This is the best salon EVER!!! This is the first time I have ever been to a PROFESSIONAL African American salon. Here are my pros: I called the day before and was able to get an appointment. Very pleasant and professional on the phone. When I walked in, I was greeted and waited no less than 10 minutes before starting on my hair. (How many times have you walked into a salon and NO ONE speaks, or you get to the salon and have to wait over an hour before they start on your hair.) The young lady who shampooed my hair was SUPERIOR!! I think her name is Stephanie. That was the best shampoo I ever had. Oh, and they have steamers as well. I love getting my hair steamed when the conditioner is in it. Stephanie used my products I brought in with no problem, and she blew my hair straight in no time. That was the best part of the experience. Ms. April was phenomenal! She was pleasant, professional, and warm. She was gentle, braiding my hair. The salon was immaculate and set up well. There was no loud talking, no loud TVs or music. The sound was a decent level where we didn't have to yell at one another when talking. THEY DO AND BELIEVE IN NATURAL HEALTHY HAIR! I've been natural for years, and doing my hair was no problem. Ms. April said most of her clients are natural. Oh, they have wine! How nice is it to sit back, relax and have a glass of wine when getting your hair done. Please check these ladies out if you're ready for a professional setting when getting your hair done. Not friendly at all. I was visiting from out of state and made an appointment over the phone for root coloring, low lights and a trim. The lady on the phone said April could do my hair in an hour. When I walked in, I never felt so incomfortable. People just stared at me and someone came and asked if they could help me. I told her I had an appointment with April. She replied, I am April and then yelled over at someone and said, you told her I could do her hair? The lady replied yes. She then asked me what I needed done. I explained to her the same thing I told the lady on the phone. April then asked me if I knew my hair color formula used to color my hsir.. ?? Really?? I don't keep that on hand. April (the owner) goes above and beyond all expectations with the level of services provided. The salon owner greets everyone and she is usually doing hair. The shop is always busy and the stylist are great. Freda can lay hair whether it be natural, chemically treated, long, short, sew in, crochet, brow arching or waxing. If you want it they can do it with flair and true salon shop talk. I called on a Friday afternoon and April was able to fit me in for a Saturday morning appointment (as a new client). I received a touch up, cut and color. My hair looks superb! I'm extremely happy with the service I received and how fantastic my hair looks. I will most definitely return. read more

I think I just found my new hair salon!!!! This place is amazing! I had an appointment with April and she was just so sweet. I had a regular wash, but it also comes with a deep conditioner (bonus) and I only paid $55!! When April was finished washing my hair she made sure to detangle my hair as gentle as possible, which I LOVE. The detangling process was completely painless. Especially since I have natural hair. I also love how they did not use unnecessary heat on my hair! Just enough to get the job done. And the owner Alice was so sweet offering everyone food and beverages. I never felt so welcomed before at a beauty salon. I was constantly asked if I was ok, and always being checked on! Which is a great plus!! Alice was giving great advice on how to treat and maintain healthy hair. And I feel like my hair was taken into great hands!! My hair is bouncy, soft and full! I'm so thankful that I've found such a great place like this! They also allow payment with cards I'm just so upset that I wasn't allowed to tip with my card. Cause I had no cash on me!!!! She is EXTREMELY patient and is honest on all things hair. Diva, is awesome! Her hair washing and conditioning in particular, are wonderful as well as hair piece additions. I love this salon! I've been looking for "home" for YEARS in the Bolingbrook area, and I haven't found a single place I like. Randomly, I was up at 6:15 am on a saturday morning, (couldn't sleep), and I had a Chrismas party for work and needed my hair done ASAP. I didn't think it was possible, at such a last minute. Luckily, I found Alice and they were open at 6 am! I didn't believe so I called and friendly person answered and there were definitely people already in there. She got me in at 8 am, and when I arrived, they were super friendly and bustling. I waited a little bit, but considering my last minute appointment I didn't mind. The owner has a good system so she gets every body done in a reasonable time. She is super friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable. I really like her, and the atmosphere. I'm so glad I found "my place" because I'm super loyal and don't trust my hair to everyone. Give it a try, they're awesome! read more

