I was confused by the service the night we came in. The pizza was perfect, as usual. The Detroiter is crispy, chewy, buttery, and all the delicious things rolled into this pillowy goodness. We ordered the arugula salad with goat cheese, they being it the salad and say they were out of goat cheese, and I was okay with it. Then they come back and say, we did have gorgonzola. I was confused. So they put down the cheese and it's goat cheese. Anyway, the salad was incredible, but let's be real, the goat cheese makes ALL the difference. My brother suggested this place, and it did not disappoint. He honestly needs to join yelp. Place was super nice. Medical center area. And the outside dining was super nice. We did eat inside but the decor was amazing. I loved the story behind them being Detroit style. Our server was super fun and busy busy busy. She still had time to answer our questions, get our refills, and was super intuitive regarding to go boxes. We skipped the appetizer because we wanted to eat more pizza. And both were amazing. Finally got to try some Detroit style pizza! Stopped by during lunch and service was fast and attentive. I ate outside as they have a lovely view of san Antonio on the hill. They have a great lunch special that comes with 2 Detroit style pizzas, a drink and a salad. The pizza came out hot, crunchy and oh so cheesy! A little on the salty side but the salad adds a great balance. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for something different but comfortable like pizza parking is super easy. I've been here a couple of times, and it was my first time trying Detroit style pizza. However, it will not be my last. I'm in love with this place! It's a thick crust, but it's a bit more crispy when compared with Chicago style pizza. The crust is a little buttery tasting, and it comes out crispy (but not overly so). The sauce is just a little bit on the sweet side, but it's drizzled over the top of the pizza, so it's not covered in it. The service is great, and they have a couple of beers on tap. Me and my fiancé were SO excited to try this place but ended up disappointed. My fiancé is from Detroit and I had just come back from MI so we decided to stop by on a Friday night. We walked in an everything seemed to go well until we were seated. They sat us in a corner right next to a big party and left us. There were plenty of open table with a view outside so when the hostess came back (3 min later) we asked nicely if we could move. We were immediately met with an attitude and it only went on from there. Our new waitress was dismissive to everything we asked for. My fiancé order Fygos while I was in the restroom but then realized they had Vernons (while he was ordering). He asked to get that instead and she said no because "the order was already sent to the bar". We ordered artichokes and got Brussels sprouts. It took her 10 min to come back so we could correct it. It just felt as if everything we asked or needed was an issue and it wasn't even that busy. We would ask for something and she would give us a dirty look or just walk away. Both of us were so confused. It could have been our fault for asking to move in the first place, but I don't think it should be held over us the whole meal. Not only that, our pizzas came out a different times (like 5 min apart). And if I am being completely transparent, the pizza didn't seem authentic. We really wanted to love this place and it could have just been the service that made it bad. But will definitely NOT be going back to this location. read more

Decided to head to Via 313 for dinner with family. Pros: 1. We were seated quickly, and the service was friendly. 2. We tried a rum old fashion and vodka cherry limeade. Both were tasty, though the limeade could have had a little less ginger and a little more cherry. 3. The pepperoni pizza was solid! Crispy crust, thick cheese, and lots of pepperoni. 4. The dessert with partially baked cookies and vanilla ice cream was yummy to end the dinner. Cons: 1. They forgot a drink, but the manager made up with dessert. 2. Tried this place for the first time, and everyone was very welcoming. They offer both Detroit-style pizza and traditional thin-crust round pizza. They're not common in Texas, but they're absurdly delicious when made by Via! The bar style pizzas offered are more standard looking pizzas. They're also very good, but the square ones are better. Try the carnivore if you love meat, the omnivore for a nice balance, or any vegetarian pizza for a slightly cleaner touch. There's not a bad choice. Even the cocktails are solid. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Arrive for an early lunch to have the place to yourself. It will be full by 1215. Service is prompt and not overbearing. Located conveniently in medical Center. We did go on national margarita day and they had their margaritas for $3.13 the whole day. I ordered two. I could definitely tell you they were strong. They're small size but potent. Of course, I had to get a pizza. I have always ordered their Detroit style, but this time I decided to order the normal thin crust pizza (bar style). I went with the four cheese (MC5). The small one could definitely feed two people sometimes three depending how much people eat. The thin crust pizza was very good. It was as crispy as I like it. The pizza here is delicious. My favorite is the jalapeño popper pizza that used to be limited time and I am so thankful they made it a full-time menu option. I will say it is a little pricey, which is always a factor in my reviews, but the quality of food is good. read more

