I have been going to Alianos for my Brasilian waxing needs for over 8 years as I learned about the lovely mother (Lucia) daughter (Eliana) duo by word of mouth from a work colleague/friend when looking for a place near me with my move to the Bronx from Harlem..I used to goto the City, but I have not had better outcomes with waxing than I have had with Eliana or Lucia. I've gotten plenty of waxes, and as "painless" as they claim to be, I find them to be all very painful. So it's two days before my trip, and realized I had not gotten a wax. I called Aliano's and they were able to squeeze me in for a Brazilian. I was nervous, but hoped for the best. Lucia did my wax, and I know all the reviews say the same, but after I left I felt like I needed to call her daily and update her on my life. She makes you feel like you've known her since forever, and as painless as waxes can be, this one was the best. They're clean, quick, and just a great price! read more

Lucia and Eliana - you are angels!! During my first visit, I came here for my Brazilian wax and Lucia was great. She made me feel totally comfortable. She kept up a conversation with me to take my mind off of the process. Since then, I have been back and have been seen mostly by Eliana. Pain?? Let me tell you I have felt crazy pain every time I had a bikini wax. They do it so quickly that I barely felt anything!! Also, they warn you about the sensitive spots and give you tips on how to reduce the pain. I have been going back almost every month now since the first time I came here. Lucia and Eliana are both great, you can't go wrong with either one. Make sure you book an appointment in advance! Price for Brazilian Wax-- $45 for the first time $35 every time after.. $15 for underarm wax. I am definitely a new loyal customer of theirs. read more

Just a simple, neighborhood place. You could tell that most customers are frequents, because the Stylists were familiar and chatty with everyone there except for me and my bf (we were first-timers). If I could, I would give it 2.5 stars, but that's because of their warm and almost "motherly" service attitude. HOWEVER, I was more than dissatisfied with the results of my Brasiliana Keratin Hair Treatment. They profiled me and provided service based on their assumptions about Asian hair. They clearly didn't assess my individual situation. Here is the situation: I'm Asian, but my hair is NOT stereotypical Asian hair. It's wavy (and not the cute type), dry, frizzy, and thin. After washing my hair, the stylist sits me down and without even touching my hair, asks "why are you getting this done? Isn't your hair straight???" NO, it's NOT!! If my hair were straight and sleek, then I wouldn't be spending $200+ to get it done. So she kinda half-heartedly runs her fingers through my wet hair, then scantily sprays some of the Keratin treatment in my hair. Meanwhile, she's telling me "ohh you don't need alot...you don't need that much!" I'm paying $200+ here, at least assess the actual situation! I didn't wash my hair for 4 days (that's 2 days more than they instructed). On the 4th day, my hair was exactly the same as it was before the treatment. I've gotten the Keratin Treatment at another salon before, and I did NOT have this problem. The other salon used CONSIDERABLY more treatment than Aliano. Moral of the story: Aliano is stingy with their products, and clearly does not assess each individual's situation. read more

If I were reviewing this place solely on the friendliness of the stylists this place would be great. Friendly does mean that they're good at what they do. I came here because I bought a keratin treatment package that included a cut and blowdry. When I get there the stylist asks for my voucher and stares at it for about a minute. I'm assuming that she's reading the details for what I paid for. She immediately starts the keratin treatment while telling me that I cannot have any metal clips etc in my hair for at least two days. So I ask her (since this is the first time I ever splurge the big bucks for a keratin treatment) if it's customary to cut the hair after the treatment. She says "You paid for a haircut? Why didn't you tell me?" WTF? She then tells me that I can come back another day for the haircut, but I'd have to pay extra for the blow dry. Halfway through the process she tells me that she can at least trim my ends, and I figure that even though it's not what I paid for, it's better than nothing. Boy was that a mistake. I have curly/frizzy hair that I keep in layers. She proceeded to "cut my ends" in a straight blunt cut and tells me when it grows out a bit she'll even the rest out OMG. Once I realized what she did I left the place practically in tears. I wanted to like this place, but after spending hundreds of dollars (and that is something I don't usually have the luxury of doing) you expect to leave the salon looking and feeling amazing not saving up to go somewhere to fix it. Sidenote, I waited 4 days before washing my hair with a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner and my hair is just as frizzy as it was before. read more

Unexpectedly, today turned out to be a day of beauty spent at Aliano Hair Salon a hidden gem located in the Bronx. I went there to redeem my groupon for a Brazilian Keratin treatment which gets rid of the hair frizz......even on a rainy day. Trust me this stuff works. Clara is my hair stylist who always does a good job......this is my 3rd treatment here over the cousre of this year. I usually come here for my hair but today i tried the mani-pedi with Sylvia and it was by far THE BEST one I've ever had! Gracias Sylvia for the great foot massage. I walked in yesterday and to my surprise, I was able to make a next-day appointment. Everyone was super-nice. From the owner at the front desk to the lady that escorted me downstairs. That's where the magic happens. I'm 5'10" so everyone kept telling me to watch my head! I was fine though. It is a really nice feel in the basement and they have a tv and really comfy seats. Lucia is the most talented esthetician I have ever worked with. She was upfront about the pain and all. I got my first brazilian, my legs, and my underarms. The brazilian was $40, the legs were about $50, and the underarms were like $15. I prepaid with a cc over the phone and I included a $30 tip, which Lucia said was WAY more than enough. Brazilian first. Lucia was so warm and funny and completely made me feel at ease. Afterall, she was all up in my intimate areas. She told me to let her know if the pain was too great. I have an extremely high pain tolerance---if my finger fell off, I could stitch it myself. For my first time, I rate the pain as like someone snapping a rubber band against your skin. As she continued working, each area became numb, therefore painless. Lucia said she has been working here for like 30 years!!! She told me that it was all that she does all day!!! So that makes her an expert, mixed with her talents, this is the BEST place to delve into the realm of intimate waxing. You will be in good hands. Also, by the end of the session, you feel like you've known her all your life. So you say goodbye until next time and she says, "I love you." You give her a hug and you genuinely say it back. I decided to get my first Brazilian here because of all the great reviews. A decision I regret as my Vayjj (private part) has not looked the same since. Long story short I have very curly non pattern hair and the lady didn't know how to wax accordingly. Instead of taking small sections she did large sections which went against my grain. The results were nice and smooth for about a day and then hair bumps came in and I looked like a teenage going through puberty below. It's been about a month and while most bumps have gone away it still not the same and I'm so irked. Lesson learned: don't go to a nail / wax place for a Brazilian! read more

