Instantly chose to come here for my fiancé's suit/tux needs for our wedding. Through the process of making appointments via their website, it was super easy and simple to go through. Every appointment we went in for was a pleasant experience. The location itself always was clean. The workers are all so nice, friendly, and outgoing. Not to mention their patience because I can't promise that it wasn't busy because his fittings were around "Formal or Prom" times for some of the local high schools around town. Choosing styles was not very hard for us. They've got a good range of suits/tux to rent and buy. We chose to rent (and now that we've had the wedding, he wishes he had bought instead). But nonetheless, the girls that helped us narrow down our option and chosen suit greatly. What I appreciate most about Friars Tux is their customer service. Even after every appointment, we'd get check in calls a few days after to be asked if we had any questions or concerns about anything. Something I appreciate very much so. Not to mention, we were able to get my dad a rental suit easily and one for my brother (whom is based in the Naval Base in SD - thankfully there was a location of Friar Tux in SD close to him). They accommodated on sending my brothers suit/tux order from SD to the Bakersfield location by wedding week which meant so much as the last minute decision of my brother arriving earlier change a few weeks before wedding. We saw an ad on Facebook advertising for homecoming attire so we decided to travel from Taft to come and look for something awesome for our son to wear to homecoming as it would be his first time attending. My husband and son entered the store and no one acknowledged them, said hello, or anything. There were ooy two ladies working and were helping other customers so the husband and some kind of looked around for a while still with no one saying a word to them. A family of 4 or 5 entered the store and one of the ladies cheekily told them to scan a qr code and they would be with them shshortly. Still never acknowledging my husband or son. This place has to be one of the most irritating irresponsible I ordered my tux a month ago went to pick up they said everything wasn't in yet then when everything came in I went to pick up my stuff get my pants altered (usually takes 20 min) they were busy said it would be ready the next day and they'd call me never received a call back so 3 days later I just walk in (a day before the wedding) and the lady said oh it's still not ready I will never be using them ever again they need new staff and employees who actually know how to keep track of time read more

The man who worked there didn't have the greatest customer service. As soon as my fiance and one of the groomsmen walked in he started to "fat shame" them. I know if someone would have said something like that to me when I was trying on wedding dresses I wouldn't of bought there. Amazing customer service!! My husband was a guest at a wedding and needed a suit right away. After looking at several locations in town (with no success) I went into Friar Tux. Immediately we were approached and helped. Diamond was awesome helping with all the information regarding suit sizes and colors available and set up a fitting appointment. When returning for the fitting everything went smooth and was scheduled to return for pick up the next week. Only thing that needed adjusted was pant length which was fixed to perfect length within 15 min. I also want to thank Krystelle for all her help finishing the job! Although there was a limited selection, the experience here was wonderful and I recommend this location. I will definitely return if another suit is needed. read more

Absolutely best place for suit rental, purchase new suits and tailoring in town. Jerry has always been extremely helpful. Got my measurements and had my suit ready in a day or two for rentals when needed. I take all my alterations to him and this business as they do great work. I highly recommend this place for all your suit, tux (rental & purchase) and tailoring needs. P.S. With all due respect to the woman that works in this shop. Stay away from her. Jerry the owner is the only guy I'll deal with. Every single time I've dealt with the woman, even on the phone. It's just a hot mess, takes forever and I do not get when I came in or called for. Be very careful when using this rental establishment. My son was fitted for a tux on Tuesday. We were instructed to come back for a fitting Friday I pulled him out of school at lunch to get fitted. The suit jackets sleeves were uneven by approx 1 inch and pants were 1 1/2 too long. They said they would fix it and to come back after school. we returned that evening (2nd attempt) the left sleeve of jacket was still a approx 1/2 inch shorter then the right (still at this time we gave them grace asked what they could do and the sales associate said that it was 5 mins too late to order a new jacket so she would send the jacket to alterations and to come back Saturday (day of formal) at 12. We returned Saturday and nothing had been adjusted the sleeves were still 2 different lengths and the new sales person actually tried to say that I was incorrect. So he then proceeded to measure the sleeves and yes they were approx 1/2" dif. At this time being the 3rd time and then trying to make excuses for the same issue and 2 hours prior to the formal I was frustrated. The sales associate said you can just get a refund. REALLY?!! What do you suggest my son wear to the dance in 2 hours? There lack of concern and customer service is shocking! Beware.... I believe a business shows how good it is when it effectively deals with mistakes. We gave them 3 chances and now are on our 4th only because there is nothing we can do this close to the dance. Sadly, we are at their mercy. Dear Chelsea, I have no problem talking to your operations manager. However, I believe the problem lies with the Bakersfield manager. From what I was told she informed the sales associate to not have the hemming done externally. At that point I believe effective management would be to take the situation on herself and help instruct the employees what to do and oversee that the suit was hemmed properly. Instead the suit was just left uneven for the 3rd time. I did not want to escalate the situation but after the 3rd time of our request being ignored i was forced to so they would take action. I believe a company shows how good they are when they are able to effectively deal with problems and that comes from guidance and proactiveness off immediate management. read more

I am embarrassed that we spent so much money here for our wedding party. The people that work here are so unprofessional, we weren't even greeted as we walked in, one worker just said "scan the QR code to check in" nothing after that. I have a 4 year old brother that is kind of a lot to handle, who was going to be fitted. My mother and I went to help him change into the tux, one worker stated "We can only have one parent back here". First off, Did you just refer to us as a Lesbian couple?? Completely unprofessional. Second, that's not how you ask someone to go to the other side of the rope That I'll be standing next to anyways. Third, fine you guys can go back there and deal with him being crazy. This has been our go to place for the past 6 or more years . Always good service ! They are pricier than most places but convenient location and service has made it worth it for us . My only complaint is recent . In busy formal season , Moms check your orders . I had to go out of town on pick up day and sent my son & husband to. The shoes were wrong and the arm sleeves were just a little too short . I realized this on formal day so too late to do anything .
