Gave this spot a try while visiting San Antonio and although I appreciated the interior and how homey it felt, the food was a miss. The Bianco Pizza was good, the crust was fluffy and the bottom was crisp but I didn't taste much of the ricotta. I also had to wait about 40 minutes for it. I was really dissatisfied with the pasta. The Rigatoni was undercooked, it was slightly hard and not in the al dente way. The tomato sauce lacked depth and the meatballs were slightly dry. I'm really surprised to get the horrible customer service that I received today. The manager or owner who is usually normally nice and a good person to talk to was a demon today. I was waiting for 30 minutes after I was told it only be about 15 minutes and when he finally brought my food, I was like man you guys are taking a long time. You told me 15 minutes and it's been 30. Right away said we're busy. I said I've been waiting a while then he was like you want me to refund your money after already paid. I said no. Just give me my food. After me already paying and wasting my time he was trying to keep my food I already paid for. He was extremely rude and use profanity. I mean, he just escalated this out of nowhere. Again in the past, he's been super nice to be my girlfriend and I'm not sure if he didn't remember me or what but maybe he was just in a bad mood or I caught him on a bad day but needless to say I will never come back to his establishment again. to use profanity towards a paying client when I just simply asked why were you guys so late is unacceptable. He blew up and lost it. Maybe he is on his period bleeding marinara sauce. Not sure but that was uncalled for. Horrible customer service 1 star. Will never return even though we like his food. My friend ordered a blue moon in a fancy glass (lol), my husband ordered a michelob ultra on draft, and I ordered a sweet white wine (moscato). The outside seating was very nice. The weather was on the cooler side but not anything too unbearable. The heater where we sat was not working but overall it was still nice. They also had indoor seating and seating in the back. No matter where you sit it's nice. Our pizza did take time to come out. However, you could tell that it was all freshly made. I have to say that the pizza is the star of this show. I enjoyed every single bite when we did get our food. Not one complaint from our table. We left extremely satisfied. Definitely would recommend this place for a nice date night, family night, celebration, whatever! The restaurant is nice and staff is very attentive. It's $1.50 each bottle, even for the ones originally placed on the table. The experience felt racially motivated and left me feeling disrespected and unwelcome. I will not return. Full Review: I'm writing this review with disappointment and sadness, as Pizza Visuvio was once a place I truly enjoyed. As a Black male and military veteran, I never expected to feel so disrespected and unwelcome at a local restaurant I once supported. I placed an order for two pizzas for pickup. After picking up my order and returning to my truck, I walked back inside to use the restroom before heading home. I was approached by a man who asked if I had been helped. I responded, "Yes." He then asked what I had ordered. I repeated that I had already been helped, confused by the repeated questioning. To my surprise, he continued to press me, asking again what I had ordered. Shocked and feeling targeted, I asked to speak to a manager. He informed me that he was the owner. At that moment, I felt like I was being profiled--as if I didn't belong there. Despite being a paying customer who had just walked out with two pizzas, I was treated with suspicion and interrogated without reason. The experience made me feel as though I was being judged not by my actions, but by my appearance. I noticed they were also asking a homeless individual to leave, and perhaps the owner mistook me for someone who hadn't purchased anything. But here's the issue: the very employees the owner turned to and asked if he had done anything wrong were the same ones who had just helped me and watched me leave with my order in hand. This place once held sentimental value for my family--my wife enjoyed Pizza Visuvio as one of her first meals after giving birth to our youngest. But after this experience, I cannot see myself ever returning. To the owner: Treating customers with respect should be the bare minimum. Profiling someone based on how they look, regardless of intent, leaves lasting harm. There was a screaming child on the patio whose parents were enjoying and encouraging the caterwauling. I So I took my pizza home but in the 13 minutes to get to my place the pie was lukewarm. Ordered tonight in the Yahoo app with service by GrubHub. I paid for a "side of extra sauce" but I didn't get it. Not sure who to blame but not cool. Anyway, about the food, so I got the Vesuvio. It was good, would totally order again and probably will. The crust is not very yeasty, i.e. not much character, a neutral taste but the ingredients are more tasty as a result.