Literally the worst customer service I've received. I am currently sitting inside this salon, came in at 9am when they opened for a simple wash and blow and its now an hour later 10am on a Thursday morning with no assistance. This was the first time walking into and wanting to try this salon being I live in the neighborhood- and an earlier review reads true to this salon - they focus a lot on older customers that they already have a relationship with. As a professional in the beauty industry i have NEVER been so disappointed. I originally called Tuesday for a 1pm appointment for someone who was used to dealing with " wavy, coarse hair" but was offered a 12 or 12:30.. perfectly fine so I arrived at 12. My stylist CARMELA who claimed to have 30 years in our profession was more than disappointing. Not only was my haircut absolutely terrible ( which I had someone cut my hair again today to fix her mistakes) she burned me while raking her round brush against my scalp(telling me this is the only was to get my root dry) , kept me turned the whole time so i couldn't see, did not give me the style i asked for and ended up leaving at 2:45 . Oh, when we were talking about the revlon and how much i couldn't stand it.. she whipped it out an started using it to finish blow drying my hair. Huffing and puffing throughout my blow dry; she then complained to her next guest about how long it took to blow my hair out. Mind you guys, I'm a hairstylist and i style my hair daily. I came to this place with a grown out one length looking for a nice trim and some long layers ... the only good part about my service was the hair wash and the only reason i tipped her $20 was for doing the service and unfortunately i couldn't walk away without doing so because i know what it's like for a stylist... unfortunately i do not recommend!! read more

I went for a Brazilian wax for the first time. I mean Eliana was just the most caring and amazing and soft and she made it go so smoothly. In the basement of this hair salon there is a hidden treasure named Lucia! She is the waxer supreme! In October 2006 just before my sister's wedding my sister said to me, "I want to get a Brazilian Wax before the wedding." She had never waxed before and I, while having been waxed before, had never gotten a Brazilian. Several friends recommended Lucia. Walking through the hair salon and down the stairs to the basement you can't help but wonder, "Where the heck are they taking me?". Then you enter her little cave and into the waxing room you go. There are two tables one for body waxing and one for facial waxing. The one for body waxing has a strategically placed mirror so when you look up you can see what's going on if you care to (don't worry it's not a mirror straight over the table that you can't avoid). Since both of us were first timers she explained just what she was doing and even mentioned when something might hurt a little more than another place. Only one place hurts ladies and it's quick not to worry! Plus she doesn't leave a hair, after she finishes waxing she uses a light and checks for strays before sending you off. For such an uncomfortable situation Lucia makes you feel right at home she was a lot of fun and had us laughing the entire time. I live on the west coast but I am sure I will be back when I come home to visit. My sister continues to see Lucia and has been very happy with her. By the way, I am a big woman, her table was sturdy, she wasn't uncomfortable and didn't make me feel uncomfortable with my size. She was thorough and when she couldn't quite get to something she thought about what other position might work instead of just ignoring it. I really appreciated that. Thank you Lucia! read more

Given that this place got such high ratings, when my husband needed a trim, I scoured yelp for salons that may work for us in our newish neighborhood. Looking at the ratings average for Aliano's, we decided to try it for ourselves. Like another yelper mentioned, it is simple and there is definitely a rapport between stylists and patrons. Familiarity is definitely what stood out the most here. Unfortunately, my husband and I couldn't get past how dusty the stylist station looked. The combs that were used looked really old and we weren't sure if everything had actually been sterilzed between uses. The stylist was an older lady and she didn't seem to really be listening to what my husband was requesting and talking over him. when she was finished, a very big dollap of wax was put into his hair and parted in the most unattractive way. eeeek. We have since found a barbershop more to my husband's liking (review coming soon). Perhaps Aliano's has something going for it if you have waxing needs that need to be taken care of....but given the state of UNcleanliness and eye for detail we encountered when we went in, I would feel apprehensive about returning. read more

Love this place! I found it about a year ago and i've been going consistently for Brazilian waxes ever since. Lucia and Illiana (Lucia's daughter) are awesome at waxing! Lucia has had decades of experience and Illiana is following in her foot steps of the skill set. The venue is clean. The people are friendly. [Just don't be late for an appointment. ;-) ] I must say, i did cheat once and went to another place downtown with a thrifty living social deal and boy did I pay for it. That said, I never cheated again.
