What can I say about Big Lou's. Well, this place is a great place to bring your kids to see a big ass pizza. The parking lot is pretty big, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The wait does get long sometimes. We were lucky to have a party cancel in front of us, so we got to sit inside. Two bars, and the bartenders are super cool. We ended up ordering wings and a 20" pizza. There was also larger pizza ordered as well. Plenty of TVs on with sports and shows on. Plenty of space to sit, for sure. read more

First time coming here great service everyone was super friendly and polite. The restaurant itself looks so nice cool lighting. From what I saw they're super large pizzas seem to be pretty popular those things are humongous! Very cool we got the chicken Alfredo pasta 5 drinks and a custom 14" pizza perfect for a family of 5. Wow! We were looking for pizza. This was the 3rd place we stopped at to get a pie. The first place was closed, the second place was not what we were looking for so we landed heard. Third time is a charm! This restaurant was so much more than expected. The ambiance is eclectic and so are the staff and customers! Came in for a late night dinner after work. Entering the restaurant feels like walking into a sign bar. SO cool! They have neon signs and logos all over the walls. The host sat us at a table in the middle of larger birthday parties (not the best idea) as you can imagine we were soon forgotten. However, they have an amazing bar towards the back of the main dining room, which is perfect for smaller parties. We figured after sitting for about 10mins without service (not even water), it was ok to politely excuse ourselves to the back bar. I paid a $50 deposit and clearly explained that this was a "making friends" event and that we'd like an area where people could move around and socialize. We were excited to eat the largest pizza in SATX. I was assured this wouldn't be a problem. On the day of the event, I called again at 1:50 PM to reconfirm, Virginia, 20 people, largest pizza at 6:30 PM. Everything was confirmed. When I arrived about 10 minutes early to set up name tags, the host seemed confused and disappeared for several minutes. Eventually, we were seated in a cramped area. While it technically fit 20 people, we had to pull tables ourselves due to a lack of seating, and there was no room to move or socialize beyond the person next to you. The biggest issue came when I asked about the pizza. The host looked completely confused, and it became clear that the "largest pizza" was never going to be made at all. This was the main reason our group chose this location, and I had to announce to everyone that it wasn't happening. No apology was offered from a manager or explanation of what may had happen After some time, once everyone had come to terms with what had happened, we decided to request that we be moved to an outside area that we had originally discussed. At that point, we were offered someone else's largest pizza instead. By then, this felt wrong and honestly exhausting. We had already gone through the effort of explaining the situation to our group and coming up with alternative plans, so this offer only added to the frustration. I eventually asked to speak to a manager just to communicate my concerns, but it was unclear who was actually in charge. Multiple employees jumped in, which added to the confusion Once we were moved and assigned a server, Tristan was fantastic. Despite everything, our group still managed to have a good time--but only because of the people and the excellent service from our server, not because of the planning or communication from management or the other service we were provided before Tristan. I understand miscommunications happen, but I did everything in my power to ensure this event ran smoothly. The Honey BBQ and Sweet BBQ wings are tasty, but they were a bit too spicy for our taste. They're a good size, but we rather save room for more pizza. The interior they keep sitting us at has a sports bar vibe, with dark rooms and numerous TVs showing various channels. I'm used to it now, but it seemed super dark to me when I first came. Service here is consistently good. For the best experience and shorter wait times, I recommend visiting between 1:00 and 4:00 PM on weekdays. We went on a Friday around 5 or 6 PM and it was still manageable, but on a Saturday at 3 PM, we waited 30-45 minutes for a table for two. Honestly, it was worth the wait still. Heads up: They've recently implemented a policy requiring an ID to match the credit card used for payment. While I don't mind showing ID, I prefer paying directly at the cashier rather than having the waiter take it. Parking can be confusing...there is parking up front and along the side but you don't go into the front door. It says enter from the back. So head to the back for parking. They have several handicapped parking spots right at the front of the back lot. They have plenty of parking but might be tight on weekends. Plenty of room to get a rollator or wheelchair in the door and to the hostess stand. Had a reservation and waited in the bar area for rest of the group to arriv. It's the experience that you come for...a 42 inch pizza which about covers the table. My second time here. First was during Covid and both times getting the 42 inch pizza with others. The service was terrible. I was even warned about the bad service, by friends that had been there before. When we arrived, there was a line at the hostess stand. We were part of a 14 person birthday party. The wait was not long, and everyone in line, was seated pretty quick. Hostess was great. Once we sat down, the server came to take drink and food orders. The drinks and food came out in a timely manner. The problem was that I had to ask for tabasco 3 times and it took 20 minutes to actually get it. The waitress only came to the table, to drop drinks and food off. We finished our beers and wanted to order more but couldn't find our waitress. We would try to get the other waitstaff's attention for dipping sauces