This is a great mom and pop shop that serves delicious vegan food. Their menu is very limited, but everything that I've tried here so far has been really favorable. My favorites that I've tried there so far are: veggie egg rolls, pho, Mongolian noodle salad, and teriyaki noodle salad. When you walk into the restaurant, you make a right and order your food and pay. Once you finish ordering, they'll give you a number and you can sit wherever you'd like. While you wait for your food to come out, in the middle of the room are condiments, silverware and water. It's all serve yourself. Once the food comes out, you eat, and then buss your own food back to the middle of the room. Right when you're about to leave the restaurant, head back to the front desk area and put your tip in the tip jar. Since I work nearby, I'll be coming here often for lunch! read more

We came here for lunch on a weekday around noon and we basically had the entire place to ourselves. It's located on the north side of Salt Lake City, in the Rose Park-ish area. You order up at the counter and EVERYTHING is vegan! Although I'm not vegan, I'm vegetarian, I still appreciate spaces where I'm able to choose from allllll of the menu options. It's almost overwhelming! They have bahn mi, noodle bowls, rice bowls and delicious appetizers. I got the lemongrass fried rice and the portion was HUGE! I took a bunch home as leftovers. It is unbelievable to think that this entire place is completely vegan. It truly blew our minds, and the food was so good that we wanted to keep coming back again and again. This was the first place we had dinner when we arrived in Salt Lake City, and it was also the last place we visited before leaving, which shows how much we loved it. Nestled in a small strip mall is All Chay. As you walk in a sign directs you to the counter to place your order. A tap of the bell calls forth a staff member who is polite and helpful. The decor is Vietnamese, as one would expect. I personally liked the number of real plants they have adoring the walls. I ordered a green tea pot and a Pho. The broth is light with a hint of lemongrass. Soothing on the tongue. The thinly sliced beef is tender, but sparse. Would be nice if tripe, tendon or meatballs were featured. The tofu cubes are spongey with textured corners. Again limited in quantity. The noodles are a comfortable passenger but are unfortunately the main attraction since the proteins are far and few between. Overall, the Pho is decent, not bad but not great. On a cold day it'll hit the spot. Having had high quality pho in California and Chicago it's tough to give this place anything above 3/5 stars. Staff are wonderful and tea was good. read more

As a meat eater and beef pho lover, I was very skeptical of this place. Especially since some of the pictures of the broth on here looked weird to me, but let me tell you, that was THE BEST pho broth I've ever had. I don't know how or what they do but man!! So amazing! A gem of a spot that offers exclusively vegan, Vietnamese cuisine. Tried two different kinds of banh mi and the Thai Tea. The banh mi's are reasonably priced around $6. As a Vietnamese person, any banh mi priced over $8 is a little overpriced in my opinion. Both the lemongrass and all chay banh mi had great flavor, my only feedback is I wish there was more fixings filling the banh mi as you can see in the photos. The Thai tea was delicious and had a hint of something like red bean in it too. I would love to come back and try their other vegan Vietnamese dishes though. Y'all, it is no small feat to make vegan pho broth. Good pho broth isn't actually that hard to do (for a regular Vietnamese household), it just takes a while. Great broth is hard. But take away meat, and it's very difficult to get that fragrant, heady taste that's meaty but light. Some places go hard on mushrooms for the umami, which is a different profile altogether. Even more places treat the broth as an afterthought, rather than the soul of pho. All Chay has great broth. The right smell, the right taste, the right color. And their vegan meats are the right texture, there's even a pretty passable version of the classic Vietnamese pork sausage. If I had to quibble, I'd say their noodles were a bit insubstantial, but if that's the worst thing I can say, they're doing pretty good. After their pho, I had to take a banh mi to go, so went for the All Chay. This was an excellent vegan banh mi, from the taste of the protein to the textures of the vegetables to the tang of pickled carrots. Really well done. Chay, by the way, is a Buddhist term for vegetarian fasting, originally from the Chinese. So it's no surprise to find statues of bodhisattvas and messages wishing for the happiness and health of people and animals. That aura of kindness and warmth permeates the food here. All Chat remains our favorite vegan eatery in SLC. We've eaten just about everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Their pho is delightful, and their banh mi is some of the best I've ever had outside of Vietnam. No matter what you order, the portions are substantial, especially given the reasonable price. What sets All Chat apart, though, is their commitment to customer service. Yesterday we stopped in to order some to-go food to take back to Wendover, only to find that the restaurant wouldn't open for another 45 minutes. We've stopped here twice for food on our way to and from SLC airport. It's a good restaurant, with the spring rolls being a particular favorite of mine. I wish they had a few more dishes that weren't so heavily based on fake meat. For vegetarian food I'd rather have something that's based on tofu or straight vegetables.
