Specializing in Columbian coffee, Alice Good is a welcome reprieve from the national big box coffeehouses. The space in downtown Verona is both cozy and lovely, and it's just an absolute pleasure to land here for some thoughtfully made coffee and/or espresso based drink. Granted, you really have to love Columbian coffee to get the most out of Alice Good and while I do enjoy it, I tend to favor Peruvian or BrazilIan given the choice. This is just a personal observation but for me, this was a really good cup but others may get more out of it than I did. If you love Columbian coffee, this is likely a gift from the heavens and if you don't know or care about the difference, you'll still enjoy an excellent cup of Joe. For my part, I loved the ambiance, service was great, and they are clearly working hard to earn business and to stand out in their community. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. read more

What an amazing place to sit and enjoy delicious food and coffee! My friend and I enjoyed a Saturday morning here and we will be back!!!! We met the Owner, Laura, and she couldn't have been nicer what a lovely person and what a wonderful coffee shop! I noticed the aprons that every worker had on and also noticed that they sell them! These aprons are not your normal aprons at all. They are light weight and they separate at the legs making it easier to bend and move. I am a Gardner and with the pockets in this apron I will be using it for my gardening tools. Also the bags are made of corn and biodegradable, but a bonus is that they can be composted into the garden! Our coffee was amazing and they offer Bloom Bake shop items! We saw some do the food coming out of the kitchen and it looked absolutely delicious and portion sizes are perfect! I highly recommend your next coffee break here! read more

Great coffee shop that we passed on our travels to New Glarus. They brewed a dark roast fresh for me (just kidding they were already brewing it, I just timed it nicely ). Fantastic coffee and a beautiful space-- by far my favorite coffee shop in the area! I love coming here to work; there are ample tables (and a really nice outdoor porch) and the baristas are always friendly. I am a particular fan of their cortados, which really let the espresso shine. Depending on your order, they can be kind of pricey-- a flavored latte is a bit more expensive than I'd typically expect. I get my usual iced oat milk lattes (maple, hazelnut etc.) but you can taste the coffee as opposed to some places that make it super milky. I have always just picked up coffee but would love to sit and hang out in the shop (or in their cute outdoor seating areas) once to get the full experience. I ordered the spinach egg and cheese sandwich to-go but they were out of croissants so they offered to put it on sourdough for me. Long list of flavor syrups and overall so yummy, not too sweet and strong bold floral coffee flavor. Have been in need of a spot like this since I moved from Fort Collins CO. They clearly nail their coffee origin and making, also sell the beans in bags that I will have to try with my mini espresso machine at home. I have tried their rose and lavender, not too overpowering as the coffee notes stands out, but fun to have. Friend has tried their matcha before too & it's good I hear The seating area is abundant and spacious, so well lit and just great vibes to be productive yet not too overstimulated by music or crowds. This is an adorable little coffee shop in an unassuming location just outside of Madison, WI. Upon entering, we were greeted with a smile and, since we were unfamiliar with the shop, the barista took time to explain how things worked there. He also helped us choose the ideal flavor of coffee based on our preferences. I ordered a regular drip coffee and my friend ordered a pour over. The pour over did take some time, but they were very busy, so it's understandable. In addition to coffee, they sell handmade products from Colombia. They also had a tinto (black coffee) on the menu, which added to the Colombian charm. The decor inside is bright and airy, perfect for slowly enjoying a good cup of coffee with a friend. read more

