their name. Very unprofessional. Also, since she had told me I wasn't assigned to their office anymore, I called 15 minutes after leaving to ask when my last appointment was since the last time I was seen by the dentist there. She proceeded to tell me they can't see me there until I change my dentist and that she couldn't do that for me and that she doesn't know what happened in 2023. I never asked her to change the office for me and don't expect her to know what happened in 2023. I had a simple question. I guess they will be minus 3 patients because my kids and I will not be changing back to this office. read more

Rude, unprofessional, and highly invalidating. STAY FAR AWAY. The two receptionists at the front desk were very rude from the moment I checked in. They spoke to me like I was a child and I could tell one of them was judging me. When I saw the doctor, I told them about my concern of having a bump on my inner lip that looked like it was an oral mucolele. Her response? "Oh, did you see a doctor for it?"... I told her that I came to the dentist since I figured it was an oral issue. She just turned around and said in a very condescending tone, "ah yes, go to the dentist for this". Like ma'am, that is literally your job... They then do the x-rays. When the images come up, the doctor doesn't explain anything to me. It wasn't until the receptionist came to get me that I was told I have 8 cavities. I told the other receptionist that I need the charges to be explained to me, that the doctor didn't explain to me about my cavities. Her response? "Well, you could have asked them". We are patients, we should not be expected to know or read an x-ray image... the DOCTORS are there to explain our conditions to us. The cherry on top? They referred me to an out of network surgeon. The doctor and assistant were very good and easy to communicate with. But I needed a letter of absence and I could almost hear her complaining about writing it. She took 12 minutes to write a referral. Lazy and rude. Yelling at me like I am her child. My older child needs a referral but can't be seen without one. went to the dentist to do a removable partial denture. i have denltacare usa insurance. they use a code D5864, which is totally not covered under my insurance. i have to pay $800 for a one tooth denture. or pay $4400 for a one tooth bridge denture. i asked them if they can bill under a different code, which i have submitted by my previous ppo dentist office. they just say you want me to change the code???? you want me to change the code??? no, then you have to go to another dentist for that code. they are not patient oriented! My family and I come here and there has never been a bad experience. Getting my teeth cleaned every six months has always been efficient and the rest of the family is always satisfied with their results. Come here if you want your time wasted! Came for my appointment was brought into a room within a reasonable amount of time then was forgotten about for an hour. After repeated apologies for the wait I left when I heard him drilling on another patient as I figured he wouldn't be getting to me anytime soon. Never saw the dentist and now never will. Unprofessional and poorly ran. I feel sorry for the people I saw in the waiting room and can only imagine how long their wait will be. The office management at this location is the worst that I have ever experienced. The receptionist / office manager, Maria provides poor customer service and customer follow-through. Her billing practices are not honest nor are they fair. I pay monthly insurance premiums and expect the dental provider to work with my insurance provider to get me the most appropriate and reasonable costs for dental services. This office, however, tries to charge outrageous fees for dental services and does not actively work with the insurance providers. My recommendation is for you to check with your insurance company for your costs periodically. read more

The dentist seems friendly. He examined my kids quickly and fixed my daughter's filling quickly (in 10 minutes). My son didn't even get an x-ray but he claimed that he needed 4 fillings, which to me is whatever since he's the expert. I'm going to get a second opinion. We also saw a previous dentist not too long ago so I'm not sure why the difference in opinions. The receptionist is horrible (one of them). She has glasses I believe and is arrogant and lazy. My son has autism and is qualified for Medi-cal insurance as secondary insurance and we have DeltaCare Dental as our primary insurance. I told her that Medi-cal should be able to cover what wasn't covered by my primary insurance. She kept "lecturing" me about how it doesn't work that way since dentists are only allowed to take one insurance. Because of this, I had to consult my friends under the same circumstance as me and called the Medi-cal to confirm this. I then 3-way called the receptionist with Medi-cal and they confirmed that my son is eligible for coverage for whatever wasn't covered in my primary insurance. The receptionist then said she will apply to get authorization. I called back a few weeks later to see what the status was and she said that she hadn't heard back. I thanked her and said that I would call back again in a few weeks. I called back again to see what the status was and she gave the phone to someone else and back to square one. The person on the phone explained to me that they are only able to take one insurance and she claimed that DeltaCare is under Medi-cal. I told her that DeltaCare is my primary insurance. Anyway, the receptionists don't know what they are doing and just because they speak loudly, doesn't mean they are right. She didn't bother to update me or find out how the system works. I feel like they discriminated against my son because of his disability even though they claimed to work well with people with disabilities. They just wanted to bypass the insurance system and get the cash from me. I am finding other dentists that will better accommodate us. If you have kids with disability, please do not go here. I tried to get work done here, but found it impossible to get things scheduled. They would work to get pre-authorizations for everything, including a cleaning. But according to my insurance, they don't need to because they already have a breakdown of all costs provided by the insurance. This caused it to take 4 months to schedule a cleaning. I also both times they were getting pre-authorizations had to contact my insurance for help and have them call the dental office to provide guidance. I was planning to get a bunch of crowns done, but when I told them I wanted porcelain crowns because they are covered by my insurance, they quit returning my call. What a complete waste of six months. Honestly I think this is some kind of billing scheme to get more pay. I really liked the dentist but the office staff is impossible to work with. We wanted to get our teeth cleaned. Simple right?! Not so much here! In order to be seen here, we were told by the receptionist that we had to request to be seen here by our insurance. That took 2 weeks to get approved. When we got approved, we called in to make an appointment. Next available was 6 weeks away and their last appointment is at 3pm even though they close at 6pm. Then they tell us during that first appointment, they can only do our x rays. Then we'd have to return 3 weeks later to get our teeth cleaned. So from mid August, when we first called about being seen here, we would finally get our teeth cleaned in November?!!? read more

