First, the staff is by far the nicest, friendliest people I think on all of New York. They were welcoming from start to finish and were attentive at every turn. Romaine lettuce, black beans, corn and more graced the bowl and the ranch dressing was excellent and cooled off the blackened chicken nicely. Wings the day before the Super Bowl? We were told the wings is the signature dish and a fan favorite at this spot , so I had to try them. They didn't disappoint. A delicious tangy with a bit of "wow!" sauce on large pieces of wings and drumsticks. Large pieces of carrots and celery and a a creamy slightly blue cheese lumpy dipping sauce. I took two pieces home and they were still satisfying two days later. With calamari one never knows if you get the squiggles or the circles, and alas the dish had more of what we didn't like. But we could pick through and enjoy the lightly battered taste. Nothing of great note for that dish. Service was attentive and cafe tables clean. We started outside but asked to move inside because of an aggressive bee situation and they seamlessly moved us without any issues. I've been back a couple of times since my last review, and I will say they are consistently good on service and food. The time before last sat at the bar and had drinks and tested out their soft pretzels. I had the passion fruit mimosa, and they are addictive! Recommended by the bar tender. I tried the French 107, and the Passion Fruit Sangria. My sister tried the Harlem Mule, PInot Grigio & Shochu & Soda. The server informed us they only sold Beer & Wine. They informed us abut their other restaurant called Perch that served alcohol. When our food arrived, we were both happy that our medium well order was cooked to perfection and juicy. My order of steak & eggs came with a jalapeno cheddar biscuit. All I can say is that the biscuit was the star on my plate. While there are plenty of restaurants that can probably compete food wise, the service is what resonates with me. Our waitress just had such a positive energy and attentiveness. She offered helpful input such as ordering fries to share would be plenty for two people. We went on a Saturday night and it was just her and the bartender but I haven't had such attentive service that sticks in my mind in a long time. Food came out hot, we never had to wait to order a drink and she even boxed up my meal in the back instead of bringing me a box to do it myself. I especially enjoyed their Neruda mocktail which was grenadine, lime seltzer and cinnamon. I wasn't sure how the cinnamon would be but I really enjoyed the drink and creativity. There is also lots of outdoor seating. Bathrooms were clean but small. My partner had the steak sandwich which he rated 6/5 stars. One thing I found odd about this restaurant is the water cups they give you are about the size of a shot glass. You are able to pour your own water out of a reused bottle of wine. It's cute but pretty inefficient considering you finish your water in two sips haha. I ordered the country breakfast. My overeasy eggs were cooked perfectly. Runny yolks and cooked whites. The bread was a thin rustic slice and the sausage was a sausage patty. The bacon was really weird though! It was an off brown color, hard, and almost had a jerky taste. Not sure if this was day old bacon or that is just the way they cook it. The hash browns were flaky which is how I personally like them. This was a good brunch place for the price. Good place for a date or hanging with friends. When I went here for brunch, I ordered the Jala Sammies ($15). The portion is large, and you could get this to share depending on how hungry you are.
