We went to Orchard for VD dinner. The service and food was excellent. Our dinner included Rose Cider which is what they are known for (ciders). First time I had a small batch loc as l cider and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Very nice alternative to wine with dinner. They also have a small store where the sell the small batch ciders, would recommend trying. I had fish and sides of peel and eat shrimp and cheese curds. All were excellent. We checked out Orchard during Restaurant Week for lunch. I ordered a Knife and Fork Caesar Salad and the Margarita flatbread. The Caesar salad was excellent with super crisp romaine and a fresh house made dressing. I wished that the plate was bigger, as it was loaded very high and hard to not spill. The Margarita flatbread was ok, nothing special. My dining mate tried the Fried Cheese Curd app and a Smashburger with fries for his main. The curds were deliciously crunchy and gooey. Some of the best curds in the area. His Smashburger was good, but the fries were outstanding. We also tried hot cider, since cider is Orchard's claim to fame. The cider was excellent, although a bit pricey at $6.00 a cup. We splurged on some mini-donuts for dessert, but they were just ok. The vibe of Orchard is open and inviting. Always a fan of cider, I came here on a weekday night excited to sample some ciders and dive into what looked like a tasty menu! Unfortunately they were out of the cider I wanted to try the most so I went with the sangria - Fantastic choice! I really enjoyed this drink and highly recommend. Not too sweet and garnished brightly. I had a tough time deciding on something to eat and went with two appetizers - crispy brussel sprouts and the onion fritters. The brussel sprouts were pretty good, though quite large and therefore a little tough. Great sauce and flavor profile though. The onion fritters left a bit to be desired - I had a much different picture in my head with the word "fritter" and what ended up coming out resembled a bloomin' onion if you recall those from a visit to Outback Steakhouse back in the day! Not my favorite option and I'm glad to have paid happy hour prices. My friend had the lamb meatballs and thought they were excellent. They had a fire going which was a nice touch on a cold evening and while our server was busy and less attentive, the owner/manager did a lot of walking around and checking on tables. The bar was expansive and looked like it would be a good spot to meet a friend for happy hour if the tables are all full. I do feel the prices are a smidge high for what I saw but I'll give it another go and try something different next time. And hopefully that sangria stays on the menu! read more

Orchard is a tasteful little spot on Verona, so named because John the owner also owns field full of apple trees. You get the sliced apples in the salads and the bottles of apple bourbon up front. The hot tea is no charge, but the iced tea is not. Both appear to be Lipton. I got an Arnold Palmer, which was quite good. They didn't mix it so it had a toquilla sunrise feel. The appetizers really stood out. The animal fries were not your squirt cheese in n out style. These were thick cut steak fries, with Wisconsin melted cheese and ground beef, topped with thousand island like aioli. The other wunder starter was the hot pretzel. Thick with kosher salt applied to buttered crust, it's served on a charcuterie board with cheese knife. Perfect for cutting bite sized peices fresh before you dip. Cheese sauce and stone ground mustard. Burgers were good. Sit down restaurant style, thick and perfectly grilled to order. A little gooey but the buns soaked up the juices. Salads come with standard fancy greens, topped with thinly sliced apples, with whole pecans. The vinegrett was decent. Soup that day was country vegetable. We passed at fire because it sounds very Campbell soup from a can. A couple minutes later she came out and said chef made her taste it, so she could adequately rave about it. Had the loveliest time here for brunch on a Sunday! This restaurant is so cute, and the food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be returning to try more of the items on the menu :) I got the Orchard Sangria which was perfectly balanced. Not too strong with wine, but flavorful, with a fun twist from the cinnamon stick and fresh apple and orange slices. For my meal, I had the Sunny Start Sandwich. The bun was soft and fresh, and I loved the peppery arugula, it made the sandwich so tasty! The potatoes that came with it were perfectly salted and crispy as well. My friend raved about the Smash Burger, and we can't wait to come back to try the apple cider donuts next time. The staff were friendly and made us feel welcome. Came here for a Sunday brunch. They're still in the phase of working out the kinks. The atmosphere is very cute itself. The bartender Coleen stood out as being super helpful and wearing many hats trying to meet the customers needs. The menu is simple local dishes. I can recommend checking it out at least once. The brunch waffles are exactly like the ones you get in Belgium so make sure you like sugar lol! Only wish they served fruit with the kids menu items. read more

