Had a craving for pizza and I like as thin a crust as possible... preferable wood oven but I also only wanted a single slice. Found Ali's through Yelp and decided to give it a try. Middle of a weekday afternoon and I was surprised to find several groups eating there... usually a dead time for a neighborhood eatery, at least so I thought. What impressed me: impeccably clean and neat dining room, order/service counter and the restrooms too. Greeted immediately from the counter as I walked in. Super nice staff, very warm and friendly. This is NY style pizza so it's the traditional oven but I ordered a slice with pepperoni and Italian sausage with a drink. I was offered lunch specials but this was just going to be a midday snack since I usually only eat breakfast and early dinner. About 10 minutes later, a server delivered my pizza and it looked beautiful. The Italian sausage was carved from a link the long way and super thin. Pepperoni was smaller (diameter) than some places but a good amount. It was fresh, hot and huge for a single slice. Tasted it without red pepper or extra cheese or salt and it was exactly what you'd expect for NY pizza. Delicious but then I took advantage of the shakers on the table to take it up a few notches. 1/2 way through I thought I should stop and take the rest home but it was too good. Finished it and was delightfully stuffed. The staff checked on me just the right amount of times. They had many pasta and a few meat dishes as well as the usual calzones, etc. I can only speak for the pizza and it was very good. read more

Picked up to go! Service was quick and the place itself it's appealing. Ordered the Stromboli, grilled chicken salad and two pepperoni slices. The slices are HUGE! Almost half the box of one pizza. Stromboli was huge and very cheesy. The pizza slices weee good they could have used a bit more marinara sauce (but we like saucy). Chicken Cesar salad was scrumptious. I am originally from NY, and I am extremely skeptical when anyone claims to have "NY style pizza". I pass this place all of the time, and my first experience was going in to get a gyro (which was superb)...and I thought when I saw the slices "hey, those actually look like real pizza slices" Fast forward to tonight where I ordered takeout. I ordered a sausage & pepper pizza. Opened the box, and was excited to see slices of sausage! I tasted it and the crust was perfectly cooked, and the sauce wasn't too sweet, and not too overburdened with oregano for the perfect blend of spices. My only complaint was that there was a little too much cheese, but I would give it an A-. We will definitely order again!! read more

Good food, but very immature employees. Was there to celebrate my mother's birthday and a customer came in very irate about his order being messed up. The man was cursing and very out of manner but what the employees did was just bothering.. instead of fixing the man's order or issuing a refund the 2 young lady's decided to throw racial slurs that are very inappropriate to the customers ethnicity regardless of the situation. This was very disappointing as I was with my kids ranging from 1-12 and didn't really want to hear such hateful words that should never be said to anyone. So. I'm an Italian formerly engaged to a classically trained chef who also prefers NY pizza. If you asked me before yesterday "How can a guy from the Middle East and a Hispanic woman make good Italian food?" I would tell you "Uhhhh, I don't know, maybe they were military/travelled the world?" and perhaps Ali and Betti did just that. But post-first time dine in? I would answer "I don't know and I don't care, just go eat some food there! And ask Ali to add some delish Mid East man'oushes/laham b'ajeens to the menu!" The fact that I love middle eastern food and now know Ali is, but doesn't have those on the menu is seriously the "worst" part of my experience, if you can say that's "a bad thing". The place is new and it IS Italian right down to the instrumentals playing over head but hey a girl can dream right? (Psssst Ali, maybe a second restaurant on Naco that's Mid East food? This side of town needs more of your gift of food not to mention a Mid East place to dine in!) The ambiance is relaxing but not too fancy that you can't just stop in for something on your way home from the gym. They had 4 lunch specials plus a dish of the day listed up front (lunch til 3!) and even things like calamari and calzones (not on the lunch special yesterday) were nicely priced. The cakes look to die for and that includes cheesecake, and looks to be at the least a good selection of beer and wine if not liquor (I didn't see any hard bottles, but hey there's a bar next door if you wanna get drunk okay?) The service from Lacey was helpful, sweet and stellar when I needed ie limes for my water or extra sauce for my food. I ordered calamari which came up quick and THESE GUYS KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING 2wheh the grill your lemon so you can get more juice out without becoming a cold sticky mess on your hot fried food. The tomato sauce is bright and cheery and according to Mike, one of the cooks I spoke with, yes they make the sauce in house, no pasty concentrate in a bag here, and it shows. Being Italian I loooove fresh tomato sauce but usually too much acid - whatever their recipe is? None of that. I originally was going to get pizza cause I wanted melty stringy cheese but as I'd recently had pizza and saw that I could get a calzone with artichokes (yaaaaas yall, artichokes are soooo good on pizza, just try it!) I got that and expected mostly mushy, ricotta filling. Well. My calzone was HUGE first of all, and the outside bakes up to a nice "cracker crisp" crunch at the edges, plenty of pineapple and really tasty Canadian bacon (whole rounds, not weird chunky bits), and stringy, melty, don't wind this around your freshly pierced tongue unless you wanna cry (another story another time; my first meal w a mouth piercing was manicotti ‍‍) mozzarella, although yes there seemed to be some ricotta in there as well. Again, same bright cheery sauce and they even gave me a side of oregano and ground garlic (it's what we Texans who know NY pizza drench our slices in before we fold 'em!) to add into my cheesy mixture. I would have liked more artichokes - there were maybe three in the whole calzone, but at least unlike other places, there was something of toppings not just cheese in every bite. I wanted dessert but it just wouldn't fit, so oh well, guess I'll have to become a regular. Thankfully I am nearby enough to walk off the calories, because while they look good too, I don't plan to try a salad before I try allllll things gooey; pizza, tres leches, cheesesteak.... The cashier is extremely rude, but the gyro is surprisingly awesome considering it is a pizzaria. The tzatziki is the best I have ever had! Also the tiramisu is amazing,, although I had to wait an hour for it to defrost because it was given to me frozen. Definitely a spot to go for Italian food. They do a great job on the pasta and pizza creations. I'm big into Philly cheesesteaks, so I went for that. It was good, but not what I'm used to. Kind of reminded me of a Poppy's Pizza type cheesesteak. I'm guessing that's an Italian rendition of the iconic sandwich. Beware though, it only comes by itself, so you have to add fries and a drink. It can get pricey with a large crowd, but we enjoyed the customer service and the taste of the food. I think I'll just try a calzone next time. My wife's was really good. We also had the breaded mushrooms. They were fried well, so no complaints there at all. Lastly, my wife and I ordered two slices of cheesecake. She got the Oreo and I got Turtle. I might have forgotten what authentic cheesecake taste like, so the grainy crust threw me off. It wasn't bad though, and I enjoyed the soft creamy texture. Today was my second time at the Judson location. The first time was fantastic. Today, not so much. Hyped it up to family that had never been there, and sad to say no one in the family will be back. We waited forever for the food, like an hour for all the plates to come out. Excuse after excuse was given as to why the cooks were taking so long. We sat there and watched others who came in after us get their food. One of the last plates that were actually brought out had plastic in it. One plate never even came out and was told by the lady that she guessed he wasn't meant to eat that sandwich. So many excuses were given and we were told that there was not a manager on site. They did refund the two meals and we were told the owners were notified. But it was not worth the money or time. read more

