The businesses in this location prior to Allison's has changed several times over in the last decade and so I didn't expect it to last as long as it did but have been surprised, especially with them sticking it out through Covid, so kudos!!! The space is rather small but open and designed well. I love the bathroom design and the calm blue green colors throughout the space. The windows in the front of the place are just about floor to ceiling which lets in a ton of light. This restaurant is exactly what the neighborhood needed and compliments East Harlem Bottling Co, which is just a few blocks down. This place has a low key sophisticated menu, with a charming chill out vibe!! What I have had on the menu thus far hasn't disappointed. I love- the buffalo shrimp-BOMB, kale salad, steak salad, the burger, the fries, and the beer is cold-can we argue and be mad at any of this?! They have a ton of outside seating and their delivery is spot on, fast and they haven't gotten it wrong yet! I would say that I prefer a back to my bar seat, but that would probably mean I wouldn't leave, so maybe the choice is purposeful. Good food and nice vibes. read more

Great new spot that feel like it's going to fill a slightly higher end gap that's open in this area. It's a nice, well decorated, light corner space with outdoor seating and lots of potential. Feels like a coffee shop meets French bistro type idea. Went for brunch today and tried the lox bagel, pancakes, waffle and croque madame. All were decent and the croque madame really stood out- would absolutely order it again. Prices were also very fair / reasonable and portion size decent. The owners were there and in chatty start up mode- seem like friendly and responsive guys. Still working on getting the liquor license and working on various plans to expand outdoor seating. I see this being good in summer for visitors to the north end of the park too (plus nearby hospital) , and the subway - 6 train- is only a block away. It's also kid friendly for beunch Update - went back (As we loved it the first time), and was disappointed to see all the brunch prices had jumped up from $10-12 to $16 ish. Certainly makes it less of a bargain. I would have thought they would have waited a while to get more traction, and then maybe snuck the prices up a little if they felt they needed to. Saw this place on seamless and had never heard of it, decided to give it a try. The food was GREAT. Ordered a burger with fries - incredibly necessary after the first beach day of the season. The burger was big and delicious, on a soft brioche bun. It came with tomato, onion, and arugula. A spicy ketchup was also a great sauce for the burger! The fries were super crispy and traveled really well - I don't always love ordering fries because they get soggy but these tasted like they came fresh from the kitchen. I will definitely order again - and it's worth it to note, the bag included a little picture asking to order online directly through their website or by calling. I will absolutely do this for the next time as not to hammer them with the seamless fees (looked into it after I saw the note, it's not pretty). The croque madame just as disappointing : it was very greasy, had too much cheese and low quality ingredients all around. The Husband and I were on the east side on a late Friday afternoon and needed a place to dine before seeing a show at El Teatro. A friend recommended Alison - and we are SO glad. We were able to get two seats at the bar (bc Friday and last minute), but the meal was exceptional and the staff friendly and efficient. We started with oysters -bc we Love to start with oysters - and the special "Happy Hour" price was great, as were the oysters, fresh and briny and perfect. The grilled octopus app was THE BEST my Husband EVER HAD (I concur!) and you should order it. The barramundi entree was sensational and perfectly cooked and so tasty and perfectly spicy, while the sole that I had was -also perfect - a plate of cooler and no less gorgeous flavors.