We had a small evening dinner here while visiting the area. We were searching for something beyond heavy burgers and grilled cheese. Orchard is a ciders restaurant with a clean and crisp interior. We ordered the tomato soup, orchard salad with nuts and cherries and a side of the apple slaw. I also had a small pour of one of their drier ciders. All was great. The star of the show was the friendly customer service and the cozy fireplace on a cold winter night. If I were drinking more these days, I would have picked up a bottle of the apple brandy from their small store in the entryway. Overall, a positive experience. read more

Food allergy customers beware. We went to the restaurant with my son who has celiac disease. After the waitress told us everything on the brunch buffet was gluten free, the chef corrected her in pointing out the gluten free items. When I asked about cross contamination concerns, he basically sent me away and told me not to worry. (I then watched as people used the same tongs on gluten free and gluten foods.) Outstanding first visit! The owner seated us and checked in a few times. The restaurant was really bright with lots of windows. The cocktail menu was fun and they of course had plenty of ciders to choose from. We loved the cider sangria and the rose cider. The Caesar salad was fantastic...so good we forgot to get a photo. It was fresh, the dressing was excellent, and the croutons were super flavorful and crispy but not too hard. We ordered the diavola pizza, and we were not disappointed. I was really excited to see a new restaurant open up in Verona! Usually I feel like I have to go Downtown or to Fitchburg for new spots, so this was a great surprise to see pop up! Atmosphere: Clean and modern-farm like, will be great for the summer when the bay doors can be opened and the patio will be available too. It was a little awkward as there was no music for most of the time that we were there. When they did play music eventually, it was a little too loud. I think just some low background noise would have been a great enhancer to the farm like feeling! Service: The service was a little strange and unorganized as expected since they just opened up. There was only one other table there at the time and service was slow unfortunately- drinks took awhile to make and the food came out at the same time as the drinks did. The server was super friendly and excited to be there, she had a great attitude. The host that greeted us seemed a bit nervous but made sure that our server took our orders ok. Had a great brunch at Orchard! Environment is very airy and bright which was perfect for a sunny Sunday morning. Our server was very attentive and quick to get any questions we had answered if she didn't know off hand. The owner also came and checked how we were and chatted us up a bit which was nice. They offer all the classic brunch fare, but I have to say there are some great change-of-pace dishes like the cornmeal crusted Superior Walleye that sets this brunch spot apart from all the others. Love it! I usually lean into a Bloody Mary and while these looked very enticing, I decided to try a couple of ciders and I was pleasantly surprised as I wouldn't normally drink ciders. The cider flights looked like a great option for the money as well. I will definitely be getting the word out about Orchard and needless to say will be coming back for the food and cider! read more

The atmosphere and service were very welcoming! My husband and I were on a date night for the first time in a while and had received the recommendation to go to Orchard. We were pleasantly surprised by the relaxed atmosphere yet our food and drinks arrived quickly. We started off with the cheese curds which had a breading that was crunchy but not thick making it a good combination of breading to cheese. This felt like a great cheese curd representation for WI. We both had pizza - they were delicious with the right balance of sauce and toppings along with a hand tossed thickness of crust perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the Equinox cider - which was as presented of not too sweet and Fall Sangria - which was much sweeter and clear maple brandy flavors. Great experience all around! read more

Lovely place on late-summer day: the garage doors were open to the sun and the breeze, giving the whole place an airy and light feel. Orchard advertises itself as a "farm to table restaurant" with "locally sourced ingredients." Would love to know who the local sources are. Food is...average. OK, but nothing to write home about. I was really bothered by the gentleman tending the bar: we were there for lunch, and one of us ordered a craft cocktail, which took quite a long time to arrive. He made a big show of mixing his drinks - but with no one at the bar to appreciate it, it was a little over the top. When he finally delivered the drink, we got a long rant about his training, his skill and his handcrafted ingredients. He then insisted on bringing a cocktail that no one asked for, and then later, another. We were not charged for these, but again, we hadn't asked for them. I found him intrusive. I'll go back, but I admit that Orchard did not make a great first impression. read more