My HMO insurance changed and I had to find a new dentist. I came in for a regular check up and found out I had two cavities next to each other. The price was $90 and $100 to repair them, I declined and advised them I would come back later to have the work done. They don't use mercury and will only use epoxy enamel for the repairs - the reason for the cost out of pocket. read more

This place does not respect your time. I had an appointment for 2PM. They gave 3 other people the same or very close appointment times and had me waiting in the chair for over an hour and a half. I finally told them that I had another appointment to attend and they rushed through my cleaning. The dentist would also put his fingers in my mouth and then with that wet glove, use my forehead for grip when he needed it. Never had that happen at any other cleaning. read more

SO I went here back in 2019. It was an experience at Alhambra Garfield Dental (AGD) was met with panic and confusing from them; Despite having an appointment, it seemed like they were completely surprised that i was there. Lots of scrambling. Then I was rushed into an office with a cursory look over by the dentist after an xray. He then said i needed 3? root canals, had cavities, and had significant calculus. He didn't show me what he saw in a mirror or on the xrays. I had him write down what he claimed to see. I know i do not have significant calculus or any at all so I suspected something was wrong. I went to get a second and third opinion and ask AGD to transfer my xrays. I think at this point they realized i caught him in a lie and was getting a followup opinion. They sent over very blurry xrays of probably someone else's mouth near closing time so I couldn't call them back and get a correction. The xray they sent obviously had a fillings that weren't mine and had the wrong number of teeth. Maybe it wasn't a purposeful mistake, maybe they're just bad at keeping their records straight or labeling their xrays. For my second and third opinion; I obviously had no calculus, that was easy to tell. There were no need for root canals. It seems AGD simply said every one of my previous fillings needed to become root canals. The cavites they claimed didn't exist. My now regular dentist did find different cavities which they were able to point at in an xray and in my mouth. The cavities were pretty obvious. my guess for why the AGD dentist didn't immediately say something was because more work down the line means more money to them or they can't identify tea stains. So basically my visit at AGD got a diagnosis for non existent calculus, root canals that turned out were just filling replacements, fillings for teeth that were only stained, Cavities that were skipped for "reasons". I wonder if i would have gotten the same reception without insurance. At this point, i only use my insurance for the free cleaning at a different dentist. And go elsewhere for significant dental work. I've always had a distrust for dentist, i'm glad it paid off. I went to graduate school with a focus in neuro, alot of my classmates were predental and went into dentistry. I'm glad i had a background to catch their mistakes. I'm not sure if i have enough to report or who to report to. Or if i want to put in the effort. So just yelp for now. read more

Let me start with the Recepcionist "that thinks she is the owner" maybe she could run the office but she definitely needs some training by starting with internal customer service and not yelling across the office to the other employee whether a procedure is going to be done or not... ** YELPERS BEWARE - BAD DENTIST ** PROS: None... CONS: Tons... I know dentist appointment are not always pleasant, but this was possibly the WORST experience I ever had at a dentist office. Since I recently had a change in dental insurance, and this dentist was in the network and close to my workplace, I decide to give it a try. First of all, if I make an appointment at a certain time, I expect to be seen at a certain time- Not 75 minutes after my appointment time! Horrible dentist with a hard to understand accent. Told me I had 5 cavities and needed fillings, but I have to pay out of the pocket because they don't use the silver stuff. To keep it short, they wanted to pay tons of money out of pocket. I went for two (2) other second opinions, both confirmed that I did have cavities, but only TWO! It was interesting how three (3) of my cavities disappeared overnight... Definitely things that make you go HMMMM... Conclusion: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE if you don't like to get jibbed! read more