This is the best salon I have ever been to! Hand down! I had been contemplating relaxing my hair for a weeks prior and last Saturday morning I just decided I needed to go ahead and do it. I found this place on yelp so I called and they were able to get me in around 11 which was really amazing considering how busy they were when I got there. I swear Diva (I hope I remembered her name right) was washing away all the sins I did to my hair. When I left my scalp felt so clean. My ends were even. My hair looked so healthy. And best of all it was so manageable. I was actually able to wear it straight for the whole week and got tons of compliments. It was even humid a couple of the days from the rain and my hair was still sleek. I finally washed it on the weekend and I didn't have any weird shedding or breakage. My hair still feels healthy and it looks great with my own styling products. The place was clean the staff was so nice. Even though they were busy everyone was taking there time with all the customers to make sure everything was done right. The prices were so agreeable. You get so much bang for your buck! I will be back for all of my monthly maintenance and trims. Recommended to everyone I know. read more

Ok, here goes, I was looking for a salon that I could trust to transition from natural to relaxed hair. I began going to April. In the beginning it was great. The staff and April were pleasant. Then I noticed that my hair was thinning and falling out just from touching it. It would m be soft for a day then it would become dry and brittle. I told April about it. I said that maybe the perm was too strong. She continued to use it and put a semi permanent color on top of it. I watched my hair fall I out of my head. She even suggested that I had an autoimmune disease. I have since left the salon and I'm in talks with a legal team. Please do not go to this salon April The Owner Does NOT Know How To take care of hair. I can not give this salon any stars it is horrible. read more

I have a frontal install in which the hair and the installation cost me over 600.00. My regular stylist was out of town and I was trying to find someone in my area who could re glue the front of my unit as the glue had come up. I called this shop and they told me they could do it with no problem. When I arrived there the ladies were friendly. I asked for my hair to be washed and re glued, and again I was assured they would be able to do it. to make a long story short, I arrived there at 8:23 am. They washed my hair, dried it and pursued the gluing process. When I looked in the mirror, the hair had not been glued on correctly and I could literally see white glue all in the lace and hair of my frontal. I sat there until 1:30pm going back and forth to the stylist chair to the dryer because she couldn't figure out how to put it on correctly and kept adding more glue to the hair. After that didn't work, I asked her to remove the extra glue from my hair. Then the stylist gave me some adhesive strips to make the hair stay in place. Again that didn't work either. By this point I am furious as they had lied and told me they knew how to glue on right although they didn't. By 2:30pm I had. had enough. I just asked her to leave it. So after destroying my expensive hair install and walking out of there with my hair still not glued, she STILL CHARGED ME 50.00!!! 50.00 to walk out in worst condition that I came in. Never will I ever go here or recommend anyone. If you have money to waste, then this is the place for you. Disappointed to say the least. Now I have to buy more hair! read more

Got my hair done by April and she is the best that I ever had. I was not in the salon for hours. My hair was a mess and thought that I needed a relaxer but instead she gave me a touch-up. Hello, my name is Beverly F. and I've been a customer of Alice II Hair Salon for almost 10 years now. The number one reason I keep going back is that the owner specialize in good healthy hair care. I did my own hair for years because I was unhappy with prior hair salons. Anyone can wash and dry your hair. My hair is well taken care of and has grown to over 12 inches to the middle of my back. It was a little past my shoulders when I started going to this salon. Yes, sometimes I have to wait but for the most part I am out in a reasonable length of time, which is the number two reason why I'm still a customer. My normal time for a wash & blow-dry is 2 hours or less with conditioning. Chemicals take longer but that is expected. My number three reason is she is flexible and willing to work with you on scheduling an appointment. The owner is personable, professional and most of all skilled at taking good care of both natural and synthetic hair. If you are seeking someone who can not only style, grow your hair and provide healthy hair care than Alice II Hair Salon is worth the wait and I'm sorry Tae H. had a bad experience but in life if you quit after having only one bad experience you may missed out on some of the best things in life. So, visit the salon and make your own decision because a healthy hair care stylist is hard to find and worth their weight and gold. So, it you need someone who can do both than check out my stylist April because I do not know of any other salons who also give back to clients in gifts, discounts and occasional healthy treats like fruit for customers to eat.
