Alice is awesome. She told me she had been in this business for 45 years. Nothing bits that experience. Although she provides all kinds of services but I go there for my full body wax. She uses her own homemade organic wax, she is quick, very professional, super clean, very fair prices and not to mention the sweetest lady taking to you like a kind mother during the process which makes you feel very comfortable. Honestly I pay her about 30% tip everytime cause of the great job she does and even then the amount is less than what other salons charge for lousy services. I love Alice. I mean, I've been to fancy schmancy spas, mom and pop nail salons and everything in between for my waxes. But this was a first. This place has a truly great atmosphere, Alice is just the best shes funny and sweet, and makes you feel comfortable and her dog Popcorn is the cutest dog that welcomes you into the store everytime. I went in for a wax today scared out of my life for the pain, but she did it really fast and was a perfect wax. Some things that may make people a little weary is that the wax is in tupperware that she puts in the microwave before use, and uses a butterknife instead of wooden sticks. FYI: The plaza to park is very small but the first two parking spots on the right side are designated for this spot. This review is for a Brazilian wax. It was my first experience getting one and Alice made it as smooth as possible (pun intended ) ! I called in advance and was able to be squeezed in the same day. Alice is very nice and super chill. So I walk in and I am greeted by the cutest dog ever! She is lucky to be able to bring her dog to work. There is a room all set up for the wax. She made me feel super comfortable and was very sweet. It seems a bit odd she uses a metal kitchen knife, but I have to say she seems to know what she is doing. It obviously hurt a little but not nearly as much as I had thought it would. I was done in 15 minutes and she did a great job. No bleeding or skin ripped, just a tad red and bumpy for an hour or so. I will definitely be back! read more

NOT CLEAN. Double dipping in bikini wax is disgusting. I was excited at the prospect of this place, because it's cheap and nearby, but you get what you pay for. The upside - great price, Alice is sweet and has a comforting aunt / grandmother energy. What I'm not okay with is the fact that she touches her butter knife to your skin and then dips it back in the wax. She does this OVER and OVER. It would be okay if the wax was used only for one person and then the remainder was thrown out, but as soon as I was leaving, she began re-heating the wax for the next customer. She told me the wax was organic - who cares about pesticides when it has other girls' germs in it? Incidentally, it was just was painful as any other wax I've ever had, and she left some stray hairs. This place would be a great deal if Alice learned some basic rules of hygiene. Until then...AVOID. read more

True to previous reviews, her methods involve a hot tub of wax and a butter knife and cloth strips, but she does a thorough job, is personal and friendly, and if she likes you, she'll finish off the job with a tea or espresso with you! I've been going to Alice in Beautyland for 3+ years for my bikini waxing needs. Figured it was time to leave a review. I moved back to SoCal 4 years ago and was hard pressed to find someone as good as my old waxer, who used REAL Brazilian hard wax and no strips (she was from Brazil)- that method is least painful way of waxing as far as I can tell. I tried a few other places before I came here, mostly overpriced salons in Pasadena or Hollywood, hoping that price would equal quality. After a string of painful, pricey waxes that caused bruising I decided to look for a place closer to home. I'll admit I was initially put off by the butter knife, but I figured "Hey, she's got her method". Needless to say, it was the least painful AND most affordable bikini wax I've gotten in LA. I've brought friends and they all agree. Everyone that works there is super nice. I would give five stars if not for my previous one-in-a-million esthetician. Highly recommended. read more

Nice hole-in-the-wall kind of place. Really well kept. Alice is very sweet and her Brazilian wax is flawless. She makes you feel comfortable and the whole process is quick and as painless as it can get (not sure how she does it!!). Really great service for only $25 so it's definitely worth it. Notes on thing people may not like (but I don't mind): 1) She uses a Tupperware with wax in it and microwaves it, then applies it on using a butter knife. Personally, I don't care how "pretty" the set up is as long as the job gets done right. 2) She doesn't tell you when she's going to pull the cloth off of you, but it's not very painful when she does so I didn't mind. I also think I get more anxious when they tell me ahead of time. 3) She was on the phone for the first few minutes of our session... talking to her son who was in Spain. Ok, I absolutely loved the Brazilian I got from this place. I haven't had a good wax in a while... been experiencing horrible waxing from different salons and I was just fed up! A friend of mine took me to this place she's been going to for 10 years and although it's an hour drive, I was sooo ready for a good wax! Ok, so this place is not your high end spa like salon, it's a small beauty salon with a few sweet ladies that work there... probably for a long time... but it feels completely like home. I waited about 15 minutes, she took me in to the room, I stripped, she did her thing and within 10-15 minutes, I was complete bare and happy! it was painless!!! I'm the screamer when it comes to waxing and I did not even make a sound.... aaaaamaaaazing!!! And although there were interesting moments where she was blowing the wax, checking under the folds, and twee zing my butt... I felt comfortable because she was super cool and it felt like my mom was waxing me. I actually enjoyed the wax and I am not going anywhere! I went for waxing. Alice is wonderful. The reviews about her are right. She is patient, sweet, and makes you comfortable. I used to wax myself, but no more because I will be going to Alice from now on. Waxing is a tedious work and expensive when you go to a salon. Alice doesn't have a set price because she judges on how much work is done. I'll tell you this though, had I gone somewhere I would have spent double or triple the price. Alice is amazing! I was so nervous to get a Brazilian wax but she made me feel so comfortable. Her dog, Popcorn, is a nice little distraction before heading into the room to be waxed. It's simple to find, but it is hidden in a corner in a shopping center. Easy street parking. Alice answered the phone when I called and I loved her personality over the phone. I knew immediately we were going to hit it off. Alice was professional and kind. If you're shy about waxing down below no problem... You will be too busy talking to Alice about her beautiful family or perhaps she will sing a song and by the time you know it you will be out of there. Because of her expertise the waxing literally takes minutes. The BEST Brazilian wax I have ever had! THE BEST PART: Brazilian wax is $25. The BEST price in town. Not sure how I feel about this place. I had an appointment for 6:15, when I arrived on time Alice was in a meeting with a sales rep and I had to wait about 15 minutes. When I got into the little room, it was exactly what everyone said... she uses a butter knife and a tupperware container of wax, along with muslin strips. The wax wasn't painfully hot, which was nice, but she does NOT warn you when she's going to pull. My usual girl will say "Breathe in" and yank on my exhale. The place is "homey" and very casual, which can be a good thing or a bad thing. It's not a frou-frou salon and you're saving tons of money, but she answered a phone call while she was waxing me and held the phone on her shoulder while being all up in my business for a Brazilian. Not my proudest moment. She was friendly and quick, but I do have some stray hairs left. She waxes from the side of the table instead of actually being between your legs, so it's kind of a weird vantage point I guess and maybe easy to miss some spots.
