We were excited to try the lobster ravioli, but it fell a bit short of expectations, as it had quite a fishy flavor, not that "buttery" feel that they told us it would have. I am not being dramatic when I say this is the best Italian restaurant I've ever experienced. Nonna Osteria is cozy and intentional just like their menu. Every dish feels thoughtfully curated with tried-and-true recipes rooted in Chef Luca and his family's Northern Italian traditions. This is the kind of place where quality takes priority over quantity. Our server, Gary, was fantastic. He was friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and passionate about Italian food and wine. His recommendations were spot-on and his enthusiasm felt so genuine. We started with a bread basket accompanied by a little sampling of tapenade, which was savory, briny, and a perfect complement to the warm bread. Came in with a group of four, we kicked things off with the burrata starter--a surprisingly fun and shareable adventure of baked burrata, fresh crostini, roasted cauliflower, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, and basil cream. There was a lot happening on the plate, but it all worked beautifully together. For our entrées, we ordered the Tartufo, Cinghiale, Bolognese, and Carbonara. And let me just say, the Tartufo was a full-on dinner performance. Gary brought out steaming hot tagliatelle pasta and tossed it tableside inside a giant wheel of Parmesan. He then topped it with crab meat in brown butter before finishing it with a generous shaving of truffle. Every bite was like a perfectly timed symphony of flavors--rich, savory, buttery, and earthy, with nothing outshining the other. I'd put this dish up against anyone's nonna. I sampled the other three entrées as well, and every one was delicious. The gnocchi in the Cinghiale is an absolute must-try--pillowy, texturally delightful, and packed with flavor. What a lovely little restaurant with welcoming, friendly staff. The menu was diverse, as was the wine list. The price point is certainly higher than indicated on yelp. I had dinner with a good friend and we decided to share dishes. We LOVED the burrata platter. The combination of perfectly cooked fresh vegetables and the burrata was an all-around melt-in-your-mouth experience. The bolognese offered freshly made pasta, which, unfortunately, stuck together a bit, but it was quite tasty. Brought my wife and daughter today when we had to make last minute changes in plans. The menu was intriguing so we challenged our taste buds and normal Preferences. We started with the "bread" which turned out to be cubes bread with Parmesan cheese and an anchovy sauce....it was amazing! Never thought I'd try anchovy but it was amazing. The filletto I ordered was simply a mouth watering experience everyone should try before dying! The wine sauce with the insanely tender beef with the spinach blended well! My daughter had carbonara that was perfectly cooked and had a great taste. My wife ordered fries but they too were amazing! Our waiter Jesus was an amazing addition to the dining experience where we added top choice selections which were geared across the menu and not just the top dollar items. My best friend and I went to this restaurant without a reservation after a river cruise. We were nervous about being underdressed, but the host was very friendly and sat us promptly. For starters, they bring a focaccia bread with an olive and anchovies tapenade. (We don't like tapenade, but the bread was tasty!) We ordered the caprese, and the fried mozzarella was novel and nice. My zucca ravioli was amazing -- the butternut squash with pesto was tasty. My friend got the Tartufo mixed in the Parmesan bowl, topped with jumbo crab. The market price the night we went was around $70 but well worth it! The dessert was the perfect portion, and very light. Would definitely go again! Things I didn't like as much: (1) the restroom is downstairs. I'm not sure where the elevator is, so I was concerned about accessibility. (2) My drink was very strong, which likely isn't an issue for many. (3) The affogato espresso tasted a little burnt, but maybe it was only having one scoop of gelato. read more

I chose Nonna Osteria to celebrate my birthday lunch while visiting from out of town, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The main reason I chose this restaurant was because of the cheese wheel pasta presentation, but there was absolutely no presentation at all. It was one of the things I was most excited about, so that was very disappointing. The food itself was underwhelming, especially for the price. Our group spent close to $200, and the portions were incredibly small. It wasn't even enough to comfortably share, and we all left still hungry. The value just wasn't there. To make matters worse, we couldn't even order cocktails because there were no bartenders on staff. The restaurant was very slow for a Saturday, yet our servers were not very attentive, which made the experience even more frustrating. Since I was celebrating my birthday, I also expected at least a small acknowledgment. Unfortunately, they don't do anything special for birthdays--not even a complimentary dessert or simple celebration--which made the occasion feel even less special. I felt especially bad because my friends came to celebrate with me, and they all left just as disappointed as I was. We had been looking forward to this meal, and it simply didn't live up to the expectations or the price. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it based on our experience. I don't recommend the Tarfufo at all. It say on the menu it comes with jumbo lump Crab. On the photos you don't see Jumbo crab at all it's just shredded meat. When I tried to share with my table they thought it was chicken. Tried out Nonna Osteria for lunch after checking out the Briscoe Museum. Turns out Nonna Osteria was running their restaurant week menu, a $20 three course prix fixe. Finding the entrance was a bit tricky. You actually enter through the historic Fairmont Hotel entrance. The hotel itself is now part of Hyatt. If you look confused, someone from the front desk will lead you in the right direction. After being seated, water was brought over, and then a choice of lemon, lime, and cucumber clues were offered. We opted for lime-cucumber and lemon-cucumber. For the prix fixe, we opted for the Nonna Caprese and Garden Salad, the Rigatoni and Tagliatelle, and Tiramisu and Gelato. I enjoyed both the garden salad and the Nonna Caprese. The Garden Salad had a nice amount of acidity and savoriness. The Nonna Caprese had fried cheese, accompanied by tomatoes and balsamic. The tomatoes in the Caprese were underwhelming, however. The pasta dishes were less impressive and more boring. They were creamy, but not particularly flavorful. The texture of the pasta was reasonable, and both were piping hot. The Rigatoni could have used quite a bit more of the powdered chili stuff to give it more uumph. The Tagliatelle was composed of four disparate ingredients that happened to live on the same plate: tagliatelle, boar, ricotta, and pickled shallots. Their ricotta that was whipped herbs lacked appreciable flavor. The boar didn't seem seasoned. Nothing melded together. Dessert: I'm sure we could pass on either dessert. The flavors were a bit weak for the tiramisu. The gelato was a standard, forgettable, unimpressive vanilla. Apparently during restaurant week, the restaurant offers gift cards for dining at related restaurants. I'm not sure we'll find an opportunity to use them. The bathrooms are downstairs (in the hotel). Go down the staircase that you passed by when gettingto the restaurant. read more

