Good old ice cream place in Elburn. It has that and a lot more to get. Alice's is certainly a classic. One of those counter order seasonal places. There's also a bit of inside seating. A lot come here for ice cream of course. It has other cold treats such as slushies. This is a popular place in the summer for sure when there's not much else cool in town. Also it has hot food. There's the usual greasy stuff like burgers, chicken tenders and other meaty stuff. Certainly there's not much healthy of course. The ice cream may be the only thing without heart attack causing greasiness. Counter service like most seasonal places for ice cream. It's usually fast. The inside is pretty cramped but there's also outside seats and tables.

Alice's Place is located in Route 47 in Downtown Elburn. It has plenty of Parking in their parking lot and also on the side street. I stopped by here for some ice cream after a hot day of fishing. The staff was pleasant, they take your order quickly and also process it quickly. I had ice cream in my hand in under 3 minutes. I chose the Large soft serve chocolate waffle cone. The size wasn't as large as I was expecting, but it was delicious regardless. My father got a chocolate malt, and my nephew and brother in law ordered Alice's version of a Blizzard. Everyone was quite pleased with their order. They do ask that you wear a mask at the window when you order due to Covid-19, and the staff all wore masks and gloves as well. Alice's was busy for a Sunday afternoon at 2pm, but it was hot and humid so that's what I would expect. All in all it was a great experience and I would definitely stop there again when I'm in town.

A cool local ice cream shop, just off of Route 47. Tons of variety for ice cream, cheap prices. A summer staple.

They also changed up their cocktail menu, and we were super excited to see they had some new summer drinks. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in the area. It's perfect for special occasions and date nights. The first two times we came we sat at the bar, but we came right when they opened and were able to be seated at a table. I love the candlesticks they have lit at the tables. There's a a view of the kitchen as well. To drink, I had the Dip in the Backyard Kiddie Pool (very refreshing) and Fresa Fresca (basically a strawberry margarita and it was super refreshing and tasted like strawberry juice). For dessert, we shared the oreo carjillo. It was pretty strong to me, but it definitely tasted like Oreos and milk! To eat as an appetizer, they gave us complimentary bread and butter and we ordered the sundried tomato oil to go along with it (a must). Their bread is so soft and fresh. We also got the bone marrow (forgot to get a photo), and it was some of the best we've had!! For our entrees, we got the two pasta dishes. They called them "small plates" but it was the perfect amount of food for us with our appetizers. I had the spicy carrot rigatoni pasta and it was super fresh. I love that they cooked the pasta al dente.

We loved everything about The Graceful Ordinary from the ambience to the amazing service (thanks Karen!) to the creative cocktails to the delicious food. When we arrived at the table, there was an anniversary card from the staff. Nice touch! We were brought a loaf of the warm housemade bread with whipped butter to begin. Hubby ordered the Having a Moment bourbon cocktail, and I had the Honey Kiss vodka and elderflower cocktail. Love their creative cocktail list. Karen was a fabulous server, so attentive and friendly. The other staff was on top of everything from water being refilled to clearing dirty dishes and even fresh butter brought to the table when it was low. Our needs were met before we even needed to ask. Also, since Karen knew that we were splitting all the courses, she automatically had the food split between two plates. I liked that. We decided to split everything we ordered. We started with the smoked salmon deviled eggs which were creamy delicious, not to mention beautifully presented. Our second starter was the bone marrow with caramelized shallots. This dish was absolutely amazing. My only critique would be to put four pieces of bread on the plate went two people are sharing. Our next course was a salad and we went with the roasted beet salad with blue cheese and sunflower shoots dressed in a warm bacon vinaigrette. Bacon - need I say more? Our main course was the walleye with ricotta gnudi, fava beans, peas and wild mushrooms. So many flavors and textures going on. The fish was perfectly seared and moist. Delectable. We thought about dessert but we were so full from dinner that we passed. Karen wouldn't let us go without a complimentary dessert in honor of our anniversary to enjoy at home, their signature butterscotch pot de crème with sea salt caramel. The Graceful Ordinary certainly made our anniversary special with the anniversary card at the table, and the complementary dessert. If you're in the western Chicago burbs, I highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

We went there yesterday for dinner and continue to be delighted with the staff as well as the restaurant as a whole. I am always pleased with the staff. Our sever, Deven was on her game. She was quite knowledgeable and knew her menu well. She started us off with the Waygu Wellington Poptarts. The flaky crust that covered the melt in your mouth beef was extraordinaire. For my entree, I had the Blackened Salmon on arugula. This was combined with shaved almonds, strawberries, avocado, and blue cheese! Ever hear someone get excited about a salad? Yes it was that good. Husband had the Sous Vide half chicken with his coveted homemade mashed potatoes and carrots. My husband, the chef was not disappointed. And no meal is complete in his book without dessert. We had the Flourless Chocolate Torte. Quite heavenly. But what meal is complete without dessert? As always look forward to our next visit there!

Our waitress was so wonderful to start, she was attentive and offered some suggestions. We were taking some time to catch up, but we did order a few appetizers. This is when things took a strange turn... Our entrees started coming out, but the guys running the food didn't make any effort to clear our table or get boxes for our appetizer leftovers. So we had no choice but to put our empty plates on the table next to us - there truly wasn't any room and one guy giggled when I asked if he would take our appetizer plates. Our waitress came by shortly after and I said we asked for boxes and our plates to be cleared so we had room. She said she'd take care of it, which she did. After that, she was much less attentive. Finally, when it came to dessert... I asked for a recommendation, but unfortunately I was the only one who wanted a dessert at my table. I asked about taking it home, she told me the mason jar dessert couldn't be taken home and the others wouldn't last. I said okay forget it then. So no dessert was had and we were all VERY confused why our dinner went from stellar service to straight down the toilet. At least the food was good... I might stick to Hardware. It's a much more pleasant experience there.

This visit was extra meaningful because they quite literally saved my birthday evening. We had reservations at the new Bien Trucha in Wheaton, only to arrive and find it closed... with no notice. Not exactly festive. Enter Proof No. 5, swooping in like the culinary hero of the night. We enjoyed an exquisite tuna crudo, rich and beautifully balanced, and meatballs over polenta that felt like comfort dressed up for a celebration. The medallions with mushrooms and three sauces were excellent, layered, and deeply satisfying. And the cocktails? Some of the best crafted in the suburbs. Thoughtful, balanced, and dangerously easy to order a second. Warm atmosphere, consistently great food, and a team that delivers every time. We'll keep coming back. And back. And back.

Found out this place is closing soon and really sad I can't try all their dishes. Shared the Whipped Feta with olive spread on naan bread and gluten free bread. Really delicious and light and creamy. Had the wagon rider non alcoholic cocktail. Hint of raspberry and lime. My main meal I had the roasted beets salad and added salmon. Had the right amount of dressing. There were air dried and roasted beets. Get the crunch from air dried beets and pistachios. Also had a Light sweet taste. Have option to add steak, salmon, or chicken. Choose the salmon and was cooked perfectly. Very flaky and moist. There is free parking on the streets and not far from the parking garage.
