Ambiance: it's a neighborhood Italian restaurant, classy and comfy inside, live music performance over weekend nights, full bar service, private rooms for parties and events Service: welcoming and friendly staff, attentively refilled water and cleaned the table Food & Drink: classic Italian food with fresh ingredients Bread - **** house warm bread, served with olive sauce and butter, recommend Tagliatelle alla Bolognese - *** traditional bolognese sauce made with veal and pork, tossed with house tagliatelle pasta, great house-made pasta although sauce was too bland Braciola di Maiale Tomahawk - ***** Tomahawk Pork Chop with herb-roasted potato, roasted heirloom tomatoes, balsamic reduction, potatoes were undercooked, hard in the middle, the pork was cooked beautifully, balanced flavors, highly recommend Tiramisu - **** classic Italian dessert made with mascarpone cheese, espresso, and ladyfingers, bold flavors, recommend Scholb IPA Draft Beer - **** bitter and citrus flavored, recommend Price: decent portions, and overall great quality for all their dishes, expect about $60 per person for a satisfying dinner

What a fantastic, quaint, delicious place. It's gorgeous inside and wonderfully decorated. Our server was beyond sweet and made fantastic recommendations all night. I ordered the branzino and hands down perfection. Got to try the lasagna which was delicious and the ravioli in brown butter and sage was so yummy. We were a party of nine and everybody had nothing but raving I'm reviews about this place. All of us agreed. We would definitely come back. I would definitely say this place is a must try!!!

Primo Italia is one of our favorite go-to's. The menu has a lot of delicious options, we try to order something different each time. We ordered cocktails and decided to split an appetizer, salad, and a main entree. Pear and burrata salad was nice, just a little sweet. Seemed more like a dessert than salad. The octopus appetizer was grilled to perfection, not tough or chewy at all. The lemongrass puree was a nice complement to the dish. Glad we chose the butternut squash ravioli, the brown butter and sage sauce was creamy and buttery. Great live music. Although there are private dining rooms and a bar, seating is limited, so reservations are a must. As with many Italian or European fine dining restaurants, staff is predominantly all male except hostesses (nothing wrong with it), but our server could have been a little more warmer and welcoming. The only things he said to us was "are you ready to order now " and "would you like to order dessert", and checked back with us maybe once. At the same time he was being chatty and laughing with the folks at the table behind us. As someone in the service industry for decades, I pay attention to details, and still never tip less than 20% even if service is just ok or mediocre.

We came again to celebrate Valentine's Day with our friends and family in Primo... amazing food. Awesome service in an extremely pleasant venue, full of joy where servers are our friends and the chief and kitchen personnel artists... we love you all... don't miss this unique restaurant... you'll not regret it!!!!

There was live music and excellent service. They have gluten free options but the pasta noodles they selected were meh. However everything else was good.

Made reservations for four at 6:30 pm, and we're seated right away. A Torrance native, I was completely unaware of this hidden gem. It's swanky, with a huge window that casts a lot of natural light behind a grand piano. We happened to come when they had live music, a pianist and he played songs by the Beatles all night. They have a full bar and a good amount of booth seating and regular tables. It's not a big restaurant so I can see why some ppl complain about the wait. It seemed like a spot for business meetings and family dinners, a lot of the other patrons were in suits/business casual. Service was fast and attentive. The complimentary bread, butter, and blended olive spread was delicious. We ordered insalata trittata, which had a very nice vinaigrette dressing. Capricciosa pizza which had artichoke, mushroom, and prosciutto- the dough was divine, fluffy and not too dense. linguine vongole, which was slightly bland - I wish the garlic/white wine sauce was more overpowering (but the way they did it did seem more Italian). The butter squash ravioli was delicious and creamy. They have a huge variety of Italian wine, and we had a glass of a really lovely Cabernet Sauvignon. They also did a lemon drop martini really well, it tasted like spiked lemonade. Highly recommend the ricotta cheesecake and chocolate mousse/vanilla gelato for dessert. The cheesecake was both thick and light, with a hint of lemon. And the chocolate mousse was chocolate heaven.