Prompt, friendly, helpful, and efficient without being rushed. Great presentation, with the wide, white mug on a small wooden tray. Coffee was quite good. Bloom bakery's sweet potato donut was amazingly moist and very tasty. Would have again. The place is huge by coffee house standards, with different areas in which to sit. A great place to read or work, or meet a friend. The back room doesn't have speakers making it a little quieter, which I appreciated. Atmosphere is wonderful--much more natural light than the stereotypical "dark and cozy" vibe. Great lighting and light-colored furnishings give the whole place a fresh, modern feel. Great for reading or doing a little work. Love the artwork, which gave the place a gallery feel. The music was a Spanish-language Latin pop style, and at a pretty good volume. Will return. Excellent coffee selection and brew. One of the few places that were on point and could make a legitimate traditional macchiato. Food also looked hearty. With the good outdoor seating for nice mornings this is a great place to spend some time at in the morning. The only downside was no sparkling water for your macchiato- so I cannot give a five star. This was our first visit to Alice Good. We had heard from others that this was a great new restaurant here in Verona. We decided to try it for breakfast and coffee. My wife had the spinach, egg and cheese croissant and a Latte. I had the turkey, egg and cheese croissant with a mocha. The food was delicious, and the coffee was perfectly roasted and it ended being a perfect breakfast combination. The price was reasonable and in line with what you would expect ti pay. Visited Alice Good on Sunday morning for some tea and to do some work. The venue was very aesthetic and clean. The tables were spacious and the natural lighting made the venue very open. I got the herbal mint tea and it was fantastic for only $3. The staff were all super friendly. The venue is dog friendly which was awesome. At one point I was met with a husky puppy that was so cute! I originally came for the coffee but ended up returning for the people/community (and coffee too, of course!) I first tried Alice Good in the summer and was incredibly impressed by their friendly and personable employees/managers. They were helpful and looked happy to be there. Environment is everything and they sure made me feel welcomed! Atmosphere: The rennovation is a minimal and clean aesthetic with an easy to navigate layout. I absolutley love how Alice Good showcases their local and unique artists! Giving back to the community is something that is clearly important to them and it shows. The people: I have never had a bad encounter with anyone there ever! Yes, it gets busy but everyone does a great job of being attentive and learning regular's names. The owners go out of their way to talk to customers like they are friends and family. The coffee: As a self proclaimed "coffee newb", I thought it was extremely helpful that I could be directed by any of the staff to a drink that i would like. A real gem of a coffee house. Ralph is a speciality coffee aficionado who beings his passion to the business. Superb espresso from beans they source from connections in Colombia. Perfect crème and not a hint of over extracted acidity. But the service, subtle but high end serving trays with a card describing your coffee and pastry selection make it even better. But the decision to source more of what they sell from cups to take out bags from Colombia shows that this place is about far more than coffee. TL;DR Nice place with minimal selection, good for specialty coffee aficionados, not so much for me. I live nearby and go out for coffee regularly so I was really excited to check it out, until I heard that they didn't have any decaf coffee of any kind. I pretty much only drink decaf and I figured that was a temporary startup thing, so I waited a few months and tried again. But yeah, still no decaf. Now I see the other review where they responded that they don't want to serve the chemicals used in the decaf process, which I can respect. But there's a water-only process for decaffeinating, so.... So then I looked at the menu and discovered that they carry bakery from Bloom Bake Shop. Awesome! Lots of special diets accommodated there. Oh wait. Alice Good has none of their vegan or gluten free options, just the traditional ones. Not even the flourless chocolate cake? You can't possibly claim that's unnatural or low quality or doesn't go with coffee or whatever the issue is. Also not particularly good for kids. Not exactly unwelcoming, but there's nothing aimed at kids - menu, furniture, decor, etc. Bring the calm older kids, leave the rest at home. So, two stars because the decor is fresh and the barista was pleasant. I'll be back, like once a year when I can handle the caffeine, I'm not hungry, and I don't have any kids with me. It's not very often that I get to Verona, WI (just outside Madison), but this coffee house is a reason to raise the frequency of my visits! It was a Saturday morning, and all was indeed very very good. Hungry, I ordered the "smashed chickpea toast." It was superb, as was my cappuccino. The staff was efficient and pleasant -- I even met the owners. There was a guitar player featured in a corner of this light-filled space. Alice Good is committed to socially responsible, sustainable sourcing -- and it seems they are creating a pleasant coffee community in Verona. I'll be back, maybe even take home some beans.
