Time is important, do not waste it here. You are better off driving to Richmond where service and customer support is better

Chris did an amazing job repairing our beloved, 35-year-old, Black Forest cuckoo clock when it fell…read moreoff the wall and shattered into pieces. He was very kind when I called him and said he had successfully repaired other clocks that were comparably damaged. So, I put all the small pieces into plastic bags, wrapped the large pieces in towels, put everything into a box, and made an appointment to meet him at his home and shop. He carried the box from my car to his kitchen table and carefully inspected all the pieces. He said he thought the clock had fallen because the roof staples had separated from the body of the clock. He warned me that some components were badly damaged and there were limits on what he could do for them, but he thought he could get the clock put together and functioning normally again with a lot of work. I approved his quote and left the clock in his capable hands. He sent me regular texts with photos and videos of the repair process. One of the weights was damaged beyond repair and he found a close replacement on the web. I approved the replacement cost and he ordered it. Chris completed all of the repairs in less than one week. When I arrived to pick up the clock, he carefully showed me all the repairs he had done and did a demonstration to show me that the clock was functioning normally. As he had warned me, it had a few small persistent dings and cracks but otherwise looked and sounded great! The final bill was exactly what we had discussed and agreed upon. I was very happy with the whole process.

It has not run since I moved 6 years ago & I didn't know anyone in the area who I could trust, so it just hung on my wall not running. I found As Time Goes By online & took my clock to Chris. He assured me that he could get it operational again, donging hourly & on the half hour. He also gave me history on where & when it was made & it's older than I knew. Within 2 days, it was hanging back on my wall at home, keeping time & fully functional! Chris kindly offered to come to my home if the clock needed tweeking after I got home, but it was not needed. It was handed down to me through 4 generations & I will hand it down to my daughter as my mother wished. I highly recommend Chris Miller for any clock repair you may have. He's caring, knowledgeable & a genuinely nice man!

I'm embarrassed to admit hat we were negligent in caring for our inherited grandfather's…read moregrandfather clock. Haha. We moved it across country and didn't oil it at all for 6 years! Yes, that's dumb. We made an in home appointment with Sam who is friendly and respectful, wears shoe covers and a mask. He got right to work taking the works out and checking everything inside. Surprisingly the clock wasn't dirty but desperately needed oil. Delaying oiling it caused some minor wear on 2 gears. But he said it's not enough to need replacement or repair. I wouldn't have known the difference if he had said it did but he was honest. He oiled it, answered all my many questions as he worked and was done in 30 minutes. He asked if we would like to make an appointment for an oiling in 2 years! If you sign up for routine maintenance the price is discounted. And I need reminders! My friend had an appointment same day. Her clock needed some repairs but his estimate was way less than other clock repairs we've had done in the past. He is in great demand and has a few months wait for repairs to be completed but it'll be done right and with quality parts some of which he hand makes.

However, Sam brought it back to life for us and now the clock is ticking on time and chiming my favorite Westminster chime. Since we knew how old the mechanism or the heart of the clock, we were happy to have Sam get a new mechanism for our clock. Sam has an outstanding customer service, and he is very diligent about his work. Repairing a grandfather clock requires lots of patience and we don't have that nowadays. We trusted as he repaired the grandfather clock that belonged to my brother-in law. It's hard to find such an honest clock repair and we defiantly recommend his business. Now our Clock is running on time.
