Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Andrew Minton Jewelers. I brought in a pair of earrings in early April that I wanted converted from studs to dangle earrings. I was told that the dangle earring backs would need to be ordered, but that it shouldn't take long. When I didn't hear anything back for 2 weeks, I called and was told that it would be done shortly. After another 2 weeks, I called again and was told that the earring backs were backordered and wouldn't be available for 3 more weeks. Why couldn't someone call me to let me know? A customer shouldn't have to keep calling. When another week went by, with no update, I called again and talked to Andrew Minton who told me that he would get back to me. The next day, a woman who identified herself with the last name of Minton told me that the earrings were ready for pickup. I came today (June 9) to pick them up only to see that the earrings were not worked on at all. When I asked why I had been called and told they were ready, the young woman (who initially waited on me in April) went back to talk to the jeweler. During this time, a female employee came up to the counter and was working on a computer. She saw the earring back that was to be worked on for my earrings on the counter and promptly put her finger in her mouth to pick up the earring back to give to Andrew Minton. When the young woman came back, I was told that the reason they told me that my earrings were ready (when they weren't) is that my order had been placed in the wrong box. It seemed like a very poor excuse. I remarked on the unsanitary practice of picking up earring backs with spit on one's finger, only to be met with a testy remark from the woman who did it, saying that all jewelry is cleaned before it's given to the customer. Regardless, what this woman did was simply unsanitary and frankly, gross. Adults in a retail setting don't need to spit on their fingers to pick up items. During this exchange with the two employees, the owner, Andrew Minton, was sitting within earshot and never once came over to say anything to me -- a customer who waited 2 months for earrings that were never worked on. I took my earrings back and will take them to another jeweler. Customer service at Andrew Minton Jewelers is poor and unprofessional. read more

Came in for a necklace repair. Staff spent time explaining options and were quite honest about how long it would take to do and what the options were. They completed it within their quoted timeline. Lots of staff there to help out. Parking is for shopping center so not hard to find a spot. Will be going back for future repairs. read more

We brought in a family heirloom ring that needed to be resized/reshaped for a wedding. They were upfront that because the platinum band was thin, they may not be able to resize it without compromising the structure, but that they would try. They worked quickly, were very communicative and were able to resize the ring and reshape the bent band. Highly recommend Andrew Minton for any jewelry repair. read more

Today I took in my mother's cross necklace for a minor repair. It was fixed perfectly and the owner declined to charge me. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with my jewelry appraisals with Andrew Minton Jewelers. It took twice as long as they quoted and their communication was abysmal. I called when they were initially supposed to be done, and was told they weren't ready because of an illness. This is understandable, life happens. They set a new date to be ready and when I drove in to pick up, they couldn't find the jewelry for around 10 minutes, which was nerve wracking! They were not ready that day, a new deadline was set, and they promised I would get a call confirming that. That day passed with no call, so I called and was told it would be done by end of day. Unfortunately, I received no call and it was not done that day. I called again the next day, and the day after before it was confirmed to be done and in hand for pick up. Not once did they call me for the month they had my jewelry, I had to call each time for an update. I spoke about my concerns to the owner at pick up and he offered no apologies other than to defensively say that they are busy and given how busy they are they cannot always call customers when they say they will, nor hit deadlines they set for themselves. I don't feel this is an appropriate excuse for poor customer service. I repeatedly told him I was not upset about the delay in providing the service, but in the lack of communication and disorganization. I personally would not trust them with my jewelry given his defensive response to their substandard performance. I prefer to use local businesses, but I will not use them again, and would not recommend them. read more

This may have been a reputable business back in the day, but my experience this year with this store has been horrific. They were supposed to duplicate a ring setting for me (and they actually had the ring so this shouldn't be that hard), but they kept coming back with settings that were completely different than the original ring. After five months of going back and forth and getting nowhere, I asked for my ring back. This past week, I needed to purchase three small gold jump rings to have soldered to a bracelet, and the estimate they gave me was $365! I had to repeatedly ask for clarification, and only then did they say "whoops, we accidentally doubled the labor charge". Their cost for both the labor and jump rings was way more than Keller and George for the exact same product and service, even without the double estimate. Then, he (Brian) added tax onto the labor charge. I know that jewelry labor should not be taxed, and when I asked him about it, he said this: "We have been advised by our accounting company to charge sales tax on work do using materials to compete the task. It is near impossible for us to determine the cost of the solder, propane, oxygen, flux, acid, and other items used in a basic solder." I followed up with both him and Andrew Minton asking again why they are taxing labor, and neither responded to my multiple emails. I've spoken with Ken, the manager of Keller and George, and he said that in his 40 years of work he's never heard of a jewelry store charging tax on repairs. I deeply regret ever doing business at this store and find myself wondering if I've been completely ripped off every time. read more

Thieves. My wife brought in her favorite bracelet to have a link repaired. When she picked up the bracelet it was clearly smaller, and since my wife hadn't gained 20 pounds in the week it took to repair the bracelet, it was clear that a link was missing. We went back to the store to ask why the size had changed and all we got was a run around. They brought out a ruler to measure it (not sure why, since there was nothing to compare it to). Next the on site jeweler walked out and said there was no reason to remove a link for the repair. The favorite bracelet is suddenly unwearable after 10 years. I've been to jewelers across the country and this was the worst experience I've ever had. I'll never go to Minton Jewelers again read more

Andy and his team are not only extremely professional, but are also down to earth and friendly as can be. I walked in with a budget in mind for an engagement ring without knowing much about how it all worked. Andy grabbed a sheet of paper and sat down with us one-on-one for 45 minutes giving us the basics on how engagement rings work along with different cuts, colors, clarity, etc. Not to mention he kept to my budget exactly and the final product was stunning - she was blown away. I have been looking for a local jeweler so that I could have a go-to place for jewelery repair and for consideration of custom pieces I have commissioned every now and again. First I took a diamond band to get rhodium plated. They did a fine job with that so I went back in with a repair I needed for a small stone that fell out a an earring. When I was there to pick those up I asked if they could clean my engagement ring for me. (The engagement ring was made elsewhere). After paying for the repair and leaving I noticed one of my small melee diamonds was missing from the setting. I went back in to the store and the man I spoke to said that the stone should not have come out, that it was an error in setting that the person making it did (and this is correct, I do not blame them for the stone coming out). He said it could have come out in the ultrasonic machine and that he would have them drain it this evening and let me know if they found the stone. This was on a Tuesday in the afternoon. Tuesday evening, no call. Wednesday, no call. So I called them. I spoke to someone else who said they did not think it had been drained yet and they would call me back. No return call. Meanwhile I send my ring back to the designer for repair without the missing stone. As I write this review it has been an entire week and no one has called me, even if just to say that they never did find it. I want to be completely clear that I am not blaming them for the stone coming out, however, I was not impressed with their lack of customer service with what happened after the fact. They have just lost my future business. read more