Oh my goodness the food is delicious. We had the caprese salad for a starter and the mozzarella is fried, but it's delicious. We had the branzino and lobster ravioli and all were so delicious. Everything on the menu looked and sounded great so it was hard to decide what I wanted. The service was even better than the food. Our waitress was really kind and very attentive to us. She recommended a few things which were spot on. The restaurant is very clean and tidy. It's a smaller restaurant so I'd highly recommend reservations. When walking in, they were packed. It looked like there was a convention going on that weekend. The only highlight about this restaurant was our calamari and salad appetizers. Our servers were the reason why we stayed. They both were tag teaming tables and remained uplifting towards us. Moving fwd with our entrees, i got the Branzino and my boyfriend got the Gamberi & Chorizo. We were highly disappointed. The tomato sauce under my branzino tasted store bought. The Gamberi & Chorizo presentation looked sad, like just look at the picture. It looks like something I could have made in my own kitchen, and it lacked flavor. Definitely the best part of the meal, although the gluten free toast was extra brown and crispy. The veggies had great flavor, though. Cons: - Ridiculously overpriced for the quality of the food. - Gluten free pasta was quite overcooked. It was mostly mush by the time I got it. I love that they HAVE gluten free options, but come on, it would help if you cooked them properly. It was barely edible. - Sauce was bland and too sweet. - There was no attempt or offering to make the experience more accessible for my disabled son. Although we did not have reservations, a weekday dinner welcomed us with a more quiet dining experience. There is complimentary homemade focaccia bread and olive-based dip along with a tagliatelle entree that I chose. The meat sauce was so very good with the right amount of tomato and meat to give it a perfect balance of homestyle and elegance. Would absolutely come back again for a special occasion. We enjoyed this restaurant near the Riverwalk. The cinghiale I ordered was delicious. The asparagus felt a bit overpriced for how many you get. My friend ordered the Tartufo which included mixing in a Parmesan wheel tableside with fresh grated truffle! $70 for the Tartufo. Considering it has a good amount of lump crab and fresh truffle in it, plus the cheese wheel service, I would say that's not an unreasonable price. I was a little disappointed with the budino dessert, it tasted like a very basic chocolate pudding. Very simple compared to other budinos I have had. Truth in advertising: I feel like I was totally ripped off and cheated by this restaurant. I am pissed off. I was charged $42 for my Mexican Martini, which I only found out when the bill arrived. Because I had no idea what I was being charged, I had two. So $84 for two Mexican Martinis. Ridiculous. When we arrived they had a very short list of maybe five cocktails, none of which interested me. They have no bottle or draft beer. There is an extensive list of expensive wines but I don't drink wine so that was a non-starter. Instead, there a long list alcohols by type and the waitress said I should choose a brand and a type of drink and they will make it. There are no prices on any of the alcohols. So, I chose Don Julio Reposado which is what they had and what I like. I was not familiar with any of the other tequilas. I ordered a Mexican martini. The night before I paid $13.50 for a Mexican Martini. At Mia Cocina in Dallas they charge $13.00 for generous shot of Don Juio Reposado. So that was my context and my expectation. I never in a million years would imagine that a Mexican Martini could cost $42. I'm sorry, I can't get past the $42 for a Mexican Martini. Plus, the martini was small. You could buy a whole bottle of Don Julio for what they charged for two martinis, and I am pretty sure each martini had less than one shot. Again, ridiculous. The rest: the kid liked her pomodoro. The red sauce was not acidic. The wife's caprese salad was fine. My bolognese was fine although the portion was small and not much meat for $26 or$ 28 or whatever it was. The pasta was fresh. Service was fine. Ambience was fine. But the meal was $200 and we hardly had anything. Outrageous. I would not return to this restaurant. I will always remember it as the time I was ripped off by deceptive pricing practices. read more

The Arancini is amazing, I literally went "oh my gosh" when i took the first bite because it was so amazing. The Focaccia & Tapenade was soooooo amazing, just delicious - if you like Kalamata olives then you'll love the dip. The Patate Fritte (truffle fries) were good as well. I just realized I was using the truffle dip for the fries and for the focaccia as well, really good either way! The carbonara was simple but nicely done. I would LOVE to come dine in person. The other fell a bit short and was under seasoned and missed the par when compared to the appetizer with the sams protein.
