Reasonably priced Bicycle Repair Shop in the Frederick Area that gets the job done. I came in for a tune up and training wheel installation for a bike that belonged to a family member. The owner Matt did the tune up himself efficiently while I watched, and provided excellent pointers on seating position, explained what the issue were with the bike etc. The training wheel installation was smooth, even though an extra part was required, he ordered the part, didn't price gouge and reached out to me via email as soon as the part arrived and was ready for installation. Dropped off the bike and work was done the next day. Another email was sent to let me know me know the work was done. Definitely would recommend Mark and Joe to my friends if they need bicycle repairs done in a quick and a timely fashion. No complaints, I would just say for some customers they would prefer a phone call instead of an email to let them know the work is done, but I prefer the latter so no complaints on that point. read more

I came in knowing nothing about bikes. On my first visit, Jason took his time getting me fitted for a bike and had me test ride a bike. I purchased a new Trek 820 mountain bike and wanted them to check it out before I went on the local trails. Knowing very little about the bike, Matt and crew were VERY knowledgable and took the time to go over with me the gears, brakes, common issues/quick fixes, etc. before I left. They completed the tune up and installed a kickstand earlier than predicted and reached out to me both via email and text to let me know the bike was ready for pick up. The same day I took the bike out trails with no issues. I later went back to purchase a taillight (Bontrager Flare) and the staff educated me about the different types lights and geared me towards the most appropriate one. I've brought in 2 bikes for service. I stressed the point, that time was important to me. Agreed to service based on ETAs given: 2 business days on one and 3-4 business days on the other. At the end of the fourth day, I called in for status. It turned out, parts were still missing for both bikes, without any ETA. Within 2 hours, I bought the missing parts at a different store and brought them in. Thought that would expedite the process. However was given a beautiful excuse "We have bikes sitting here from March, that are just getting fixed now". At this point I realized, they were happy to get my business, but couldn't care less about getting the job done on time. I am really happy for them. The business is so good, they are backlogged. However, I would expect some honesty on ETAs. At least an update if there are delays. You know, a bit of respect for my time. I took back one of the bikes, because the only way for me to ride it that day, was to fix it by myself. They agreed to fix the other bike the next day, ONLY because I would take it somewhere else if they wouldn't . The next day, at the register I was surprised to find out that there were multiple charges added by mistake. Nice try! Also extra charge for a part installation, because "it wasn't purchased from them". The same one I had to buy somewhere else, because they wouldn't even give me an ETA on. In their defense: The charges were adjusted. The quality of work seems to be good. Requires some fine tuning, but... I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

We stopped here after visiting a few other local bicycle shops. We went to purchase two bicycles (one mens and one womens) and I was surprised the pricing was higher than most if not all other shops we visited. The staff was very young but seemed to have a rough idea what to advise for the bicycles (I have been riding for approx.15yrs, road and mountain), but were incredibly distracted. The person helping us out walked away on one occasion to deal with something else, then on the second occasion walked away and did not come back for approx.10 minutes. He was helping another customer...I couldn't believe it, so we went elsewhere and bought two bicycles for less and they work great. If you have no where else to go, then give them a try...I don't recommend them. --I cannot rate the repair service...I did not use them-- read more

I rode 10 miles to the shop (20 miles round trip) for a quick check that was done incorrectly from another shop, and after I explained what the problem was, John was able to correct the issue with an explanation of what was done. I rode my bike up the Magruder trail today to Damascus and along the way my gears started acting up. It was rideable, but I thought I'd pop into All American Bicycle Center to see if someone there could work on it. What luck, the service manager, Keith, happened to be working and he quickly remedied the issue. He did little extras like changing the gear cable caps (I hope I have that right), greased up the chain and gear housings - fixed it as good as new! I started talking about being worried on the C&O canal that if I ever blew a tire, I had some components to fix it, but not all. He inventoried what I had, made two suggestions that were inexpensive to purchase and then proceeded to take me to the back to teach me how to change the inner tube in a tire! He showed me all the tips and tricks and was very thorough and patient in his delivery. I am all set should that happen. Keith really went above and beyond and I'm very grateful. Every time I patronize that shop for a bike, repairs, or accessories, I'm super impressed by how professional and helpful the owner and staff are. I also love supporting a local small business. Why save a couple bucks going through the internet when you can get such a wealth of information and guidance from the pros. Always love this place and will be going back soon. read more

I took my road bike in to have a few updates made to it. Matt the owner was beyond thorough with me. He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable and patient. He built my confidence about doing a long ride and helped provide useful tips. He also provided a fantastic contact for me for training and additional rider contacts. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK. I recently took my bike in for some work to be gone on it. They promised it would take a weeks time to get the part in and ready for me to pickup. So one week goes by and no email, phone call, smoke signals, nothing. I call them and all they said was the part wasn't ordered, and that it "slipped through the cracks". No "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" or anything of that nature. They said we'll have it to you in three days. Three days go by nothing... Finally on the fourth day I called and they said the bike was ready for pickup and to come in at anytime. Went in to get the bike, no "I'm sorry this happened, this doesn't usually happen", nothing. Just wanted my money and that was it. I'm a pretty reasonable person - things happen, I get it. But the key is what do you do about it to resolve to situation as best as possible for your customer. I'm not looking for a handout or some sort or special treatment but a simple "I'm sorry, it was our fault" would have sufficed. Obviously this place is incompetent, arrogant, and have no sense of service or a wanting of a return customer-base. I was hoping to have a good bike shop near by but seems like I'll be making the extra hike to Germantown and Rockville for all my bike needs. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. No idea what the 1 star reviewer is thinking - clearly has no idea what makes a good bike shop. All American is without question the best bicycle shop in the DC Metro area. I live in DC and happily drive the 30 to 45 minutes it takes to get there. Their mechanics are thorough, friendly and top notch. They even let me have a loaner wheel for my bike while they submitted for warranty on my cracked back rim - and I didn't even buy my bike from them! If you want the best service, best mechanics, and a good deal to boot, this is the place to go. read more

I used to bike a lot up until college, but I slowly stopped riding and up until this spring hadn't been on a bike in years. I wanted to get back into it and I tried a lot of places in the Bethesda/Rockville area. I couldn't find one that fit me right, so a friend of mine recommended All American in Damascus. They were extremely helpful and worked around my schedule (I was not going to be able to make it back up for two weeks but they held two new bikes for me to try out during that time). I didn't expect that, as I know they would be feeling a lot of pressure to sell their stock. The staff was very helpful at getting this quasi-novice back onto a bike (esp. the guy with red hair--forget his name, sorry). Like reviewer M.J. I live about 45 minutes away but I am glad I made the trip up. They only get 4 stars because the prices were a bit higher than I had found for an equivalent bike at other locations. I haven't had a chance to post a review until now. Took my road bike in for service a while back. I paid over $100 for a tune up. When I got home, I noticed that one of the brake pads on the rear was crooked. Whoever worked on it didn't even catch it. I started to wonder if they even did the tune up. Never again. read more

After five flats in three rides, the last flat about 1/2 mile from the All American Bicycle Center, I decided to take my rear wheel to Matthew McGoey.
