UPDATE! We came back about a month later to celebrate Hubbers' birthday, but the experience wasn't the same. I'm guessing since they're coming to a permanent closure, it only makes sense that the quality of the experience (food and service) had began to going down. We were seated immediately, so we were off to a good start. It took a bit of time for Daniel (yep! We got the same server from the last time) to come around and get our orders. It wasn't too bad since the wait gave us the opp to decide on apps and mains, so we got to put all our orders in at once. CALAMARI: Battered thin and crispy. Dash of lemon juice made it better. Quality? Yes. Quantity? Not so much. I thought it was pricey for the amount we got. PEPPERCORN POLPETTINE: Meatballs in cream sauce. Even with the whole peppercorns, the sauce was good. The meatballs, however, didn't taste or look homemade at all. (I recently made frozen meatball soup at home and the meatball's flavor was pretty much similar.) So.. meh... BRUSCHETTA ALLA CHECCA: This was the best app out of the three. Crostini was perfect and the toppings were all perfectly balanced. SPAGHETTI AI NERO DI SEPPIA: Looked great, but lacked flavor. Asked for fresh grated cheese and added black pepper which helped a little, but still missing something... Hubbers got the linguine pesca mare which he loved (he emptied his plate!) So I guess that says a lot. And I'm really glad he liked it, being his birthday and all. He also chose crème brûlée to finish off his birthday treat. (No, they didn't comp it - which is fine, and I don't expect them - or any business - to, even more since they are shutting down. I understand they need all the profit they can get.) Overall a little less stellar than the first visit. I'll admit I was a teenee bit disappointed since we had an amazing experience the first time. It's always a 5 star experience with Chef Michael. I'm actually depressed that unfortunately as all good things do, this amazing restaurant is coming to an end. 5/31 is that end. Food is amazing as always. The only upside is we may still see him locally. His landlord is repurposing/tearing down and rebuilding. I'm sad to know this place is closing June 2025 after being here for 25 plus years. We had a 12 person work dinner here as they always accommodate large party sizes and another great meal where we didn't have to worry about the menu. They brought out a little of everything. Service from the staff and owner was excellent. The wine selection they picked was great as well. I wasn't able to get pictures of everything brought out but you must visit this place before they close. read more

Don't let the outside deter you from exploring what's inside at Aliotta's. Truly an Italian restaurant, from the decor, music and great service. Has a balance of fine dining paired with the attention in the food like you are eating at home. We had early reservations on a Saturday night, which we were glad, as it was starting to get crowded as we were leaving. Full menu and wine list. We were served delicious bread to start and we ordered the calamari too. Calamari were rings only, but made fresh with a light batter. The marinara dip was so good. Main dishes we ordered Linguini Vongole and linguini toscana. We cleared both plates. Very yummy. We ended our meal with their tiramisu which was exactly how it should be made. Recommend! We will be back, maybe a double date so we can try more things. Also event table got focaccia bread, so we have to get that next time. read more

From start to finish every guest feels attended and welcomed. The menu is extensive with numerous key ingredients. Excellent!

Decided to try a different spot, but I'll stick to my usuals. The penne al antonietta with filet mignon was average overall. Pomodoro sauce wasn't bad but wasn't special what lowers the dish is that the beef had a smell to it like it wasn't very fresh. The sandabs toscana also were a little subpar in the freshness department. The place is cute, but a little old with stained table cloths. Dishes on average were about $33 a plate which is on the higher side for pasta so I'd expect a little more. What really lowers the place are the weird vibes the servers gave me. I asked to place a high chair in a certain spot and he gave me a weird look. Then when they poured the water he leaned over me kind of pushing against me and over my baby. Then when I was ordering, he cut me off. Even my husband noticed they were weird to me but were friendly to everyone else at the table. I hate to say it's race based, but I was the only Asian person amongst my Mexican/white husband and inlaws. So maybe? Who knows. 2.5 stars but rounded up because they made a shrimp alfredo off menu for grandma. read more