The food was mediocre. Anything good was in tiny amounts. Definitely overpriced. Service was inexperienced and inept. Only two tables occupied there for late lunch outside. I did like the high tables with high chairs option. waitress was at the other end/back now and the tables of the restaurant looking the other way, folding napkins most of the time. We ordered a wedge salad to split and she brought it and a tiny dish like a saucer for the second person. The saucer was unworkable. The wedge of lettuce was huge, even when cut in half the dressings were minimalistic, mainly a watery ranch dressing with a few crumbles of blue cheese. we had to ask for three sides tiny shot glass size of the dressing to cover the large amount of lettuce, which was fresh and crisp. we had to ask for another regular plate to split the meal which was necessary. (Don't know if we got charged for that). There was nothing outstanding, and the prices were pricey, considering the lowish quality and amounts of food. I don't think I've acquired the taste for cider . We split a dry one which was a pretty color, but I would've rather had a nice glass of dry Sauvignon blanc and doubt that I'll go back.... The ambience with indoor/ outdoor situation in nice weather was pleasant, but overall so far really not enough to make us want to go back. Though it is a good location (except right next to West Verona Avenue )and Verona is long overdue for a good unique restaurant we were justifiably underwhelmed. We want to try some of the new dining establishments on Monroe St which I have heard are good and look interesting. read more

Very nice spot. Food just wasn't that good. Also didn't seem to be much thought to plating. Salad was huge, and the lettuce wasn't cut. Which I understand is the style of the dish. However, since I'll have to cut it myself, perhaps put it on a plate that would allow room for that. Having a giant uncut piece of lettuce on a tiny plate made a mess with any attempt to slice it. I truly want this place to succeed. The owner was so wonderful and it really stood out that he was there, spoke to us, and shared his story. I'm also happy that despite it being a more limited menu, there was a wide range of options that also catered to the various food allergies/diet restrictions within our party. The restaurant itself was beautiful. Clean, warm, and inviting. I look forward to visiting again when the fireplace is running during the colder months. The only reason why I'm not giving all 5 stars was due to the service. Our dedicated server was great. She shared with us that it was her second day on the job but she had the confidence and customer service skills that made it seem like she's being doing this for years. She was able to answer questions or go ask and make sure we got the correct answer. Where the service wasn't so great was due to the bar staff. In our party, one member ordered a mixed drink and another member ordered an N/A drink. When the drinks were delivered, the individual identified which drink was alcoholic and which one wasn't. The member who ordered the N/A drink is on their sobriety journey and it's very important to them. She picked up the drink and it immediately smelled of alcohol. She passed it to a few members at the table who tried it and said there was definitely alcohol in it. She called over the person who dropped off the drinks who said they would go check with the bartender who made the drink. The bartender came back and was adamant the drink in her hand was N/A and sniffed it table side. In the meantime, the person who received the true N/A drink was positive there was no alcohol in it. They ended up switching (the N/A drink was just lemonade, orange juice, and ginger beer (pretty easy to notice if alcohol is in it)) but the member who originally ordered the N/A drink felt really upset. That mistake can have pretty big consequences especially if someone is on a sober-journey that gets messed up over a bartender that can't admit a mistake. Overall, we plan to be back. Like I said, I want this place to succeed. Verona has had a revolving door of restaurants in the past so I'm hopeful we're turning a corner. read more

But food was overcooked, appetizers meatballs dry as the Sierra and premium priced cheese curds. Averaged to $1 per corn meal crusted cheese curd. Chicken and fish tasted good. Still a rookie staff as others had reviewed. Work on the oven/fryer time and then charge $16 for 3 moist meatballs. read more