Primo Italia in Torrance, CA is a highly-regarded Italian restaurant known for its authentic cuisine, stylish ambiance, and live music, often featuring the owner's Broadway-style singing. They are known for house-made pastas and high-quality ingredients used in dishes ranging from seafood to wood-fired pizzas. I had the pasta with black truffles and it was so good. I also tried the grilled brazino and it was delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked. The grilled octopus was very soft. The beef carpaccio simply melt in your mouth. We finnished with the pana cotta! Dinner was amazing. The ambiance is warm and lively.

The bad: the food/order pick-up system for items that need to be grilled/fried is chaotic. You're given a number to pick up your order by the cashier and directed to the pick up window. There is someone assigned to the grill area and a different person handles the side dishes. There does not appear to be any system of communication between the two areas such that the protein is held under the heat lamp area until the other person adds the side dish (fries, coleslaw, etc) to complete the order. To make things even more chaotic, the staff does not consistently call out numbers when to food is ready for pickup. Instead, the customers crowd the pick up area calling out their own order numbers to see if it's ready. The staff is nice and they seem to try their best overall, but their current system needs to be improved.

I figured it would be less disruptive to the staff if I placed the order using the website instead of calling it in. I When I checked out the tax amount was too large and discovered there was a 5% service fee for using the website hidden in a tax and fee item. The fee is not identified on the website and is hidden on the checkout screen. I found the fee by clicking the information icon for the tax and fee line. When I picked up my food I asked about the fee, but they were not aware of a service fee, and noted the website is operated by a third party. I sent messages to both the website contact and the restaurant's customer service and have not received any response from either. Being locals in Lomita I can't believe we passed this place up. As you enter you have the menu's on the left and then you make line to order. The young lady taking my order was very patient as I wanted to make 2 separate orders. She greeted me with a smile as well and was very good with her customer service after I put my order In there was a dinner rush and she got that line down quick. We ordered some of their tacos and they were very good I loved that the corn tortilla was sturdy cause the tacos are well served. We got a Rocking Shrimp, steak & fish taco they were all delicious and again big portion. We also tried their Fish and Chips and they were HUGE and came with fries and they were well seasoned and just the perfect crunch and had it with a side of coleslaw as well. Their Salmon Bowl & Rocking Shrimp bowls were very big portions that can be shared for future reference. We were happy with all our choices and can't wait to try more of their stuff. Happy customer for sure. The sitting area is neat, you have a great amount of seating inside but also outside Al fresco. When I was here to pick up my food it was a full house so their food is good. They have a salsa station along with other condiments that's very clean and organized. Overall great place and so happy it's close to home and they have a variety of food and selections for all to enjoy.

We arrived around 7:30-7:45 PM without a reservation and were seated within about 15 minutes. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, and we decided to sit inside. The atmosphere was nice, and both our waitress and waiter were friendly and helpful. Overall, I thought the service was great. For drinks, I ordered the Karate Kid, upgraded with the handcrafted ice cube and smoked, and the White Lotus. The Karate Kid was excellent--very smooth and well balanced, and definitely my favorite of the 2. Unfortunately, the White Lotus was pretty underwhelming. It tasted like a watered-down sour drink, and I could barely taste the alcohol. We started with the Peruvian scallops and BBQ oysters. The scallops were one of the highlights of the night. They were served with a mango cube in each, which added a refreshing sweetness that paired surprisingly well with the scallops. The BBQ oysters, on the other hand, weren't really for me. The sauce and seasoning overpowered the natural flavor of the oysters, and I personally prefer preparations that allow the oyster itself to be the star. For our entrees, we ordered the short rib pappardelle, king crab roll, and New York strip. The short rib pappardelle was easily my favorite dish of the night. The short rib was incredibly tender, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors were rich without being overwhelming. Everything complemented each other really well. The New York strip was slightly more cooked than I would have preferred and a little salty, but it was still enjoyable. The king crab roll was decent, although I found it somewhat bland and wished it had a little more flavor. Overall, I had a really enjoyable experience. There were a few hits and misses, but the dishes that stood out were excellent, the service was great, and I thought the pricing was very reasonable for the overall experience. I would definitely come back and try more of the menu.
