Honestly a lifesaver. I bought a suit the week of a wedding because I'm a huge procrastinator and the pants needed hemming with almost no time left. I called Alicias Alterations and their phone booking system was surprisingly easy to use and got me a same day appointment even though it was thirty minutes before closing. When I showed up the tailor was super friendly and fast and clearly knew what he was doing. He had the pants perfectly altered in about thirty to forty minutes. Although the staff explained that my dress was a bit more complicated to work on, the price difference was still surprising for the work involved. The team is kind and clearly knows what they're doing, but I would strongly recommend asking for pricing upfront and getting the details clarified before committing to any alterations. Good work shouldn't come with unexpected costs. I can't speak on the quality of the alterations but initial experience was not the best. When I brought my dress in for alterations, I was quoted $160 plus $35 for expedited charge. I asked to think about it since the dress itself costed $300. I called the next morning to see if I could still bring the dress in (since I really wanted it) but the owner said "no we don't have time for you anymore" (which is totally understandable) but the tone of his voice seemed more like he was trying to shoo me away and did not want my business. I checked out G&L tailor on stockdale right after that call and they charged me $120 total for the same alterations and for same day pick up. I don't have any photos of my dress yet, but Charlie was professional, made me feel comfortable, and he knew exactly how to work with my bridesmaids dress (made out of linen and very difficult to work with). It took Charlie one shot to alter my dress perfectly and at the right floor level. He scheduled me for a try-on to be sure if he needed to make additional adjustments, but because of his expertise and quick work, that wasn't needed. THANK YOU AGAIN CHARLIE. Omg this lady is seriously the best! I went around and around looking for someone to alter my wedding dress and my bridesmaids dresses but everyone either turned me down because they said the beading on the dress didn't allow for what I wanted or wanted my arm AND my leg to fix them. My wedding dress and Bridesmaids dresses were all beaded and I wanted them slimmed down, to have sleeves added (just wedding dress) and to make a faux train for all of them by making the front shorter than the back. I know it was a lot but it was my wedding!!! Sooo the cheapest quote I got was literally HUNDREDS more for just one dress than she charged me to fix ALL 4 dresses!!! They came out perfect!! She did multiple fittings and altered them every time my bridesmaids lost weight lol I literally cried when I tried it on after she fixed it cuz I couldn't return the dress and I was all stressed out I wasn't going to be able to make it look good on me and she was so patient and kind to my bridezilla outbursts! I was visiting family in Bakersfield and the button of my jacket fell off. I didn't think it was going to be possible to fix it while still visiting but it was the only jacket I brought and it's been so cold. I looked up local places and this place came up so I gave it a try. The place is inside a shopping mall but it wasn't hard to find. When you walk in from the left door it's straight down all the way to the end. The guy was really cool, I showed him my jacket and right away he says he can fix it. They were pretty busy so I really thought they were probably going to want to keep it but I explained the situation and he just goes don't worry I can fix it right now and he fixed it on the spot! I told him I was from out of town so he knows I probably won't be a regular customer so I really appreciated that he was still willing to take the time to help me out of a bind. My jacket is nothing fancy and old but it's comfortable and warm so I was really grateful to have it last me a little longer.