and refills but they acted like they didn't hear us. Maybe they didn't want to help us because we weren't their table? After some of us had finished a slice and the others had let theirs go cold, a young man turned around when he heard us saying, "excuse me." We asked for dipping sauces and got them quickly. Most of our drinks were empty while we were still eating. Our waitress finally came by with our checks, when we had stopped eating and all of us were just sitting there, waiting. I've been in the industry for 15+ years. I believe in tipping well. To Insure Prompt Service. We asked if she received the service charge, that is added to large parties. She said servers only receive a small percentage of it. So we tipped on top of the extra charge. She still got a 10% tip because bussers, and bartenders need to be paid. I am not a fan of leaving low reviews, especially when it is my first visit, but I don't think this one can be avoided. First the good, very nice front end staff, very accurate wait times, and prompt seating after the wait. Unfortunately, from there is where it went down hill. We were warned that they were very busy and that it might be about 5 minutes until our server would be at our table, that was closer to 10 minutes, without even a quick stop by that to tell us he was busy or he would be back soon. The server comes by and goes right to "I'm sure you are ready to order food" no mention of drinks or anything, so we ask for some waters, and he says, Oh i will bring 7 waters for everyone, normal. Then we asked for a few sodas, he warned us that they only had extra large Styrofoam cups and they currently didnt have any lids. No biggie in the moment. We order our food, ask for the wings and breadsticks to come out first, since we knew we would have a longer wait for our 42" pizza. he said no problem took our order and went on his way. Drinks came fast, but my beer took about another 10 minutes to come to the table. I had asked for pickle juice with the beer as well. Initially he said, this bar is out, ill go check our other bar for you. He passed by many times with no mention, until I had to ask him again, he said he forgot but he would go check. He comes back, said they were out, I asked if they put pickles on the pizza maybe i can get it from there, he said he would check and if not he would bring me a ramakin of pickles. That never happened, in fact he never even mentioned it again. Breadsticks come out, AMAZING, best thing we had eaten the whole night. Then as we are waiting for the pizza, no wings. He comes back and says, your pizza is finishing up, and the wings will be out after that. We asked for the wings, FIRST, but I guess he forgot about that as well. Then comes the massive pizza, certainly a spectacle for sure. The spectacle is where the fun stopped, sadly. Pizza gets dropped off, we ask for "buckets of ranch" he said he will get us some, he comes back a bit later with the Wings, no ranch, we ask again, and then finally a 3rd time before we get it brought out to us. Keep in mind, they are busy, I get that, but standard waiter stuff should be the normal. No refills of drinks, no checking on things other than the intial how are things when he brought the wings out. Pretty bad... As for the Pizza, the toppings tasted good, but the pizza was doughy, under cooked in the crust and unfortunately for a pizza of that size, you are handcuffed, you cant ask them to cook it more as it is a novelty item and you might as well just leave at that point because you'd be waiting a long time. We dealt with that, enjoyed the experience the best we could and asked for boxes and our bill. Now they do warn you that paying for your food with Credit card, does add a 3% surcharge, and they need to see ID. Why they walk off with your ID is odd, but its neither here nor there. What IS an issue is that they don't tell you before hand that you are being charged $1 for a water. It just appears on the bill. We had it removed but there was a bit of a standoff over it. I should have known when they were out of cups, lids and dont bring you any utensils that you are going to be in for a ride. Also the big sign on the front of the building that says "We are hiring, apply inside to help us stay open" should have provided more concern. They are clearly cost cutting, and it shows tremendously. Lets not forget to mention their restroom situation, walking to the area for the restrooms, smells horrendously of Urine, and inside the men's restroom, they might as well not even have urinals. There was as much water/urine on the floor as there was in the toilets. Very disgusting, and quite unsanitary. I know this place is very popular due to their massive pizza, and they have been around a long time, but I don't think I will ever recommend anyone try it and I Certainly wont be back for another visit. I think the only reason I am even giving 2 stars instead of 1, is the giant beer mug for only $10 and the bomb ass Garlic Bread Sticks... Otherwise, I would probably give a 1 or even a .5 star if Yelp allowed it. read more

They have a policy that states any party with 10 guests or more will be charged a service fee. We luckily caught this but it was unfortunately after we had already paid. We now have to wait for our refund to go through and we're told it would process in about a week. What an inconvenience, and honestly it felt very shady that they tried to slap on an extra $20 and felt like we wouldn't notice. Went to this restaurant hoping to have a great lunch, but wow being hit with extra fees really disappointed. We were a group of 10 - so that started a fee which I get. Then $1 for water, that better not be faucet water. Then a fee to use my credit card as well. Then the bill could only by split in 4 groups- not sure why it could not be split individually, but that is the rule- and want to respect. The food was great, that I have to say was perfect. Portion sizes are big ! You can definitely share a plate if needed. My other issue is they might be short on staff, just to get drinks took some time.