While craving Italian, hubby suggested Aliotta's Via Firenze. Don't let the outside fool you because the inside is kinda fancy. However, the food, not so much. For the table, we ordered calamari and Caprese. Both were basic, nothing exciting. For our main meal, hubby and I got chicken dishes and my daughter got a steak. Again, not very exciting and everything was kinda bland and cold. The presentation of the food was disappointing as well. We did wait awhile for our food, which was annoying because there weren't very many people at the time. Not sure what the hold-up was. Of course, I had to get a cannoli and a cappuccino. The cannoli shell was very hard, but the filling was tasty. I pretty much just scooped out the filling. I wasn't impressed and was not very satisfied. The ambiance was delightful but the service and the food were mediocre. I'm glad I checked them out but would probably not return. read more

Absolutely heartbroken to learn that Aliotta's is closed. My wife and I were just making plans to celebrate our wedding anniversary there (again). The food and dining experience was always wonderful. Once I took a dozen meals prepared to go for a family dinner at Torrance Memorial when my Mom was in the hospital, and it was amazing. All our favorite restaurants are disappearing!? First Coyote Cantina, now this. We're hoping there will be a reincarnation in the future. read more

I went here on a Saturday night, we made a reservation but you probably do not need one. It's an authentic old school Italian restaurant with tons of menu options. I had the linguine and clams which was very good and the wine was great. Service was excellent and the owner or manager was very friendly and greeted us on the way in and out. We came here last night on a Thursday evening to celebrate my birthday. 4 stars are given for quality of the dishes we ordered- the Fettuccine Firenze and Lobster Ravioli were solid. A star is taken off for the complimentary focaccia bread that did not seem fresh. In addition, we ordered a lemon dessert gelato and was charged twice for it. Came here for dinner with all of my coworkers. We had a reservation and they were able to accommodate 15 of us. There was plenty of parking in the lot and the inside of the restaurant had a really nice ambiance. Service was a bit slow, even though it didn't seemed that busy. They took our orders of appetizers and we got them right away but it took awhile for them to take our orders for entrees. I ordered the risotto mare which had various seafood in it and it tasted pretty good. My coworkers seemed to enjoy their food as well. Paid 33 with tip for a to go order of lasagna. For the price, didn't think it was nearly worth it. All you get is a small square of lasagna with some sauce and a few strips of foccacia bread. First bite of lasagna had a huge piece of bay leaf that I thought was a piece of plastic. Not a great start. Foccacia was not good as it tasted like it was sitting out for a while. This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. The price is not equal to the quality of food in the slightest. We were given complimentary "focaccia" that was so dry and had virtually no flavor. Even the bottled olive oil and balsamic on the table we hoped would save the bread, tasted so cheap and acidic. I was really looking forward to having the risotto but what I received quite literally made me want to cry from the shame of selecting this restaurant as our date night location. I got the risotto Florentina and it was sooo Gray!!! Contained cheap mushrooms, the broth tasted like bland onion water, the filet minon was gray and looked like it was boiled into the risotto, and completely lacked seasoning. :( My boyfriend ordered the tortellini and it was undercooked and lacked sauce and flavor!! I no lie make better pasta from the packs I buy at Costco. Even the tiramisu tasted bland. Literally cannot believe it. I really really wanted to like this place but it was an absolute fraud for authentic high quality Italian. The service was good but I wanted great tasting food! Especially at $30 a plate! Walking into Aliotta's is almost like going home and the patio seating seems like dining in your fav restaurant in a completely different city. It's been a while since we dined here...don't really know why. We took a chance at a last minute reservation and we're glad we did. A bottle of Aglianico, a couple appetizers and Mike's friendly service was the perfect start to a lovely evening. The mini meatballs in a creamy Brandy peppercorn sauce were super delicious...the sauce was good enough to drink. Tonight's special appetizer was grilled asparagus over a bed of arugula, olive oil, lemon and parmesan. I could have ordered another one and called it dinner..it was so deliciously fresh and tasty. Our mains were the Veal Saltimbocca. The sage came through loud and clear and was perfectly complemented by the lean veal, Prosciutto and mozzarella. His veal chop was was prepared simply with garlic. Each entree was served with fresh sauteed veggies and both were equally yummy. Plenty of leftovers for a full lunch! We ended the evening with a gelato for each of us, one was lemon the other was pistachio. Super delicious and proof there's always room for gelato! Tonite I enjoyed a lovely dinner with friends at Aliotta's Via Firenze in Torrance. 