My family told me about this place and it is only a couple minutes from my house. Once we arrived the parking lot was huge, and there were people everywhere! We walked in and you can see so many servers and people moving everywhere. There was a line for seating but it went quick. The business was huge and the pizzas the servers were walking around with were just as huge! Once seated there were tv's everywhere, the bar was popping out drinks fast, and the servers were running smooth with everyone's orders. It was the one of worst service experience we have had. One person ordered an ice tea and I ordered a beer and asked for a cold glass. The tea came pretty quick. The beer came after the pizza which took approx 20 minutes or more. The pizza was sort dumped on the table which we put back on platter. The dumping of the pizza was an accident we think. We were never asked if we needed more tea or another beer or anything else until I got up and went to counter and asked for the ticket and a box for pizza. It was not a matter of being too busy. What can I say about Big Lou's. Well, this place is a great place to bring your kids to see a big ass pizza. The parking lot is pretty big, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The wait does get long sometimes. We were lucky to have a party cancel in front of us, so we got to sit inside. Two bars, and the bartenders are super cool. We were really looking forward to trying Big Lou's while visiting from out of town, but unfortunately the service was extremely disappointing. We arrived around 5:38 p.m. and were seated about 30 minutes later, which was understandable. However, after being seated, our server took our drink order and then disappeared for long periods of time. We had to ask another server for assistance, and our pizza didn't arrive until about an hour after ordering. During that time, no one checked on us or refilled our drinks. To make matters worse, our order of two dozen wings never arrived, so we eventually canceled it after watching other tables receive their food. When we finished eating, I had to track down our server just to get the check. I understand restaurants get busy, but a little communication and attention would have gone a long way. Came in for a late night dinner after work. Entering the restaurant feels like walking into a sign bar. SO cool! They have neon signs and logos all over the walls. The aroma of fresh pizza really fills the air. We came in as a party of 2 looking for a table. The host sat us at a table in the middle of larger birthday parties (not the best idea) as you can imagine we were soon forgotten. However, they have an amazing bar towards the back of the main dining room, which is perfect for smaller parties. We figured after sitting for about 10mins without service (not even water), it was ok to politely excuse ourselves to the back bar. TL;DR: I organized a 20-person event around the largest pizza in San Antonio, confirmed it multiple times, and paid a deposit. When we arrived, the pizza was never made, staff seemed confused, no manager apologized or explained what happened, and we were later offered someone else's pizza after we had already made alternative plans. The lack of communication and planning left me spending far more than planned and feeling disappointed and embarrassed. I run a Facebook group focused on making friends in San Antonio, and we were all really excited to meet for food. Someone suggested trying the largest pizza in San Antonio, which sounded like a fun, memorable idea. I called on Sunday to ask for details and was quoted an estimate. I was told the pizza would serve 30-35 people. I called again on Tuesday to confirm everything and book space for 20 people. I paid a $50 deposit and clearly explained that this was a "making friends" event and that we'd like an area where people could move around and socialize. We were excited to eat the largest pizza in SATX. I was assured this wouldn't be a problem. On the day of the event, I called again at 1:50 PM to reconfirm, Virginia, 20 people, largest pizza at 6:30 PM. Everything was confirmed. When I arrived about 10 minutes early to set up name tags, the host seemed confused and disappeared for several minutes. Eventually, we were seated in a cramped area. While it technically fit 20 people, we had to pull tables ourselves due to a lack of seating, and there was no room to move or socialize beyond the person next to you. The biggest issue came when I asked about the pizza. The host looked completely confused, and it became clear that the "largest pizza" was never going to be made at all. This was the main reason our group chose this location, and I had to announce to everyone that it wasn't happening. No apology was offered from a manager or explanation of what may had happen After some time, once everyone had come to terms with what had happened, we decided to request that we be moved to an outside area that we had originally discussed. At that point, we were offered someone else's largest pizza instead. By then, this felt wrong and honestly exhausting. We had already gone through the effort of explaining the situation to our group and coming up with alternative plans, so this offer only added to the frustration. I eventually asked to speak to a manager just to communicate my concerns, but it was unclear who was actually in charge. Multiple employees jumped in, which added to the confusion Once we were moved and assigned a server, Tristan was fantastic. Despite everything, our group still managed to have a good time--but only because of the people and the excellent service from our server, not because of the planning or communication from management or the other service we were provided before Tristan. I understand miscommunications happen, but I did everything in my power to ensure this event ran smoothly. The interior they keep sitting us at has a sports bar vibe, with dark rooms and numerous TVs showing various channels. I'm used to it now, but it seemed super dark to me when I first came. Service here is consistently good. For the best experience and shorter wait times, I recommend visiting between 1:00 and 4:00 PM on weekdays. We went on a Friday around 5 or 6 PM and it was still manageable, but on a Saturday at 3 PM, we waited 30-45 minutes for a table for two. Honestly, it was worth the wait still. Heads up: They've recently implemented a policy requiring an ID to match the credit card used for payment. While I don't mind showing ID, I prefer paying directly at the cashier rather than having the waiter take it. Parking can be confusing...there is parking up front and along the side but you don't go into the front door. It says enter from the back. So head to the back for parking. They have several handicapped parking spots right at the front of the back lot. They have plenty of parking but might be tight on weekends. Plenty of room to get a rollator or wheelchair in the door and to the hostess stand. Had a reservation and waited in the bar area for rest of the group to arriv. It's the experience that you come for...a 42 inch pizza which about covers the table. My second time here. First was during Covid and both times getting the 42 inch pizza with others.
