We really wanted to like this place, but the owners, who are mostly expat's, have their heads so far up their butts that this was by far, the WORST vacation we ever had. I have 4 little kids. Kids make noise. I got a notice to keep it quiet, during the day, like 11 am... Are you kidding me?! My kids had to stay in doors, with the windows closed until we left to go to the beach. Our place had no AC, so just imagine how hot it was... The next morning, some kids were yelling at the pool and others running around the neighborhood making noise. IDK if they got a notice or not, but this place is just BS. To top it off, on July 4th, there was a golf cart parade complete with American flags and glitter and, you guessed it, loud noise. Hey, I love the US and celebrating the 4th is in my blood. But don't put your retired, I'm better than you rules on tourists. The same tourists from your same home country. Come on...

The entire perimeter is fenced in with a security guard at the entrance who keeps tabs on everyone in the complex. A 2 bedroom home can accommodate 4 guests, and they are strict about this. You will not be allowed to have additional guests even for a few hours, therefore it is very safe and private. I love the architecture which ranges from Mexican Baroque to traditional Spanish Colonial and the entire compound has cobblestone streets and cement walking paths. There are several little gardens of roses and other lovely flowers making this a great place to take walks and enjoy the scenery. The large pool/jacuzzi area has plenty of lounge chairs and shaded seating, a shuffleboard court, a gym, and a banquet room. There is also a large surfing beach with several sturdy palapas for all guests and owners to use. A visit to Las Gaviotas is certainly a treat. I love to relax, enjoy a good book followed by a leisurely walk, then swimming and a relaxing dinner when I visit.

I had to get into the shower and help my mom in as it's a tub with no way in except about 2 feet high and no rails to hold on to. We will definitely be back!!

As soon as you enter on my left by the doorway was the bedroom which had a wall and windows facing the hallway. I guess, I was fortunate because most of my neighbors were quiet and respectful. The hotel can easily solve this problem by utilizing more sound absorbing materials. The hotel's restaurant has an outstanding breakfast buffet which was the most memorable experience of my stay. It's worth staying here just for the delicious breakfast. Would I stay here again? Most definitely, the hotel's proximity and food made all of the difference. Surrounded by wine the whole weekend through. Private eco-loft with the prettiest view. You can peek out and see the vineyards down below. And watch the stars twinkle putting on a show. They have a gourmet restaurant beside the infinity pool. And they bring your food and drinks so you can stay cool. The good: They offer most things a hotel/resort would, excellent dining, scenic views, valet transport, clean spaces. The bad: The terrain to drive and walk on is rough. To go to the pool/restaurant you will have a short walk through a dirt path which is not terrible but can be freezing in the evening. The only comfortable furniture in the loft will be the bed, otherwise everything else will be industrial wood and cast iron furniture. The shuttle drivers are the only reason they are not getting less of a rating. They were polite, helpful and timely. The front office staff, though nice, were not willing to help with much else. Overall, This is a stunning location for a short stay. Loved soaking in the sunset sitting next to a fire with a glass of cabernet. For the price, I truly believe it could be better! A full length mirror, comfortable seating in the rooms (the poolside furniture is great), better barking set up because its an unpaved rough ascent to the parking area. On my next trip to Valle, I would look for something with more of a homey/hotel feel as Encuentro is more of an experience.