I was excited to try Via 313 Pizza, as I'm from the Detroit area and have yet to find pizza as good as it is in Michigan. Via 313 Pizza was pretty darn good! It reminded me of the style of pizza from a local chain in Michigan called Buddy's. The sauce was decent, but not my favorite. The toppings were yummy and it was nice and crispy on the edges (we got Detroit style, but they also have thin crust). Not the best dough I've ever had, but decent. The ambiance is great. It's hip, cozy, and a bit gritty. Similar to Detroit! The booth was comfortable. There was even an outdoor area to eat. There weren't a lot of people when we went around 5:30 on a week day. The server was great! Super kind and attentive. On point and never had to look around for her. I was happy with the service. Prices were decent. About the same as a not-Marco's pizza. We've been wanting to try this pizza spot for a while now. It was a nice spot. Not a huge dine in but they had booths and tables outside as well. They had gluten free Detroit style pizzas, gf breadsticks, and a gf cinnamon stick dessert. We got everything. They were all good but I don't think we prefer Detroit style pizza. Upon arrival to the restaurant the clumsy staff bumped into eachother and spilled drinks all over the table in front of me . I then politely waited without question until a table was ready for me just to wait another 20 minutes until I had to ask a server to take my order after I watched her take 2 tables orders that arrived after me . There are as many styles of pizza as there are the different cities that claim them as theirs. But for a point of reference the three main ones are: New York, Chicago and Detroit style. Each has an etiquette or unspoken codes that goes alongside with each. Subjectively it's all a preference for one over the other one. Via 313 Pizza does Detroit style pizza and it does it well. I say this as not many pizza places carry "Faygo Pop", a Michigan staple. On a cold inclement weather afternoon instead of opting for soup I was craving pizza. It's located kinda in the Medical Center area in the midst of evergrowing franchises. And I know there is one in Austin, as circumstance prevented me from trying it. I did see the "Elder Eats" segment which featured it and I was anticipating a much bigger space. Instead it is a small, intimate but charming restaurant with limited seating. My first impression of it was visible signage. You wait to be seated. A server, who I might add was excellent seated me at a booth. Another thing I appreciated was the simple but straightforward menu. With items named "MC5" or "The Stooges" I thought this was a clever touch and nod to the lore of Michigan. On the drink end they offer a humble yet sufficient beverage list that will please everyone. They carry wine, serve cocktails and have a small but impressive beer taplist. Since it was my first time here the server, who was ultra friendly and patient recommended "The Detroiter." So without further ado I ordered that and a pint of Bell's "Two Hearted-Ale", again from Michigan. In the time between ordering and waiting for items I usually survey a place. I really like the cozy but laid back vibe here. From the neon sign as you enter that says, "Everything is going to be alright" to the small bar counter space the goal is to create an intimate experience. I'm not sure if it were my eyes that fixated on the appetizers on the menu or my Yelp telekinetic powers but I was sent complimentary meatball apps. They were excellent with a tomato sauce that showcased them, a preview of what was to come. "The Detroiter" is a pizza with a voluminous dough layered by cheese, a pile of scooped pepperoni and a river of sauce. I could sense the oregano, the herbs in the sauce which were sweet but not overwhelming. This is where the unspoken pizza code comes into play. The ratio of cheese versus sauce and vice versa is subjective and will illicit different results. Me, just load up my pizza with sauce until I'm completely submerged. At that capacity VIA 313 Pizza delivered on all ends. From the cozy, intimate space, excellent service to the awesome food everyone will find something here to laud. Sure I came on a cold inclement weather afternoon but it brightened my day. And what other place does the playlist change from "The Sword", heavy rock to "The Supremes" Motown in the span of 5 minutes. We both got waters- they don't have sweet tea, only unsweetened with sweetener on the side. We started with the cheese sticks .. they were mid. Nothing special about them. I wish we would have tried the meatballs. We got the large Detroit style carnivore pizza. The sausage on this pizza was delicious, other than that, we didn't think there was anything too special about it. It's a good thick, fluffy pizza. I didn't realize it wouldn't come with sauce between the dough and cheese, only sauce on top of the toppings. I'm a sauce girl, I would ask for more sauce next time. I do like that the crust is pretty crispy. The cinnamon sticks were delicious, but again not something I would rave about. They use the same bread that they use for the cheese sticks but add cinnamon, sugar, and cream cheese icing. The ambassador pizza had marinara sauce, big slice did pepperoni and a lot of flavor! It was like a more saucier version of a pepperoni pizza. The crust/deep dish was very delicious! The Cadillac pizza had ricotta cheese, prosciutto, and balsamic glaze. I didn't like this pizza as much. The main flavor was just the prosciutto. I would have liked a bit more sweetness from the glaze or the addition of some glazed fruit. The slices of prosciutto was also really big, so the whole pizza seemed one dimensional in flavor. It's like I just ate a handful of a charcuterie board and some bread at the same time. The beet salad was okay. I liked the candied nuts and apple slices.