1) We asked how many raviolis come in the appetizer and Daniel told us 7. We said perfect! When they came we all took one and quickly noticed there were 4 left. He had added 1 ravioli because there were 4 of us. Such a small thing, but we were so delighted! 2) When we were done and asked for To Go boxes, Daniel took our dishes away and brought us each back individual containers wrapped in plastic so they wouldn't spill in the car. Excellent all around and never have I had a bad experience at Aliotta's Via Firenze. You wouldn't know it from the outside because it's located behind Carls Jr and a big apartment complex. But don't let that deter you from enjoying a wonder dining experience! In fact I hesitate to give such a good review because this is our secret go to spot. Curb appeal not much, but once you enter the doors, let the experience begin. Nice people, great ambiance, Italian music playing, attentive waiters, and last but definitely not least, consistently delicious food. In the past 3 years we have never had a bad experience. We spent our Valentine's dinner here most recently, wonderful wine, food, and service. We had dinner here just 3 days ago, I had my favorite Risotto Fiorentine and there was hardly any risotto in it, it was mostly cream sauce and a few bits of meat and mushrooms. Where's the risotto?! I just wanted to give a review for the amazing service we had as a larger party. It was a party of 19 and I think the server's name was Daniel maybe and the others Tony. All food came out together and hot. We had a mishap with our bill (our fault completely! We divided wrong) and these guys were so sincerely nice and understanding that even though we were there late trying to figure it out, they still have a genuine smile on their face. Food (3/5): I'm sorry, but... no. I've had their Fettucine Carbonara on two separate occasions and it is NOT good. It lacks a sauci-ness to it that most Carbonaras have. I know Carbonara is typically made with eggs that cooks after the heat is turned off on the burner, but the Carbonara here has cooked the eggs and has made it more like a scrambled egg pasta rather than a Carbonara. I tried to get through it but just couldn't, despite the al-dente bite of the fetuccine noodles. The pancetta was also not crunchy. I had other people in my party taste it and they agreed it lacked luster. I do say, there are other dishes that tasted good! The Canneloni Emiliani upon first sight doesn't look like much quantity wise, but it does fill you up. Service (4/5): They give you the family Italian service you would imagine. One event that we experienced was extremely off though that I had to dock a point down. I asked for the dessert menu and one of the servers said, "I'm the dessert." Which was extremely weird considering I was with with my boyfriend and dad - they didn't appreciate the comment. Price (3/5): Pretty average for Italian food. We ordered the fried calamari. I had the lasagna and he ordered a pasta I can't recall the name of. ‍ The calamari was the best!!!!! This is an easy to miss restaurant, located off the street in a strip of other businesses. The parking lot is relatively small but seems sufficient to accommodate all the businesses. I've dined here twice. I really like Italian food buy mu two experiences were more "meh" than wow. In both cases it was the apathetic service that stripped me of a fulfilling experience. First time my guest's meal (Shrimp & Scallops) was brought out cold. He complained and the waiter, with no apology, took it back for heating. Fifteen minutes later, long alter I finished my meal, they brought out the now hot and overcooked meal for my guest. It was now so dry and tasteless he couldn't eat it. The busboy summarily removed it and the waiter didn't offer to take it off the bill. Our second time there all the food and drink was good. No complaints. But the servers outwardly lacked appreciation for our patronage and didn't thank us when we got the bill or when we paid. While I don't expect restaurant staff to bow down to patrons, ambivalence sends a bad message. Frankly, despite the good food, I'm also ambivalent about returning. read more

Though I've been to several of the restaurants near Aliotta's Via Firenze; it was only till recently did I got to try this Italian restaurant in the South Bay. The ambiance is pretty nice inside. There's lots of interesting decor including chandeliers and some neat wall paintings.. We had a small, private table where the backdrop was a tree. We started off our meal here with an appetizer of Carpaccio di Manzo as well as their special salad Rugoletta . For the Carpaccio di Manzo; the thin slices of angus beef were tasty and not too heavy. This was a good starter. The special salad Rugoletta had lots of artichoke. The artichoke definitely was a nice touch. For our entrees; my boyfriend got the Rack of Lamb while I got the Gigli Campagnola. My Gigli Campagnola had lily shaped pasta which I thought was creative and cute. The basil pomodoro sauce on the pasta was good in flavor and I liked the spread of Italian sausage throughout. I tried a little of the lamb and it was just ok. I preferred the pasta between the two. Overall dinner at Aliotta's Via Firenze made for an ok evening and dinner. read more