I love the Dentist. Very experienced, professional, and personable. However, I won't even mention Jose, unless he still works for them. Too bad if he is even allowed to work with patience anywhere. But all other Dental Care staff at the office have been wonderful. Just not... Jose. The Dentist handled my complaint over Jose very professionally, and respectfully. I felt cared for. Her voice sounds very familiar, but I don't even want to match her phone voice with her face in the Office, or even know her name. I just want her to correct her rude behavior. I believe a person sounding like her has behaved in this way two or three previous times, when I have tried to contact the Office. What is rude? To her, or maybe to you, the reader, this is not rude (the following), but to me it is not acceptable, and rude, and could be hurting their business practice. Their Dental Business. Here's the behavior: She talked over me to ask a question, and talked over me again (interrupting) to repeat her question. What I had to say was valid to me. Getting interrupted without explanation, this third or fourth time, was really offensive. I let her know that it was rude and that zI wouldn't have said anything if this had been the first or second time, which I didn't. Her too typical answer was... (Guess) You would probably guess right. Her answer was: "I'm sorry you feel that way." If she's the Dentists daughter or niece, or Granddaughter, I get it. Just keep the family together,. But, whatever the relationship, I really hope she can separate her personal feelings from her work, or at least act respectfully during a thirty second professional business transaction/communication. Good thing that she handled the rest of the conversation very properly. But without properly apologizing one can only expect more of the same in the future. I sense a pattern but hope to see a difference. I keep returning and opening my mouth (respectfully)in more ways than one , except to Jose, so I think I am definitely being fair. More than fair. I rated the Practice at 5 Stars, although the (Master/Diplomat) Dentist is at the top of his field, because a few bubbles just need to be worked out. Do not go to this office. They book out a month and a half... refuse to do regular cleanings say deep cleaning has to be done first which does not even make sense to do a regular cleaning AFTER a deep cleaning ... try to add extra stuff just to make more money and the staff and dentist are rude... Front desk staff is very nice. I brought my daughter here for a "cleaning" and was told she had 2 cavities and he claimed to have filled 1. I then took her to another dentist in extreme pain and found out he did not remove the entire cavity, he simply applied white filling on top to cover it. I got a second opinion elsewhere and I was told the same thing so I reported the incident to the Dental Board of CA and they concluded I was correct. This is definitely the best dental office I've ever been to. I've gone to 2 dental offices already this year because I couldn't find one that I liked and was comfortable with. First off, their staff is AMAZING. Everyone is very welcoming, professional, gentle, and sincere. Their priority is always the patients and making sure you are comfortable. When I was trying to schedule my 1st appt, I already knew this dental office was going to be a great one just by the professionalism. I wanted an appt that was either on Saturday or afternoons on weekends. The only available appt was on a weekday morning. I had no choice but to accept it. But the front office went above and beyond to remember me and the next day. They really do care about your busy work schedule and will do their best to accommodate. read more

First off let me start off by saying I have been to many Dentist in my life and I am very happy to finally find a place where my insurance is taken and there is no fees on top of my insurance. They are extremely friendly and honest. Never was I over charged or never once have I had an issue where my insurance was billed and I paid out of pocket like some places do. That alone is the best service to me. But Dr.Yazdani and his staff are very polite, professional, and explain everything you will be doing that day and what you will be charged for. Staff are nice, professional, courteous. They deserve a FIVE STAR, but I have to give one star because of the dentist work. Dentist where good and OK at first. After two to three years being there, when I would get some work done, they would tell me to change my plan from HMO to PPO. It felt like if you have ppo will do better work. On my last visit I noticed when I got home he grinded 4 teeth just to fix the one fake tooth. Now my other teeth look like i grind my teeth, and are uneven. Never went back went. Went to a new dentist. If they don't like people with HMO they shouldn't except people with HMO. Maybe by messing up other teeth, I would have to go keep going back to get work done. I agree with many of the other people that reviewed this place it is not a good dentist and here is why: -unreliable i went to get a check up they said i had 8 cavities i had a feeling that was not right and i refused to let them fill it up next time i came back the number of cavities had dropped in half! - parking is difficult to get into small parking lot -the dentist was very rough handling my mouth pushing around poking and pinching me - unsanitary the doctor put on gloves check my y mouth took the gloves off put them down on the table and reused them again! - they reuse sanitary bags the ones that new clean tools are supposed to come in and these bags are stained with yellow brownish splotches very disturbing and their tools seem very old as well read more

Came here to get my wisdom teeth taken out. The oral surgeon deserves a 5 star. He was nice and made me feel at ease during the procedure which took only 15 mins of pulling for 2 teeth. He was straight forward and honest. 1 star for the receptionist for being deceitful. Told me I needed a bone graft, asked me to pay upfront before getting my teeth taken out but I declined and said I'll pay after. After my wisdom teeth were done I asked the dentist if a bone graft was done he said no and was puzzled as to why I asked. I spoke to the receptionist right after telling her I didn't get a bone graft so I shouldn't have to pay $300 right? She spoke to the dentist outside not sure exactly what they were talking about. Whatever the case is, I saved myself $300 and paid $0 today. I think the oral surgeon goes to multiple locations and does not handle the pricing. I would definitely recommend him for wisdom teeth extraction.It is the reception that was being dishonest. For future customers, always ask questions and make sure everything lines up.