I've been to the Judson location several times without issue. Today was very different. We experienced incredibly slow service (as in over an hour to get what we ordered, one item never came at all), burned food and food with plastic in it. Our concerns were met with excuses from the staff, an overall bad attitude, and no attempts to remedy the mistakes that were made. We were reluctantly refunded for 2 items after being told there wasn't a manager or owner on-site to approve the transactions. I'm not sure I've ever experienced such poor customer service before. It was such a disappointment. Needless to say, we will not be returning. read more

I've been here four times. When they first opened, they were friendly and had (and still have) generous portions. Last time I went, I asked for the eggplant parmesan and asked if I could sub for alfredo sauce on my pasta. Worker said it would cost more but was never actually charged more for on the tab. Little bit of an attitude, but I understand that most restaurants don't like people asking for changes to the menu items. I went again recently and asked for the same thing. Same worker came up to me and was training a new worker. Aggressive demeanor despite none of the words she said being rude. Said I could either have marinara on all of it or alfredo on all of it, no half and half. I ask if I can buy a side of alfredo instead. She said yes, $4 for a 4oz cup of alfredo "because we make it in homemade". A bit expensive compared to the rest of their menu pricing, but I say yes anyway and pay for the extra charge. It comes out and it's a small 2oz cup (not 4oz like it was charged on the receipt) and the alfredo sauce is separated and chunky. You can't allow the one training your workers to treat your customers poorly. Will not be going back, will be telling people I talk to about my experiences there. read more

Ali's Pizzaria on Judson road next door to La Petite is SO much MORE than pizza! It has a full Italian menu as well as wings and hamburgers. The atmosphere is ultra-casual. They have a bank of 9 TVs all tuned to different channels and a nice deck outside. You order at the counter and get your own drinks, but the waitress brings the food to your table and the food is on china plates. The pasta isn't quite of the same caliber as Purple Garlic, Zios, Maggianos, or Paesanos, but it is adequate and they have generous portions. The marinara sauce on the spaghetti wasn't spicy enough for me, but if you like it on the sweet side, it was ok. I liked the meatballs. The focaccia bread was great. The side salad was great, with lots of variety and their hamburgers are huge. They also have a great dessert selection with 6 kinds of cake and 3 kinds of cheesecake, along with Cannoli. Service was great. We didn't try the pizza, ironically. They also have wine and a variety of bottled alcoholic options. Overall, if you are in a casual mood, it is great. I'd go here instead of Pizza Hut, for sure. read more

Decently priced, but I was disappointed they advertised themselves as NY style pizza. The crust was not at all foldable; it was traditional crust not NY style. Maybe if we had of ordered an xl instead of a large? Regardless I would put it on par with papa johns or dominos for thickness. The flavor of the pizza was good and they went minimal on the sauce (good flavor as well) which was nice. If you want a quality regular pie this is it. I'd go elsewhere if you've had authentic NY style pizza and expect it to be similar. I wish I had of tried dessert because it did look really good. This was the 2nd time I'd been here, first time they didn't add the mushrooms on my pizza, but definitely charged me for them. So, I placed a phone to-go order last night, 1 cheesesteak stromboli and one mozzarella + 3 toppings. The cashier tried to charge for "extra toppings" that were included. When I called her out on it, instead of fixing the way she put it in the register she said she'll give me a discount. Then, we got home and both were raw in the middle and mine had canned mushrooms. Please don't use canned mushrooms if you're trying to be "Italian!" Very disappointing!!! read more
